Despite the varying Trip Advisor reviews we decided to call in for lunch after visiting Lamport Hall. We sat in the bar area which was comfy. Outside was particularly lovely with great views and plenty of tables-would be fab on a sunny day. We received a warm welcome from the friendly barman. We had a surf n turf sharing platter (£22) and the nachos with tequila cheese dip (£5). Portions were large and we absolutely loved the nachos and the honey mustard sausages. The Platter fish was excellent, very fresh and tasty. Unfortunately the Cajun chicken skewers were poor, they tasted of nothing and the garlic bread was doughy. It’s a shame because the rest of the food was really good. It seems a bit hit and miss depending on your choice of food so choose wisely. If everything was as good as those little heavenly sausage chunks the’d be onto a real winner! We thought it good value for a freshly cooked lunch.

Staff were good as always but despite pre ordering there was no bruschetta for starter which also led them to do the artisan breads with what appeared to be naan bread! They did remove from bill though. Chicken Caesar salad was not great and missing the anchovies. Pork belly was tasty but had soft rind rather than crisp crackling stated. Shame as felt a little let down after having some great meals there.

The service was very slow but when the food (two starters each) arrived it was superb. I had ordered lamb kofta but they were out of lamb so made fresh beef kofta - excellent. The fish starter was also high quality. They were launching a new menu the following day so perhaps that accounted for the missing lamb but not for the slow service. However the waiter was profusely apologetic and the surroundings are lovey

Every few weeks the family meet up for Sunday lunch. The Swan is one of our favourites. As we were a large group we were asked to pre-order. The menu didn't include our favourite Roast lamb but after a phone call chef was happy to provide it for us. Staff are always polite and helpful. The food is always delicious! Our only negative would be that a 15% service charge is automatically added to the bill. We prefer to leave a separate cash gift. However, they will produce a bill with it removed if asked. Huge thank you to the team and we will see you again inbthe near future!

We had a large booking of 20 people, from the minute we arrived everything was very professional, a nice welcome message for our group on the wall, started with drinks in the bar while we waited for everyone to arrive. Once seated, we never had to wait or leave our seats the service was excellent. The food was also perfect, all came out swiftly, very well presented and how quite everyone went was a good sign everyone was enjoying it. Overall a faultless experience, excellent staff! Special mention to Will & Rui for the service and Sam & Ryan for the food.

Extremely nice staff, but unfortunately the food is over priced and very poorly cooked and presented. The sticky beef noodles arrived in one hard lump of cold unseasoned noodles and very little sticky beef. The chicken skewer dish had no skewers and was presented more like chicken nuggets. The fish and chips were ok but the curry sauce was poor and the mushy peas didn’t even taste like peas, not sure how you do that. I did complain but sorry is not enough, when you have wasted time and money on a poor experience.

I booked a table for 17 members of the Dene Valley U3A History Group. This was for lunch after a visit to Lamport Hall. Due to the size of our group we needed to pre-order and this is normal wherever we have lunch. The choice was excellent with a wide variety of meals chosen, from a simple sandwich to 3 courses for a couple of people. Everyone at the Swan was very helpful before we went eg Amber couldnt have been more helpful. On the day both Will and Ruy, our main hosts were professional and attentive. Food was excellent and took little time to arrive. No hassle with all our members paying separately The interior was clean and stylish, pictures on their website dont do it justice

Came this evening with my Partner and daughter (5th November 2022). We have come a few times in the past but not recent as it is out the way for us: I ordered the pie of the day which was steak and ale and come with mash and veg and gravy. I was expecting what I had received before in my visits, a home made steak pie filling with a freshly cooked puff pastry on the top. Instead i got a short crust over cooked small shop bought pie, mash that was shop bought, and root veg that was semi ok. It was serviced in a large bowl which was odd - a bowl I would expect to get pasta in. . It didn’t taste good, was very low quality and I could have made that at home for a couple of quid . £14 for that! I didn’t even eat a quater of it. My partner ordered a Moretti beer. It was flat, they changed it - again it was flat. Partner ordered the gammon asked for an extra egg. Come out with one egg, no pineapple as advertised and no vine tomatoes. My phone died so couldn’t get a picture but when your paying in the region of £60 for a meal and it’s crap the £6 beer is flat the restaurants empty but basic extras aren’t provided and your steak pie dinner is served in a pasta bowl swimming in gravy then it’s really frustrating. Despite this we still tipped as the main server gentleman was polite: the waitress was also polite but come to think of it it was completely dead on a Saturday which says a lot. If your charging gastric pub prices such as £28 for a steak then your food should match that, it was like something you would get at a hungry horse. I don’t think I will come back again I don’t know if it has changed hands or chefs but it’s awful and I won’t be back again. We also got breads to start and got one and a half slices of bread for 4 quid. I’m not one to whinge but really disappointed

Staff member was friendly upon arrival however the food was completely without any flavour. I had a pulled jackfruit burger which was just deep fried nastiness, no taste at all, just grease. Husband had jerk chicken with rice and peas, chicken had no spice to it. It was more like a barbecue sauce had been dribbled over it and the rice and peas had no seasoning either. It tasted like boiled rice with garden peas thrown in. It wasn’t exactly a cheap lunch. Very disappointing

Went for food here for the Sunday menu. had the worst table service, found waitress very rude when taking our order and a member of the kitchen staff had to come and retake our order due to the waitress being ‘confused’ and the food wasn’t much better. My daughter didn’t eat her pasta, my partner had the beef roast which was tough and mostly made up of fat and gristle most of which was left uneaten. Each of the Sunday roasts were made up of 3 roast potatoes (being 1/4 potato each) 2 half’s parsnips and some carrots and cabbage, paying nearly £18 per roast was expecting more for your money. Had side order of pigs in blankets which were left as they tasted horrible also. The sausage meat stuffing was like a brick because it was so hard and dry. The only meal that was finished was the children’s chicken nuggets and chips, which are edible where ever you have them. Have heard some good reviews of this restaurant but will not be returning personally because of this.

I had the roast lamb last Sunday - tender and beautifully cooked, served with a heaping portion of delicious veg, the Yorkshire pudding was tasty (not the usual dry, gravy sponge you get at other pubs). The value was excellent for size of the portion and quality of the food. We did leave a bit of room for pudding, and the key lime pie (baked by one of the staff!) was worth every last calorie - a perfect ending to the meal. Service great and very efficient. Will definitely be back.

We precooked the meal because we were a large family group (19). We requested one table to seat the whole group which was accepted. We asked about a deposit and were informed non required. We were advised that it would be advisable to pre order our food from the menu provided, which we did. We all arrived on time which was unusual. The initial greeting was very friendly. The staff that dealt with us were superb throughout. The single table was ready and waiting. The food was served exactly as pre ordered without a single error in the 3 course meal and the food was superb. I have to say I think it was quite an achievement to serve 19 people with hot meals without anyone having to wait for their meal. Well done the Swan at Lamport, especially the two persons that looked after us, you were superb. Definitely 5 stars. Thank you all. Glyn, Jan and family.

Our experience of lunch was a bit of a game of 2 halves. The mains we ordered were delicious. My friend had Ceasar Salad and it was a very generous portion. I had the Asian duck salad and found it really tasty. It did take over half an hour from ordering to being served and the restaurant wasn’t busy so seemed quite a long wait for 2 salads but we felt it was worth the wait. It was when we came to desserts it all went downhill. After waiting another long period of time from ordering to being served, my friend’s panna cotta was curdled and very grainy. I bested that however with a fruit berry and oat crumble that didn’t have an oat crumble topping. Not sure what it was, but it smelled and tasted like Parmesan cheese! When I complained, the assistant manager told me she didn’t want me upset so would remove the cost of the desserts from my bill - why she thought for one moment that I would be paying for 2 inedible desserts is beyond me! We were asked if we would like to order something else - we declined. At no time did the assistant manager offer anything by way of an apology or to demonstrate good customer service. It was a very disappointing end to our lunch. Lastly, if you search for The Swan’s lunch menu online and it’s offering 2 courses of certain food items for a fixed price of £13.95 ignore it. It’s out of date and won’t be offered to you. This needs to be removed. Our bill was £48 for 2 salads and 4 drinks and to be honest, it wasn’t worth the money. Due to the poor customer service and appalling desserts we will unfortunately not return to The Swan at Lamport or recommend it to friends and family.

Just popped in by chance. Made to feel very welcome by the staff, who had dealt with our indecisions with patience. The staff were non stop giving attentive service. Decided to have the Roast Sunday Lunch. A very ample portion of chicken and beef served with fresh tasty veggies , not boiled to death; good Yorkshires; all the trimmings you could ask for, very pleasant Sunday afternoon As an addition, it has beautiful views !

We went for Christmas Lunch, which promised to be amazing! (From the menu at least). The food in the most part was good. Service was poor, very slow an inexperienced staff, we guess that is due to lack of staff wanting to work on Christmas day. We paid £100 per head for the meal, there were four of us. When we came to pay the bill we were slapped with a £40 service charge! This was never mentioned previously and at least was expected and at worst greedy. We always tip for good food and service, but this was expected. It has left a very sour taste for all of us. I emailed them, but never received any response. We will certainly not visit again.

Thank you for your review, I’m sorry you weren’t satisfied with your visit! The 10% Service charge was discretionary as stated on our menu and would’ve been removed if requested, this is only added due to staff taking the time away from their families on Xmas day. Unfortunately we never received an email from you… it seems you have messaged us via the booking system which is why this wasn’t picked up. In regards to service we felt that everyone was served in a timely manner without trying to rush people and feedback was overall extremely positive however in your case we must’ve dropped the ball and for that we apologise! If you’d like to discuss further please give us a call and ask for myself or email us at lamportswan@mcmanuspub.co.uk Kind regards, Will General Manager
