My wife took me here to celebrate my 30th birthday, it was a truly excellent experience. After a quick welcome from Alex and the team behind the pass, we were shown to our table and introduced to our server for the evening. We opted for...the 10 course menu with the wine pairing, both of which were stunning from start to finish. The service was top notch, both from our server and the sommelier and we were made to feel very special throughout our visit. Obviously this sort of experience doesn't come cheap, so it may be a while before our next visit, however we will most certainly be back!More

My boyfriend and I visited here for our anniversary. We wanted to go somewhere with a tasting menu and Alchemilla stood out to me as the menu offerings were so diverse ie meat, pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan menu options which was great. We went for...the 5 course tasting menu without wine pairings but instead opted for their orange wine and cocktails. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We spent 3 hours there and at no point did we feel rushed or that we were waiting too long for food. The staff were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. We had a nice handwritten card on our table upon arrival wishing us a happy anniversary which was a nice touch. Id highly recommend opting for tea /afters and petit fours to finish, this was a nice extra and such a treat- the truffle chocolate and the buttery fudge were to die for! Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again in future.More

Alchemilla is excellent. A lively, typical city-based Michelin stared restaurant which delivers an innovative menu and very good service as well. I booked our table three months in advance for my wife’s birthday but felt a slight sense of dread when reading some of the...more recent reviews. I am pleased to say that we did not find any of the problems listed in those reviews. We went for the 10 course tasting menu which was very well balanced with strong snacks to start (the hash brown with BBQ miso topping was divine), followed by a focus on seafood, then beef, pigeon, the optional cheese course (5 cheeses were ample for two) and three sumptuous desserts. The service was friendly, warm and staff really knew their stuff. The sommelier had a good understanding of the wines on the pairing list, and a lot more besides - so much more impressive than those that simply learn the scripts as we have come across before. This was our first visit to Alchemilla, and we would certainly return. It is a shame that one or two people had poor experiences here recently - this can happen as we found at L’Enclume and Gillian Lodge previously but, from our visit, this was really good.More

We finally got to go to Alchemilla after lockdowns and a long wait for a Friday evening table……..it was worth waiting for. 3 1/2 hours on culinary bliss. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. I’ve read a few reviews saying it’s pretentious……..not at...all. The food was exquisite. We opted for the 10 course taster and thoroughly enjoyed each one. Yes there were some we like better than others, but the skill, technical ability and flavour combinations were amazing on each dish. Even the sourdough bread was heavenly. Will definitely come again 10/10More

Regrettable visit to Alchemilla Visited this restaurant on the evening 24/11/20, upon arrival a warm welcome from the waiting staff then allowed to select a table, we chose the 7 dish taster. That's were the good part of the Alchemilla experience ended, the waitress brought...over the first dish not on a tray but by hand with her thumb's on the inside of the dish needless to say we didn't eat them. The second dish arrived in the same manner which we did at least try. The lid on the chef's salt pot must have fallen off the dish was near inedible and this set the tone for the evening. All the savory dishes had either an overpowering flavoring of citrus, vinegar or burnt, all extremely salty and bearly of room temperature. The three dishes that were the worst are the Ell in licorice tasted awful, the waiter asked why we hadn't finished the dish and we replied it wasn't to our taste he replied the dish was Marmite (finally a dish described as it tasted bloody salty) the main dish pigeon cold and undercooked by about 2 minutes I never ate this, by this time the waiter realized there might be something wrong as we left most dishes almost as they turned up the waiter asked " is everything ok" no you lost me on the second dish of the night!!. Then another waiter appeared (he may have been the manager but didn't seem to be too bothered about introducing himself) "what was wrong with the duck" I explained why we had left it and his retort was "when someone says cold I think of cold as in a refrigerator", I'm not going to have a conversation about words relating to temperature "can I get the chef to cook the dish again" (they've got a chef I was under the impression it was his night off) NO we would like to finish the courses pay and leave was our reply. The dish ice-cream biscuit was frozen solid they couldn't even manage to take ice-cream out of the freezer in time for it to soften. For the benefit of the manager and chef if they really have one!. SALTY TEPID SALTY LUKEWARM SALTY COOL SALTY WARMISH SALTY On a final footnote the majority of the dishes had a feel and taste that they were cooked in the afternoon then constructed that evening. The restaurant does have three warming lamps on the server but on waiting for our taxi no food was placed under these.More

Got a table here at the last minute due to a cancellation. Was great to be able to continue birthday celebrations for my husband and it was a great experience. Been meaning to come here before they got their star but never managed to get...around to it so really pleased we finally have. Went for the ten course tasting menu with wine pairing but actually feel we could have gone for the seven and not been disappointed. The extra bits that the 10 course offered weren’t that out of this world to have made it worth the additional cost in our opinion. Portions were actually very filling and weren’t style over substance which is something that we’ve found to be the case in some previous Michelin starred restaurants that we’ve been to. The dessert wines weren’t quite for us so three glasses went to waste but that’s all about personal taste. We did explain it was a birthday visit but no extra special effort was made on this front which wasn’t an issue but would have been nice. Staff all quite young but efficient and very pleasant. Wine sommelier was very knowledgable, only comment I would have is it would have been nice to have been asked about how we found the previous wines as some we ended up leaving but no comment made on this just straight into the next. Also a small point but water was placed on the table and we had to ask for more and top up ourselves. The whole experience took nearly 4 hours so it was quite lengthy so be prepared to be here for a while, having said that it didn’t at any point feel rushed or slow. Although if we’d ordered the cheese course I imagine we’d have been there well past midnight having sat down at 8pm. Highlights for us - lobster, pigeon, hash browns and ice cream sandwich.More

The food and the presentation was fabulous however for a fine dining establishment such as this the service was very amateur. On arrival I was holding my coat and the Maître d eventually asked if he could take it only to hand it to the...waitress standing next to him. We were being served by a waitress who was training however no one was over-seeing her work. One course she cleared away my partner' plates ands left mine which had to be hurriedly cleared when the next course was served. When you are paying this amount of money I do not want to be the guinea pig for someone trainnig.More

We finally got to eat here after cancelling in August due to Covid and is was worth the wait. We had the 5 course tasting menu at lunchtime, with 3 further tasters before we started. All beautifully presented with excellent service. I was slightly disappointed...to find that there were no alcohol free cocktails on the menu.More

Enjoyed an outstanding dining experience last Friday. Atmospheric restaurant with very hard-working, dedicated chef and kitchen team complimented by brilliant service. Thanks also to Rebecca, the friendly and knowledgeable sommelier. Would highly recommend and hope to return in the future.

Really looked forward to this, booked weeks in advance.Travelled from out of town to visit….. Re Food Tasting menu of 7 courses was dull , every course brown/ yellow! At one point we giggled hysterically as we just wanted it to end, as so boring....Duck egg was pleasant, nothing earth shattering . Wine pairing - would not give most of the wines house room , 2 glasses were ok Re Service We were interrupted 11 times to tell us about the tedious dishes , ( memorised script) including amuse bouche ,with no understanding of how our conversation was interrupted ! The sommelier was a lovely , knowledgeable ,young woman . Was absolutely not worth the £430 for 2 people .( including 3 extra glasses of champagne)More

No bread is not charged. In fact there are lots of little dishes between the courses.

As the others say, no dress code but worth making an effort to make the occasion special.
