Had an amazing dinner at Kashmiri Lamb Rogan Josh on Maid Marian Way in Nottingham. The lamb rogan josh was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, with tender meat that melted in the mouth. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. A fantastic spot for authentic Indian cuisine—definitely worth a visit!

I visited Nottingham with my family between Christmas and new year and we were keen to find an Indian restaurant near the hotel. There are a number of Indian restaurants nearby to the Cumin located on either side of the road, and we checked reviews before booking. The Cumin was the only one with no negative reviews so we gave it a try.
Best decision ever!
It is a smaller restaurant and does not have the glitz and glamour of some of the rivals, but what they lacked in size they made up for in service and quality. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. The food was out of this world and as someone who has eaten a lot of curries, it was so tasty. The restaurant fairly full, but it was obvious that there were people who were regulars.
The service was attentive and genuine, and the awards on display show this is a restaurant where the biggest selling point is the customer service. Cannot find fault in any aspect at all. Superb.

The Cumin in Nottingham is a fantastic spot for authentic North Indian food. The dishes are full of flavor, with highlights like the lamb curry and buttery naan. Vegetarians are well catered to, and everything is cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. With its warm atmosphere and consistently great food, it’s a go-to for both casual meals and special occasions. Highly recommend!

Starters was a sharing platter for 25 quid which was a couple of sheesh kebabs each, a small piece of lamb and a very very small lamb chop. Totally overpriced. Main I had lamb madras which was sauce plus flavourless meat. Not the best. Friends had Tandoori combo and Karahi Gosht. Bill was 42 quid each including a large service charge. Won't be going again. Far better Indian restaurants up road.

I booked a table at The Cumin Restaurant for 17 work colleagues whilst we were in Nottingham for a work conference we were delivering. Prior to the booking, the restaurant promptly confirmed the table and on the day of the booking called to check if any further information was required. I was able to make amendments to the booking on the day, which was extremely helpful as we had some last minute guests join us.
The dining area we were seated in was lovely and we were delighted to have the space to ourselves. The atmosphere and ambience in the room was fantastic, and the service was even better. We were provided with prompt, professional and friendly service throughout, regularly taking drinks orders and checking our food was okay.
The food itself was delicious; while I'm not a curry connoisseur myself, some of my colleagues are and they echoed that the meal was of high quality, with great portion sizes.
Overall this was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish and I can't recommend highly enough. Personally, as the host, it was greatly appreciated and wonderful to see the team enjoy themselves and to sit back and relax myself! Thanks again to the team for helping to create some great memories of time that is rarely spent together in person!

Delicious, authentic Punjabi food, served piping hot, with great service in this family owned and run restaurant. Location not the best (on a busy main road), and decor’s a little dated, but don’t let that put you off. Recommend you try the pani puri shots as a pre-starter, the Amritsari fish (tender, with delicate flavour), the chole bhatura and the methi murg and a rumali roti - all for 2 to share, if you want an amazing, authentic Punjabi meal. All well priced too.

We went as a family for my two daughter’s birthdays. The staff were amazing, so attentive. Really good range of food to suit all tastes and very tasty - my only very small gripe was it was a little oily and whilst we asked for all leftovers to be packaged up to take home we realised when we got back that they had only given us some of the leftovers. They must have twigged it was a birthday celebration and at the end brought out two mini cheesecakes with a candle for each of the girls. Thank you so much for a memorable evening ❤️

Each time I go to Nottingham (usually once or twice a year), I go every night (except Sundays when they close) to The Cumin restaurant, at the bottom of Maid Marian Way. The food is really great. I always had my favourites (eg crispy Okra, and Rogan Josh), which made it difficult for me to try anything else. But, this time, I made myself wander through the menu for the 8 days I was there. There are too many great flavours and dishes to mention them all, but I now have so many 'favourites' that I'll have a dilemma next time I'm in Nottingham! My new regular orders will include most, if not all, the starters (especially Panni Puri, Onion Bhajis, and Lamb Chops).
On one night, I went with a team of people that I'd been working with (a multi-national mix of different tastes), and Sonny and Monica, the couple who run the place, laid on a banquet style meal that catered for all tastes. It was a great success.
I will definitely be back!
I should say that in the past, I've tried all the Indian restaurants in Maid Marian Way (and I go to a different one on the Sundays), but I'll always choose The Cumin whenever I can, because the flavours they deliver are outstanding.

Try the Lime Rice ! The Cumin provided a really excellent experience on a quiet Monday night in April. We had the usual starters. I had onion bhaji , which arrived in its constituent parts, rather than a pattie, elegantly dotted with sauce. This really showcased the flavours. Mains were accompanied by Lime Rice. Order it !!!!! An absolute revelation and provided a delicate base to showcase two superb lamb mains. In all honesty the punjabi cooking of vegetables is this restaurant’s key strength, delicate and flavourful. Makhani Dahl was my highlight. Unusually for a beered up pair of blokes, we polished off the lot.

If you know your curry, then you know they're levels to curry.
I love Indian food-for me it's the spiciness of it. I've never physically visited India however I can assure you that I've been teleported to India just by having good Indian food. Prior to coming to The Cumin, I read around about local Nottingham Indian restaurants, and they were highly recommended. So I taught I'd give it a try.
I can only compare The Cumin to other Indian restaurants I've been to. For example, one of my favourites is Dhamaka in Bristol-their decor is popping, the curry was out of this world spicy, I left their restaurant thinking that was a good experience.
My experience with The Cumin now, I felt it was lukewarm at best. For example, the spiciness guide (i.e. the number of peppers bedside the dish) was misleading. My main course was disappointing as I didn't get the spiciness I was after. The lamb was on the tougher side as well. In essence it tasted like curry I could have bought from a supermarket self only thing it was being served on porcelain.
The decor was neither here nor there, it was a black and gold theme. The dining is that of a European restaurant. And so for me, it should be clearly stated in the reviews that if you're after a upscale Indian dining experience with a mildly flavoured menu (perhaps suited for a British palate) then perhaps this is the restaurant for you. But if you're looking for irresistible authentic aromatic Indian curry, perhaps look somewhere else.
The staff overall were pleasant. I had no issues with them. My only issue was the taste of the food-it neither met or exceeded my expectations.

My partner and I ventured into Nottingham city centre at about 10pm looking for somewhere to eat and with a quick google search we stumbled across the cumin and we are thankful we did. The owners were warm and hospitable and the service was very fast, the food was presented well and above all it was delicious! We ordered a lot of food as we were starving and as well as being good value for money the quality of food was great. To add we are both vegan and they even had a separate menu for us which was lovely to see. An all round positive experience and will be returning!

The Cumin Restaurant
Hi Seanic
Thank you very much for your review 😊 it's much appreciated
To be honest quite a lot of Indian food fits into the vegan menu so it makes sense to have a separate menu
I'm glad you enjoyed your evening and food
See you soon

We are a family of 5 adults and 2 children and had not booked but we were made very welcome by all of the staff who were kind and attentive especially with our children. Service was excellent and all of the meals were first class, certainly some of the best Indian food we have ever had including an extended holiday we had a few years ago in India. I had the tandoori combination which not only tasted great but looked superb too. Unfortunately, we only occasionally visit Nottingham but will definitely be back when we are in the City. Highly recommended!

We had a great meal with top service, delivered on a quiet Monday night in Nottingham. Its was refreshing to see a fewer dishes on the menu than the usual array of different curries. The food was delivered as expected and the staff were very attentive with the meal not feeling rushed at all. It’s our second visit and looking forward to the third already. For reference it’s Cobra on tap!

Cumin has never failed to disappoint us, whether we come in to the restaurant or order it online. Our most recent two trips the food has been very delicious. The restaurant atmosphere is very calm and you can hear each other talking which is always nice. The staff are lovely and very attentive (:
