Showed already paid for a ticket for a friends event prior. Refused us entry extremely rudely saying one of the staff had seen us drop a bag of coke on the floor, which is impossible as no one in our group has even touched it....I said to search us all in the case and they wouldn't do it and pushed us out of the line, leading me to believe it was purely due to the fact they just felt like it. The staff proceeded to mock us and laugh on our way out. Awful place will never be back.More

Came here with my partner for afternoon drinks in the sun on a Sunday. We’d been several times 2/3 years prior when it was under different ownership and called Saltwater - it was an amazing bar and restaurant. We thought it’d be just as good...since it’s change to Alto but WOW how wrong we were! The floors were unbelievably sticky and clearly hadn’t been mopped from the Saturday night - vile! Our wine and cocktails were served in plastic glasses, when we asked the barman if they had glass he said he ‘didn’t know’ - which didn’t instill confidence! Said plastic glasses were dirty and covered in lipstick, and the barman proceeded to tut when we asked for clean ones…. The few clientele in the venue were loud, gobby, chavs - ‘TOWIE wannabes’ you could say. We swiftly drank up and left - absolutely woeful. There are so many good bars in Nottingham, don’t be fooled into thinking Alto is a good place to go just because it has a rooftop - go somewhere else! All the reviews I’ve read since going have been similar, I wonder if management will take notice? I doubt it!More

Myself and my boyfriend arrived at the venue earlier with a view to book a table for dinner and drinks and were told by the 3 bouncers that we were able to walk in and get a table no problem. Later that night, we arrived...at the venue and were very rudely looked up and down by the bouncers who asked for ID and searched our bags, and distastefully turned his nose up at our smart casual clothes. After reluctantly letting us into the venue we crossed the disgusting sticky floor to the bar and enquired about a table for food and were told that they were not serving food and ‘hadn’t been for a while now.’ After already paying for our very over priced drinks served in plastic cups we sat down inside as we felt the atmosphere on the terrace was very hostile towards our slightly underdressed attire. We left as quickly as we could. Definitely not the place for an enjoyable night of food or drink as we felt unsafe or judged by staff and customers.More

If you love being surround by drugs, sitting on broken furniture, stepping on sticky floors and speaking to poor management then this is the place for you! My parents, my boyfriend and I came out to celebrate my birthday and to enjoy a few drinks...here, but the truth is we couldn’t wait to leave soon after we purchased our drinks! The clientele is very young, very drunk and very happy to take drugs in the toilets. But don’t bother telling the manager about what you’ve seen because the manager doesn’t even care!! The security team are very daunting and not very friendly at all. They are constantly waiting in the middle of the venue for when the next fight will break out. What kind of place needs 4 members of security in the middle of the venue 24/7? My family and I didn’t feel safe at all The furniture is disgusting and broken, the atmosphere is flat, I think it’s safe to say it’s no longer a classy place to go in Nottingham!More

Awful from start to finish. We were a group of 15 and had booked a table well in advance for dinner. They told us they did pizzas and some sharing plates. When we arrived they informed us they did not serve food. We were shown...to our table which was nowhere near big enough for 15 people. We thought we'd stay for a drink while we tried to find somewhere else to eat. The bar service was ridiculously slow. When I eventually got served and asked for an orange juice the girl serving had no idea where to get orange juice from. Once another bar man eventually told her, she then didn't know how to serve it (in a plastic or glass cup.) Bar man stepped in to help again. The rest of my group ordered some bottles of prosecco but were given plastic glasses covered in lipstick. When they told the staff, they were given new glasses that were also dirty. When they told the staff this time they said they had none left and just stared at them as if to say "what do you want us to do now?" In the end one of our group washed the cups themselves in the bathroom!!!! Appalling service. On top of this the music was then turned up so loud we could barely hear eachother speaking. It's a shame as it looked quite nice but we would never go back even if you paid us.More

I've ordered a glass of wine which has been served in a plastic glass. Not the best when drinking wine. On top of that, there was RED LIPSTICK all over the glass. When we told the staff at the bar, he gave me another glass...and poured the wine from one glass to the other, terrible. Sticky tables, broken chairs, we ended up not touching our drinks at all. Won't be going back.More

Myself and friend had a lovely evening for drinks here. Pratyush was amazing and such a lovely guy all round! He made it better than I’ve ever been to this bar! He ensured our drinks were delivered promptly and we had a lovely evening!
