When I want to support local businesses as well as getting something to eat after a very long night shift, I saw this place, I do love something local & something different than your everyday commercial rubbish like Costa Coffee, Caffè Nero & Starbucks.
I went in before 11am because I was starving and hungry. When I went in, I was greeted by Dee & she was very lovely by welcoming me to the tea house. Also, it has a nice cosy lounge downstairs, that you will have tea & cake. However, if you do want like a nice hot food like a breakfast bite wrap then upstairs is the place to be with the great scenery of green indoor garden feeling.
The service is the best in here that the staff members are very caring, very smiley and it made me feel like I am home here. It was my very first time here, even though I have passed it so many times. Dee has explained the choices for me which I couldn't decided between the "Monty Cristo", "Country Ploughman Sandwich" or the "Spice Girl" with the wannabe twist with the eggy bread part of the song. Dee is very patient with me and explained a lot to me. Also, the tea wise that they have samples for me to smell what tea leaves I would like to have with my Spice Girl; it was between Salted Caramel, Raspberry Rose & the Jaffa cake. The salted caramel was my favourite. Then, when the food and tea has arrived, they were beautifully presented. The poach egg is beautiful for £1.50 extra.
Normally, I have sugar with my tea, however, for this one I did resist the temptation of adding sugar. It was the sweetness after taste that was nice, but it was hard to describe it when drinking it. Also, the Spice Girl was amazing, again, I didn't ask for ketchup because it has maple syrup, why not try something new & different.
Also, the atmosphere and music is just perfect with the 80s and old 90s pop music like Des'ree, No Doubt and Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle", very relaxing, calming and it made me want to sing like my inner youth again! Definitely, need more places like these, if you do like "The Great British Bake Off", START supporting small local businesses like these NOW & wake up to the authentic homemade bakery & food.
It was so comforting, that I ordered more while I was catching up with my work. With a Oreo Brookie alongside with a cheeky scoop of vanilla pod ice cream & a White Hot Chocolate to finish off.
For anyone who fancies a specialty tea house, somewhere nice & quiet, away from the city noise, something to kick back & listen to your favourite classic & old school pop music, with a great variety of teas & a home feeling moment. This is the place for you!!
Thank you Dee & Kio/Keo for the very great service and chat. I will definitely come back again and try all of the dishes of the menu.

I love this place! I went there this week with my sister for afternoon tea. It was simply amazing! The place is quite small but beautifully decorated. They had scent bottles of the different teas. We had the bottomless tea and tried four, watermelon sugar, salted caramel, LOVE blend and Jaffa cake. Everything was delicious. The sandwiches were delicious and the scones and biscuits too. There was also bits of fruit on the beautiful plata. I had written a review on another site giving them four stars and I was totally impressed that someone called my sister to discuss our review and apologise for a minor mistake that happened. Hence the totally deserved five star review. The place is lovely, good service and delicious food. What’s not to like? We even bought a sample of our favourite tea. Be sure to ask for the bundle of different teas so you could try them at home instead of buying just one. Yes, go to biscuit and brew, you deserve a treat! I’d go back there if I go to Nottingham again.

Hi Linda, we're really happy you got to enjoy so much at the shop and it's really thoughtful of you to write out such a detailed review, we really do appreciate every word. Hope you enjoyed the tea you took home as much as the tea you had in the shop. If you want to find it again, it was actually called Lull (but LOVE would work too I admit!). And again, our apologies for any wrong done on our part during your visit. All squared up though now! See you again soon - Darren

My family and I went for afternoon tea. The quality of the food was excellent, with a range of homemade sandwiches, scones, cakes and biscuits. There are also lots of teas to choose from. The service was excellent throughout, informing us about the types of tea on offer and what the afternoon tea included. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the tearoom and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Also, it was great value for money. I absolutely recommend it if you want to treat yourself.

Poor service throughout.
Very disappointed with our visit today. Arrived at 4pm and checked the closing times on the door before entering which said 5pm, but the sign that would usually be outside with the menu on etc was inside like they was closing but I didn’t think much of it.
We asked for a table for 2 and was told ‘yes that fine but we close at 5’ we was sat next to another table which was very close to ours and we asked if we could sit on the platform area where is was empty other than 1 couple on a table and was told ‘no we don’t sit people up there as we like to clean it ready to close’ so basically i couldn’t have a private conversation with my friend as the couple next to us would be able to hear everything… and we could hear there conversations too. We didn’t want to speak about anything private but wanted to relax and chat between ourselves without having someone hearing every word. I can’t get my head around how hard it would of been to sit us on another table and wipe it down afterwards.
We ordered cake and drinks… again we was told ‘we don’t have many cakes left as it’s late in the day and we close at 5’ the staff where clearing the table of our plates and spoons as we was still drinking / eating - it was obvious they wanted us to hurry and leave by this.
Another couple came in and the staff member told them ‘yes come in but we close at 5 in 25 mins’ at 4.45 we was told ‘we close in 15 mins’ it was such a awkward environment as we just wanted to support a small coffee / tea place rather than going to our usual high street chain. We wanted to catch up and relax but we felt rushed and felt very unwelcome, really disappointed and I didn’t even finish my drink.
And just to add insult to injury the card reader asked if we’d like to tip!!
I just hope at 5pm this staff member had an appointment or something, as the whole thing was bizarre, I assumed a small family run business would be welcoming everyone with open arms and be grateful for the custom in todays climate.

Hi Alice,
Thank you for you custom. I do think your rating is quite unfair though. Our approach to this is simply to communicate to our customers in good time any important things we think we would want to know if we were customers. In this case, we feel it would have been ruder to wait until 5pm to tell our customers that we are closing at 5pm. We can't know which customers know our opening times and which don't so we communicate in the same way to all.
I should also add that we don't expect our staff to work later than their finish time, which is why we do close down certain areas of the shop. This is quite common in hospitality, but I'm sorry you found it upsetting. Similarly, the tip settings are automatic on our card readers but nobody is forced to tip; it's just an option.
I do know that other tables were available in the lower section after 4pm today and you would have been welcome to move to one of them if you had asked to. You could have also gone to the lounge if you'd preferred something more private. We give everyone this choice at the door when they arrive.

It was alright. I had the avocado and egg and was suprised to see that it really was just ‘egg’ (x1) despite having two pieces of toast. For £13ish I really would have expected 2 eggs. It did taste nice but only providing one egg did give a slightly penny pinching impression.
My father in law had a cappuccino, he likes his coffee piping hot and sadly sent the drink back as it was lukewarm. The next offering was the same. This might be due to using such big cups. I was fine with the lukewarm temp of mine so I think this is very much based on preference.
The space is very small so tables are quite cramped.
All in all the food and drink was alright but given the amount of options in the city I sadly would not likely return.

I don't leave reviews but when businesses lie you really do need to for the sake of potential customers... Me and my family all came here for afternoon tea and we all left feeling underwhelmed. The grapes were mouldy as stated in the previous review and your reply “one was on the turn” is just not true. At least 7/8 grapes had fur on, I presume you wash them before handing them out? The staff were stand off ish and the space crowded. (Reply will likely be patronising see below) However.. I do bet you can have a lovely afternoon here if you are dining for 2 and they carefully check the fruit, however at the cost of over £90 I wish I just hosted the event in my livingroom.

We came here today for a baby shower. I had contacted in advance regarding dietary requirements for our Afternoon Tea and paid a £25 deposit.
We arrived and it was very cramped. Not much room. For us to manoeuvre, especially our pregnant party. We ordered, adding an extra hot chocolate and juice, which should have been an additional £9. (Expensive but it was a celebration).
Our Afternoon Tea arrived. It was very cramped for space, not comfortable at all. The sandwiches were OK. The scones were lovely jam and cream served in old gu dessert pots. The other cakes were OK. The fruit however, we noticed was mouldy. I raised this and the staff member took it away. She said "it shouldn't be, it was off the delivery this morning." I did think they were very lucky to get Sunday deliveries, I also thought it strange that no real apology or replacement was offered.
We finished the scones the decided to leave. I asked for the bill, but no bill arrived. A different staff member arrived with the card machine. Surprisingly we had to pay £96! I asked if this was with the deposit taken off and was told yes. The email said we would pay £79 on the day. With the extra, that should have only been £88. The staff member didn't present a paper bill and whe asked just said it was correct. Not wanting to spoil the celebrations, I just paid it. I can only presume they charged £8 for the too water?!
Overall, it wasn't great. I wouldn't go back there are nicer Afternoon Teas in Nottingham for the same price, where there is more space and edible fruit.

Hi Diane,
We've taken some extra time to take in your 2* review so thank you for bearing with us while we got back to you.
One issue you raised was that our tea house is small and cramped. We wouldn't disagree that the teahouse is small - we only have room to fit 18 people in - and when it gets quite busy, which it often does on Sundays, it can be more difficult for everyone to find their own space. That being said, on the occasion of your visit we had reserved you a table of 6 for the 5 people attending and so we're really not sure what else we could have done? We would have been happy to discuss this with you had you let us know.
The more important issue you raised was that the food was "inedible and mouldy". Although we are not without fault here, I do have to address what I see as a clear intention to mislead others. As you will know (and thankfully you have included photos) you were served various fruits alongside your afternoon tea including strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and grapes. Now, our fruit is always fresh, stored and prepared to a high standard (meaning we consistently have been awarded 5* food safety certificates) before it is sent out to the table. Regretfully, and this is where we admitted fault to you on the day, a single grape from the bunch had begun to turn. I certainly do not want to diminish the importance of your complaint, when we are wrong we will always hold our hands up and say sorry. This is one of those cases. We remain as sorry for this now as we were then. We continue to take food safety very seriously and we should and do admit to the silly mistakes we make when we make them. But, that does not permit a generalisation to be made from one piece of fruit to ALL of the food we serve, particularly when it is food that you told us you were happy with.
As for the actual turn of events, Dee had pointed out at the time that unfortunately this can happen with fresh fruit - to which you agreed without reproach. Again, that is not to excuse the fault on our part. We still don't think it should have made it to your table and for that Dee had apologised at the time. We cleared away the fruit you didn't want and left you to enjoy the rest. Dee checked in on you later before you had finished to ask how things were, as we always do, and then again when you seemed to have finished your Afternoon Tea. You told us everything was fine, and we judged from the mostly empty plates that that was true. We had every reason to believe the problem had been resolved to your satisfaction. It seems almost like it was - until you decided to send us this unpleasant review.
One last clarification is needed. You mentioned the costs. When we take a booking enquiry for afternoon tea we always reply with a confirmation of that booking, which includes the current costs (not including what you might order on the day) as well as the terms and conditions of that booking. We confirmed the price of your 5 afternoon teas as usual. You added 1 luxury big top hot chocolate (one of the most expensive drinks on what we think is a well varied menu) as well as an extra juice. I can confirm that we did not charge you for tap water. We're not sure why you think we would. The remaining charge, as outlined in the terms and conditions that we sent to you before you arrived, was due to a 10% service charge on your bill. This is not something that applies to every booking. We reluctantly add it to larger groups of 5 or more where the workload required to meet our standards of service are greater than they would be were the same number of people to be spread out across more tables or at different times. Again, this is all described upfront in the terms and conditions that we sent you. You wrote that you asked one of our staff whether the bill was correct and I can also confirm that their answer was right. It was correct. I'm sorry you found this unclear. Had you brought up the issue at the time we could have given you a receipt without issue.
Some other side comments. We are committed to reusing and recycling and so yes, we do sometimes use Gu pots. Most people see this as a positive. For the same reason we also avoid printing paper receipts unless asked, which we've found is quite rare. Again, most people take this as a positive. Next, we can get deliveries on Sundays although we often collect stock ourselves when it is needed. It's not unusual and I don't appreciate the suggestion that we have lied. Lastly, you claimed that we did not apologise on the day and that the service was only worthy of a 2* rating. I am not sure how you have come to this view. Dee could not have been more apologetic to you. That is simply not true. More to that, we believe that as a team, we were very accommodating to you and your party, to the point of breaking off from our very busy rush period to take photos at your request. We don't have to do things like this, but we think it matters.
Aside from the issues for which we have apologised, I think the point of your review is to mislead people. I do not think you simply paid the bill without question so as to 'not spoil the celebration'. Rather, I believe you waited until you were home to write it here as an attempt to cause a small family business as much upset and damage as possible. Sadly, you have succeeded in at least upsetting us and so I hope that that has brought you some satisfaction. As to the damage you may or may not have hoped to cause to our tea house, we hope our current and future customers will see the inappropriate intentions behind the review and take the comments with a pinch of salt. In any case, if you would like to discuss any of this further then please feel free to come and speak to us in person.

Booked an afternoon tea for 6 people to celebrate my upcoming retirement. There is a large selection of leaf teas or coffee if preferred. When the afternoon tea came it was beautifully presented. The bread in the finger sandwiches was soft and tasty. The fillings were generous. The cakes are all baked by the owner and were light and fluffy. The scone was large and warm with a generous helping of jam and clotted cream to complement them.
I paid extra for ‘bottomless’ tea and our teapots were replenished as required, extra milk and sugar provided as required.
It was a very enjoyable time spent in this cosy tea room. All the people in my party eagerly arranged a date for us all to get together again for a Christmas themed afternoon tea. Definitely worth a visit and we will be going back. Felt it was good value for the price.

The place seems to have taken off especially since moving to its new venue in the New Year.
Not surprised it’s getting good reviews as the food is normally very good and the servers a good coffee as well as a huge selection of teas (their specialty).
This time we had a really nice guy serve us who was very attentive and helpful. To be fair the staff always are.
Will be back.

We came across this lovely little place on a morning stroll looking for somewhere to have breakfast. The tea comes in very cute pots with lovely china cup and saucers - all very quirky.
The staff were wonderful and service very good. We sat at a lovely table right next to the window and as the sun was shining, it made it all the more pleasant.
There is a downstairs area where we were told had more informal seating for maybe tea and cakes. It’s a shame we live too far away to sample these as we would definitely return if we lived nearer.
Really lovely - would recommend a visit.

We booked for afternoon tea for six. Two of which were very fussy children but the staff were amazing in sorting out a menu that they would both enjoy!
The sandwiches and cakes were stunning and the choice of tea amazing. We even purchased some of the tea to take home. Service was spot on! Had a really lovely afternoon and cannot wait to return.

Was in Nottingham for work and was recommended this place for lunch. Such a cute and calm atmosphere. Wanted to write a review as the owners were really lovely and helped me pick a tea. They recommended the tea Ghost Town as I didn’t want anything too sweet - it was delish!! Had a Country Ploughman’s sandwich and a brownie to eat and was all really yummy. Will deffo be coming back next time I’m in Nottingham :)

Paid another visit to Biscuit & Brew for pre booked afternoon tea. The choice of teas was extensive. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely. The customer service is second to none. I had originally booked for 6 people but due to illness there were only 3 of us. The owners were very patient with me as I tried to sort it all out. One was cancelled as had given 24 hours notice but couldn’t cancel the other two. The afternoon teas for the two missing people were boxed up complete with a sachet of loose leaf tea.
If you want a lovely cup of tea, or coffee with cake or a light lunch then I can’t recommend Biscuit & Brew enough. A small tea room with a big heart. They also cater for vegetarians and vegans. Pop in and try for yourself.

I rocked up to B&B absolutely hanging on a Sunday morning. The welcome was warm and gentle and the ambience in the cafe the same. I ordered a tropical tea and the poached eggs with avocado and it was exceptionally delicious. After a slow and leisurely breakfast I has a cheeky espresso for the road and felt like a whole human again.
Thank you for looking after me!
