Often it is the staff that make a pub what it is, this is certainly the case here. I was greeted by a smile by both staff members. Unusual? Well after visiting two other establishments close by early on a Tuesday evening it felt like it. I was served a pint of the delicious Abbot and rapidly decided to eat... More

Great pies - I had a chicken and mushroom and my companion went for the lamb shank which was amazing. Good selection of beers too. It was a little quiet which detracted a little from the atmosphere. Staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic

Only went for drinks. Good choice of ales and ciders. Nice atmosphere, amazing old building a 'must see' when visiting Nottingham. They do food and it is very good, we have eaten here in the past but was just having drinks this time. Nice pub to visit, gets busy at the weekend!

Short review.. Monday evening, 8pm, walked in, not busy but staff always welcoming, ordered a 5oz rump steak, cooked & served perfectly. A bonus is the Guinness at £1 with certain meals.. bargain.. This isn't the first time here, I honestly believe it's the best Guinness outside of Ireland.. (main bar) A MUST if your looking for the perfect pint... More

I have been visiting this pub for 25 years. It is a fabulous old pub, a nottingham institution. However the food has become so disappointing. Mass produced, small portions prevail. I had jacket potato which cost over £5 that was clearly microwaved, had no butter, hardly any topping and the dressed side salad was about 10 wilted leaves with no... More

We dropped by in between Christmas and new year while we were out and about on enjoying drinks and shopping! We sat in the bar area on the left as you come in! it had a great atmosphere, was nice and busy yet the friendly staff member on the bar welcomed us in appropriately and took our orders efficiently and... I met up with friends at the Bell Inn for dinner. The service and food was good as were the portions. Almost all of us had to bring leftovers home. There are multiple bars that also offer a fun vibe.

We regularly go for lunch at this pub and its always really lovely food. Unfortunately they took the ham and cheese sandwich and the meatball sub off the menu which were the two thing I always ate and were lovely but they're lasagne is delicious and I would definitely recommend it.
