Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s a few years since we were in Nottingham, but on a get together with mates the Bell was one of our “must visit” pubs. It didn’t disappoint and had the lovely, friendly early doors ambience that we always like. Add good service and decent...ales and it was nice to be back. This historic old pub with its attractive main bar plus cosy snug is always worth a visit and easily one of the best pubs in Nottingham.More

Just got back from an Xmas catch up with ex work colleagues. Cracking pub and beer spot on. Four of us dining, Turkey dinner rated as very good, Fish & Chips not bad. Remaining two including myself had Steak & Ale pie. Now we could...have done with a hammer & chisel to get through the pastry only to find very little meat inside. Triple cooked chips? You may call them that, i call them oven chips! Accompanied with hispi cabbage very undercooked and wishy washy gravy. At £13.45 it needs to be better please. Shame ruined a great afternoon out.More

Very nice pub located in the city centre with loads of history. Really nice surroundings and well decorated to provide relaxing atmosphere. Bigger than you think inside, three bar areas in all. Definitely worth a visit.

Always visit this pub when coming into Nottingham. Food normally ok. Today I chose the Turkey dinner and my husband the Korean chicken burger The dinner I had was really not worth the £15 plus it cost. Five "roast potatoes " which were bad and...not really roasted. A few carrots and brussel sprouts that were stone cold. Really couldn't eat them. The rest was two slices of plastic turkey and a pig in blanket. My husband's burger was lukewarm at best. Food should be hot and served on a warm plate. Nearly £30 for two lunches that neither of us enjoyed. Will not be eating here again.More

Wanted a meal before visiting the theatre so booked a table in The Bell, one of the iconic pubs in my native Nottingham. I had the steak and ale pie in which the meat bore little resemblance to steak. It was gristly and chewy and...for me inedible. After complaining the waitress offered me another pie, which I declined as I imagined it came from the samebatch of pies and would have been just as bad. I was then offered a free drink which I declined as I was driviing home after the theatre. So all I got for my £14.95 was a pie crust, which in truth wasn't too bad, some gravy, so called triple fried chips, which they weren't, and a chunk of braised hispi cabbage which for the most part was raw. I dearly now wish I had refused to pay for what was a very inadequate meal. My wife's chicken Kyiv was all right but nothing special. The waiting staff were very polite, it wasn't their fault.More

Hugely disappointed by what I expected to be a good old fashioned pub lunch. Ordered the signature burger dish for lunch. I should have suspected something when they had to check with kitchen whether this was available. After a few minutes, I was informed that...they had no bread buns and could I instead have ciabatta. This was fine. When the dish arrived, I started tucking in and tasted fish under the bread which I left as an unexpected extra dish. The onion rings seemed to have been battered with the fish and were disgusting.More
