We booked here as advise parking is quite bad so street parking. We arrived and the menu is on the wall due to being changed a lot. Unfortunately the menu is is the bar area where a lot of people were. We ordered our food but you have to explain where your table is and which room, the staff member... More

This tops the chart for an unfriendly welcome. The member of staff who served us was the rudest bar maid I have met. When we pointed this out to the manager she was no better. They clearly don't like visitors. We quickly drank up and left!

Always like dropping into The Vic, particularly at lunch time. The food and range of beers are usually excellent. Occasionally the staff can be a little 'off-ish' and, for gods sake, don't leave your mobile turned on in case it rings and you have to face their wrath!! Finding a place to park on the nearby side streets can be... More

Have been many times because of the phenomenal beers and have eaten on occasion, usually dinner. The food is generally good but not quite up to gastro pub standard. Anyway we had been to the nearby tip and decided to call in for an early lunch. My wife had the Mediterranean Vegetables which were OK although the rosemary and garlic... More

This i a lovely old pub, with sometimes great music, food is always good. But the clients are so pretentious, up their own backsides and full of self importance. Too many rules, no smoking, no phones allowed. With a more relaxed atmosphere and less self important people it would make a fabtastic pub.

What a real find - well known locally for the food and atmosphere - great local food, well prepared, good size portions, and served in a local backstreet pub - delightful to say the least! You may also like the fact they serve the best ales and beers, they keep the cellar very well indeed - top rated in my... More

The Vic is a local feature. It has some of the best beer in town, along with a fantastic selection of food. On the surface, this should be a five star review. It isn't. The pub has far too many rules. No phones are allowed on. Not a chair or table may be moved without official permission. Even late at... More

They didn't top up the pint enough. They also watered the hanging baskets when I went to the toilet and when I returned I found my seating area completely soaked. I felt very much as though It had too many rules for its customers, don't think it lives up to its potential and I'll never go back. I came a... More

Absolutely fantastic pub. Hearty portions of wholesome, home made fun and all served in a very prompt manner. The bar staff are welcoming, open to having a laugh and the selection of beers and lagers is perhaps longer than the food menu! The selection of beers is excellent and this pub is well worth a visit. 5 stars!

We don't visit "The Vic" very often, but when we do we always enjoy ourselves. There's an excellent selection of beers from local cask ales to continental draft and bottled beers. The food is great and all freshly prepared - the "wall of specials" is very tempting and changes regularly. Parking's a bit tricky, but the pub is within staggering... More
