Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited many times & generally quite good as possibly the best prices in the area with there all round goods & food. Thursday we popped in & very busy so popped into the cafe & no sausage rolls or light snacks available & also had switched to some silly 200deg coffee in a silly cardboard cup that was cold and wouldn't melt ice cream. The wife had a mocca that was also the same!! If you go ask for extra hot in a glass or cup & no cardboard.. You have been warned ⚠️ Hopefully a one off but will be sticking my finger in at the counter next time!!

The last time I went to this garden centre was 25 years ago! It's got a lot bigger.
We stopped for coffee and a cake and were pleased to see that there is a combination offer of coffee + cake for £4. Coffee was good, cake was good. The staff were friendly and it was nice to see efforts were made discreetly to keep surfaces clean.

We went here for Sunday Lunch. They do a carvery which looked very nice and very popular. It is situated in a garden centre which has a good selection of goods and well worth a visit. The cafe serves a good selection of meals and sandwiches. The cakes looked very good too. Will visit here again thoroughly enjoyed our meal. There is a large car park.

Went for lunch with family. They have a soft play there that’s £3 and is fairly good. Unfortunately it’s always dirty in there and no one appears to keep on top of the dirty plates. Tables aren’t wiped, seats are dirty. It’s just grim.
The cafe itself is cheap food, it takes ages to get served and there were really rude staff members who, I appreciate may have been stressed, but didn’t need to speak to customers so rudely. Wouldn’t go back. I’d suggest if you’re nearby keep driving and find somewhere decent.

Came here two days prior with my grandma and my mum and had a great experience. Thought I would bring my partner here a few days later for some lunch and was a totally different experience. The female staff behind the till spoke to us very rudely and totally ruined the vibes. They looked very miserable and like they didn’t want to be there, not only that we were the only ones in the cafe who wasn’t given saucer’s and teaspoons with our coffees. Seems they only want to be nice to you if you are older.Food was average but the panini had tin foil stuck to the sides of them. The gentleman who was running the food in and out the kitchen was very friendly and polite. He was the only reason it wasn’t terrible. Overall probably won’t be going to back as the price does not fit with the service standards.

Very poor almost an hours wait for food , when it came dried up cheese in the baguette , mushroom and Stilton soup no Stilton at all and the smallest portion I have ever been served . Kids Mac and cheese was so small it was embarrassing ! Left our 4 year old hungry ! Female member of staff rude and unhelpful ! Male members of wait staff friendly and helpful ! But won’t return for food a shame as garden centre is lovely

Oh dear! My friend and I have been meeting for lunch at Wellingtons for several years and have witnessed its steady and very sad decline.
Staff shortages, the right calibre of staff and cost cutting are probably largely to blame.
On Wednesday 6 November 2024 we had to queue for coffee at 11.30 am and service was chaotic. No coffee cups/mugs at one stage and 200 degrees take away cups were produced from the kitchen.
The young lady who served us certainly hadn’t been to charm school. ‘Do you want chocolate’ she barked, referring to a cappuccino we ordered.
Whatever happened to ‘would you like……..’ accompanied by eye contact and maybe a smile I wonder?
A few years ago our sandwiches would arrive with a truly gorgeous mixed salad and Doritos on the side. Goodness me, this time we received sad looking paninis with the tiniest suggestion of salad on the side.
Thankfully we did encounter one young lady who brought us extra milk with a lovely smile and pleasant manner. She apologised that she had had to put the milk in a takeaway coffee cup as they had run out of small milk jugs!
I do hope the Manager knows that reviews exist and reads them.
This cafe WAS once a really nice place to meet up but maybe we need to move to Notcutts Garden Centre just down the road instead ………
Such a shame.

Not a good experience.
Slow wait times on food, good job I didn't order my child any food as he wouldn't have waited over an hour for food. When food did arrive they only brought out 2 meals and then took another 10 minutes for the panini.
Fire alarm went off and we couldn't actually get out the fire exit.
Overall we will not be returning to the cafe which is a shame as the garden centre is lovely.

We ordered a coffee with the special of the day which was cheese and onion quiche..I had salad and coleslaw and my other half had his with chips and beans.
Coffee arrived tepid warm so I went and got a pot of hot water to top it up to make it hot.
Our quiche arrived…crusty round the edges and just warm my salad and coleslaw was ok. The chips were only just warm and beans looked like they had been under a heater all morning. I’m afraid I wouldn’t go there again and I won’t be recommending anyone to go there either.

Went for lunch with my husband to Cherry Lane today . He had a Senior’s haddock n chips, his usual choice. I chose Beef Pie, chips, peas and red cabbage. Don’t know why they serve red cabbage?? Beef pie must have been the very last offering which had been microwaved time n time again- pastry solid/concrete, begs n seasoned chips Ok. I would not have served the pie in such a state, I would’ve been so embarrassed!! Poor service which is such a shame!!

How can a cafe run out of chips? Had to re choose quickly and opted for bacon sandwich and the bacon was off - smelt disgusting. Staff were not helpful. Not the front of house staff’s fault but they are the ones at the coal face.

My wife and I visited today to buy lawn food in the garden centre
We went into Wellingtons for a coffee and ended up having a Sunday Carvery.
A choice of three meats and I think ten veg plus gravy, all washed down with a glass of red.
Excellent value.

Customer service was extremely poor . No help at all offered when clearly I had my hands full with a baby and toddler ( I’m the grandparent ) . I asked for help but the attitude from a young lady serving me was absolutely appalling

We had a wonderful breakfast here yesterday. The full English was just that - no budget sausage here thank goodness. My friend had Eggs Benedict that was wonderful apparently.
Our drinks were hot and the water was fresh and cold.
Friendly service even though they were clearly very busy.
