Excellent dinner with the best Steak Tartare I have ever eaten. The entire meal was excellent as was the service. A great evening.

Lunch World Service Restaurant. It is located just a short walk from Nottingham Castle. Since opening the doors in 2000, both the fine dining restaurant and lounge bar have built critical acclaim locally and nationally. A restaurant that has stood the test of time serving...modern British cuisine. Pre- meal cocktails are a must. We chose from their set menu. Which at lunchtime is £27 for 2 courses Starters Leek velouté. Smoked Haddock | Beignet | Dill Crème Fraîche. Dry Rub Pork Belly. Carrot | Mustard | Pearl Onions. Mains. Miso Honey Glazed cod. Mussels | Olives | Ginger | Beurre Blanc. Short Rib. Bacon | Shallot | Carrot | Pickled Onions. A side of the most amazing - Triple Cooked Chips | Parmesan | Truffle Emulation.£6 We resisted having a dessert. Service is very professional and welcoming. It's a great choice for any occasion.More
Incredible! We were met with a warm welcome, enjoyed drinks in the lounge before being seated in the restaurant. The staff were both friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. The scallops and fillet of beef cooked to perfection. Faultless. Thank you.
Not really one for writing reviews as I generally say my piece at the time. (Which I did). However, I feel as this is a fairly pricey place I want to say something.. Upon arrival we had a glass of champagne each and then served...with an Amouse-bouche (the poncey name for an appetizer where I come from). All nice so far. We ordered our meals and then escorted to our table. Some nice sourdough and fancy butter was served. Again nice. Starters came.. hubby scallops..me pork belly. Scallops were nice according to him across the table. Pork belly....bland and burnt was my only way to describe. But at the size of a large postage stamp it was gone before I could pass comment. Onto the mains... duck for the husband and fillet steak for me. First off the food was luke warm. The duck was served pink so the fat hasn't been rendered down and it was 2 slices from the breast not the whole breast. The fillet at first was tender but again just 2 slices not an actual steak. By the second slice it had become dry as by now it was borderline cold. Side order of broccoli which was over cooked not al dente. Red wine came in cheap white wine glasses (attention to detail here). Once we had finished we were rushed from our table with a bit too much haste. We sat in the bar area and noticed there were a lot of groups waiting to be seated. My take away was far too many covers for this level of dining and needs to re-up it's game. *note they did give us discount upon my feedback.More
Quality of food was unquestionable, but we were waiting for our table for a long time. Service at the table was excellent but my starter of Leek valoute with smoked haddock was very disappointing: a 1 cm cube of smoked haddock & a ball of...something else did not qualify as a starter. My main was short rib of beef & boy was it short: 3 inches long and half an inch width & depth. Very tasty but less than a starter portion which included a small carrot & a tiny amount of onion. The dessert was good. Wine was good but expensive. Value for money was very disappointing. If you have money to burn go as quality is good, but plan time to go for a take away afterwards or you will go to bed hungryMore
We went as a party of 8 on a works night out. We booked a private room which was amazing. Sarah, our waitress for the night , was exceptional, thank you Sarah. The food was outstanding, the jerseys royals amongst the nicest things I have...ever eaten ( you must try them), the starters, mains and desserts were all perfect. It’s not cheap, our bill was £800, but we all felt we had had an exceptional evening. We were a bit loud, sorry Sarah?More
A warm welcome followed by excellent service throughout. Started with an aperitif from a very wide ranging drinks menu. I fancied a very dry sherry, but couldn't find it on the drinks menu, so ordered something else. Found sherry later on the wine list! Odd....The food started very well with excellent first courses, and continued with the excellently cooked mains. It was just as well we ordered a side dish of potatoes, as the main dishes did not stand sufficiently by themselves. The potatoes were very tasty, drenched in teriyaki sauce and sesame seed, but unfortunately overpowered the other ingredients on the plate. I opted for the cheese course instead of a desert with a supplement of £5. This was a very deflating end to an otherwise good experience. Three tiny slices of not particularly interesting cheeses, six grapes, nine shop bought crackers and a dollop of red pepper puree was frankly a severe disappointment to an otherwise generally good experience. The fixed price menu is good value for money though. We both enjoyed the bottle of Carmenere from an extensive wine list ranging in price from expensive to astronomical.More
Disappointing, world service is one of our favourite restaurants however on this occasion it was very disappointing, the food lacked taste, we both had scallops to start, they were not very tasty I think they were frozen not fresh scallops, we both opted for fillet...steak it looked good but again had no flavour the tastiest part of the meal was the optional Broccoli. The wine we chose was sent back as it lacked any flavour, it was deducted from the bill. However this was getting late into the evening opted for another glass of champagne not ideal but too late order another bottle of wine. The only saving grace from this being a disastrous evening were the staff who really looked after usMore
Outstanding service and meal! Wonderfully welcoming and many a “wow just wow” moment with the food. House negroni was something else! Thank you WS Team top notch.
Took a chance as passing by on a rare sunny Sunday afternoon. Restaurant was busy but staff were friendly and helpful. Offered a table in the garden which was lovely as the sun was shining. Japanese mushroom soup starter, duck and beef roast were all...excellent. Service quick formal but friendly would recommend.More
Amazing birthday shenanigans last Saturday. First class service for all guests attending Dr Johns birthday. The table looked truly amazing in such a beautiful room. Thank you X
Was here for a birthday meal. Ordered the set menu Sunday roast. Starter - Scallops - Sauce tasted like Heinz’s tomato soup and was warm at best. Main - Roast beef was good, but overall the meal was cold and the vegetables were raw. If...I’m eating a meal I would expect to have a hot plate and to see the steam coming off the food. Desert - pancake was tiny and accompanying chocolate looked like a Tunnocks tea cake. Latte was so small that this wouldn’t have even satisfied a hobbit. Overall service was poor. We had to ask for sauces, cutlery, plates. Nobody asked how the meal was. For the amount I had paid, I certainly would have expected more. What disappointed me the most though was that everything was just tepid and raw from the food to the service.More
Real nice building, great location, great interior, cocktails and food were unbelievable, best cocktails in town
We dined here as a party of 4, 2 couples on a Friday night 7pm, all 4 of us had the fillet steak and we all agreed it was without doubt the best steak we had ever eaten. The textures, tastes and presentation of everything...we had was just incredible and the service was impeccable. For starters I had the salmon tartar which was amazing and others had scallops which they all said were the same.More
