My partner and I visited for our anniversary. We were returning customers and knew that it would exceed our expectations and suit our occasion. We had excellent service and a complimentary dessert. We shared a goan fish curry which was exceptional, enjoyed a glass of red wine and thoroughly enjoyed the calm and comforting atmosphere. The servers are incredibly polite, professional and attentive, surprising us with a delicious cheesecake with added sparklers for effect. Would highly recommend this restaurant to all. Enjoy!

This is a great restaurant with friendly staff and excellent food. We had the early evening set menu, which is perfect for a pre-theatre dinner. It was very good value with poppadoms and pickles pre-meal, then the starter and main served together on a platter with rice, daal and slices of naan. It was lovely presentation and delicious food. We will definitely be back to try the a la carte menu.

This is right opposite the Park Plaza in Nottingham where we were staying and wow so glad. we went for dinner there !
It’s a step up from other Indian Restaurants with a brilliant attention to detail !
Doesn’t have a huge menu because everything is fresh, serving the option of dish of the day, which is a speciality dish which for us was a chicken and spinach dish and absolutely amazing. Poppadoms and pickles were amazing as was the Peshawar Nan. I would also recommend a sweet - lots of options which is unusual for an Indian Restaurant - I especially enjoyed the Baileys Cheesecake😂
Staff were attentive and professional.
A definite recommendation !

Visited on valentine's day but was disappointed to know we were only allowed to order from the set menu which wasn't advised at the time of booking .
The selection of items on the set menu wasn't ideal ,the wine was horrible I couldn't finish it and I only had one glass the food was over powering and just not that nice . I was so sad to have hated the whole experience we've never been out on valentine's for a meal so after 16 years I thought let's push the boat out. I thought the place was ment to be quite a posh restaurant but it really isn't anything special. I can honestly say I'll never visit again I'm still fuming I wasted over £100 on mundane small portion food with cheap wine glasses no better than what you get in your local pub

Visiting from London for our daughters graduation.
The restaurant had been recommended to us by friends.
Paneer starters were not fresh. 4 x different curry mains were served in a soup like sauce and it was difficult to differentiate them.
Pilau rice not particularly fresh. Overall, an extremely disappointing meal and for the price, it represented incredibly poor value.
Contrary to the relatively consistent reviews this restaurant receives, I can’t recommend and would not return.

Past this place for years as I'm a lifelong Nottingham resident, always assumed it'll to Fine for my taste buds
However 15 of us went >in short I'd say it doesn't cater for the ethnic groups, from the point where you have a sarcastic bloke taking the order to being served Luke warm food > even after asking for he spice level to be increased to suit my palate , I'm dashed out food that felt like it'd had sat waiting before it got to my table
Out of the several dishes ordered by the non-veg eating group just 2 I'd say we're OK to be re ordered if I had the misfortune to visit this place again
In short , there are many , I Repeat Many places Gar better in the food the served n the manner in which they cater for their customers
This , is definitely Not id recommend to My friends, especially those of colour
As highlighted by many other reviews previously ( I hadn't taken notice n decided I'd go, should relied on those reviews)

We got there just before 10pm and were seated. When the member of staff came to take our order he told us to hurry up because the kitchen closes in 5 mins. Ok so we ordered 3 meals and 3 drinks. The food came within minutes (quicker than McDonalds !) We ate. Then the bill came £106. 1 starter, 3 mains, 3 naan breads, 1 rice, 3 pints. We hadnt asked for the bill. No offer of desert or coffee. Just eat up. Pay and go home. I did point this out but no-one gave a crap. Upshot is. If you want a good curry, go to CUMIN down the road. The food is way better and they are way more friendly.

Each year my wife and I visit Nottingham for England cricket matches and for several years we have booked a table at MemSaab for after the game. We have always had good service and enjoyed the atmosphere, especially if we spot the odd celebrity. The staff dress well and we do likewise. It is not the kind of Indian restaurant you go to for a few pints and a cheap curry.
This year we had booked as usual for 8pm and arrived in good time. We were shown to our table and as usual we were served quickly by different staff, one for drinks, one for food. We ordered main courses and sides and for drinks my wife had a cocktail and I had a pint of lager - I ordered another pint midway through the meal.
As soon as we finished the main course, we were asked if we wanted anything else. I ordered a dessert but as soon as it arrived, a bill was placed on the table. We were certainly not being invited to stay for a coffee or anything else.
While I was still eating the dessert a woman came over and spoke to my wife, asking her if we would mind vacating the table as soon as I had finished. A queue of England cricket fans was waiting (to judge by the cricket regalia) and the restaurant had clearly targeted us to be chased out quickly. The table of four next to us were enjoying a very leisurely meal and no pressure was put on them at all.
We spent £81.90 and were there for only 50 minutes. I have never been rushed out of an upmarket restaurant in this way, or indeed anywhere else. It placed a real dampener on the day and we shall not go there again.

First impressions were great, very friendly staff and the atmosphere was nice too. We ordered drinks, and then some poppadoms, the poppadoms were served with black hair on the plate to which the waiter just glanced at it said nothing and took the poppadoms away! We were given some fresh ones but no apology whatsoever. The poppadoms were very soft and bendy, not the usual crispy ones we are used to being served elsewhere. The meal tasted ok, although I was put off by the skin left on the chicken. Not the usual standards, I would expect after paying over a hundred pounds for two people. In my personal opinion, I wouldn't judge a book by its cover. What I mean by this is the amount of awards on the entrance.

The food is perfectly nice but for the price you are paying you expect a more exciting menu - I’m not sure it has changed in the last 5 years. The restaurant is starting to look tired and needs to be refurbished- the wall I sat near had paint flaking off and the chairs were dirty.
Better curry houses in the vicinity

Good food, but pricey. We were a large group of 14 people, and when the final bill arrived we were £40 short. The staff were insistent that we made up this shortfall, watching over us like hawks, even though we were paying them something in the region of £400 for the meal. This experience ruined our evening, even though we though we were being honest with the bill when it perhaps was a mistake made by management who wouldn't admit it. When will restaurant managers learn that if customers are treated badly, and have a bad experience, they will go elsewhere and not return? And more importantly, in these days of social media, word gets round fast about restaurants who treat their customers badly?

Mem Saab was my favourite indian restaurant in nottingham and
i returned this week for the first time in a while.
Wow, have far has this place fallen. For the first time ever in any restaurant
i was served a meal that was simply inedible. The lamb wasn't just tough
it primarily consisted of fat, gristle and cartilege so the "chef" couldn't
even be bothered to trim the meat properly.
I realise costs are rising but if you wish to charge premium prices
then you need to serve a premium product. Clearly we will never visit
again, hopefully this review helps others decide - superior alternatives abound
within easy walking distance.
The staff/manager basically blew off any complaint so customer
service is rock bottom too.

I had visited Memsaab once before with friends and had been keen to revisit with my partner and family, and this visit didn’t disappoint!
We all ordered different starters and mains and we were all very pleased with what we received.
The menu is varied and was nice to see a Goan Fish Curry included on the menu!
The staff were friendly and attentive and overall the setting of the restraint was very pleasant.
We are all excited to return to Memsaab when we can!

Came here to celebrate my husband's retirement and it felt very special. We had the most delicious food, an ostrich starter, a paneer and pepper starter, mixed grill and a beautiful Goan paneer and mushroom curry.
The service was impeccable, the food hot, tasty, and fresh. It's been a while since we've been here, we definitely won't wait as long next time.
A fabulous, atmosphere on a Wednesday evening. Your waiting staff are a credit to you and so are the chefs! You will not be disappointed, give this restaurant a go.

When I leave a restaurant, I want to feel positive; great atmosphere, service, food, value. 3 days later and I just can’t shake the feeling of being a little ripped off on valentines evening. No mention of a special menu when booked. No offer of normal menu on arrival. So £50 per head for a “special” menu. What did we get, champagne on arrival with amazing canapés? No! £50 each remember.
-1 popadom each with dips
-1 starter each, some carrying £3 excess
-1 main
-rice or naan
- a side to share
-pudding
Put that together on the normal menu and it’s not even close to £50 per head. Yes it was valentines night but the way they churned through customers this was just a big money night for them
Now the food was nice don’t get me wrong but the desert were like a buttermilk pancakes covered in jam and custard, shaped into a heart for special measure but struggling to see how this contributes to
a £50 per head “special” menu.
Anyway. 2 drinks each and service charge and I’m in for more than £150.
They were turning tables over faster than Macdonalds, couple next to us were in and out in about 45 min, we managed to string it out a bit longer.
So did I have nice food? Yes. Great service? Yes. Good atmosphere? Yes (live saxophone). Value for money? Sadly No.
Will I return? No, I won’t accept that sort of customer experience.
