Staying in chipping norton and found this lovely pub. We went on Tuesday night. Not very busy but we're greeted by staff and made welcome. Beautiful surroundings tastefully furnished. I had chicken and mushroom pie which was delicious. Daughters had the cod, put lentils and braised leeks, both thoroughly enjoyed meal. Well worth a visit. Will definitely return if in... More

We were staying at the Crown and Cushion (see review) but they could not find any tables for Dinner for their residents! Instead we crossed the road and tried here. What a great chance. The staff were very friendly and we were quickly settled in the bar area having drinks and looking at the menu. I chose the Scotch egg... More

We visited last night, I think the place has had a refurbishment. It has bad reviews from last year but I think the place has definitely improved. The staff were exceptionally kind, helpful and attentive (fair haired man and a lovely, smiley woman) so kind, so helpful and the food was amazing. One of the best places in the area... More

Popped in for lunch. Simply excellent. Great food, drink and service. Bar man was a super host. Will certainly return if in the area again.

It used to be a well-used local watering hole. Now it is transformed into a great quality pub and eatery with my favourite Young's beer (although no "Winter Warmer " on my first visit). There are plenty of nooks and crannies to sit and socialise or have a quiet conversation and bigger rooms for private functions and bigger get-togethers. The... More

We went to the Blue boar to watch the Rugby. We arrived early due to England v Wales match to find that all of the seats around the TV area were reserved for the locals. Now I appreciate looking after the regulars but the people sat near us, sat talking all the way through the game and were clearly not... More

Popped in for a last-minute Sunday lunch and was very impressed. Real fire going, nice background music and efficient service at the bar. There is a lovely restaurant at the back, but we ate in the bar. Both opted for the chicken, ham and leek pie which was lovely! All the staff were very friendly. We were sorry we couldn't... More

Great place to go for Sunday lunch. Warm welcome. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Hearty roasts (can even have all three options on same plate'). Terrific refurb but still in keeping with traditional pub. Well done Youngs.

Only stayed a few hours for drinks while England beat Wales in six nations rugby. Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff, people of all ages and dogs allowed. Would like to try food as it looked amazing.....

My family and I went here for a Sunday roast. The male waiter was brilliant with my 7yo son, he did a magic trick, and dealt very well with him. The other staff was very attentive and food was a credit to the pub, which is more than can be said for a pub near the town hall. Will be... More
