The Rooftop Restaurant at the Ashmolean is a very pleasant place for an afternoon tea.Their selection of tea is impressive and scones with clotted cream are delicious. We were looked after by Andrea who was very friendly and professional. The amount of care and attention we received was just right and her omnipresent smile charming. We will definitely be back!

Our second visit to the restaurant was Jaz night we spent a very pleasant night eating good food with background music. for a cold early January night the restaurant was quite busy but staff dealt with this very well.

Went to have a drink at the end of a Members' viewing evening. Lovely rooftop place (even better in summer when you can sit outside). Appreciated excellent service from Andrea. Good choice of wine by the glass, and cocktails too. The choice of things to nibble with drinks is too limited and not really very attractive; that is my only... More

Food was good but when we where there two of our choices, on an already limited menu, had run out. Service was slower than expected so don't go there for a quick meal. The food we had was excellant.

very good service from Andrea. Music from the kitchen not to obtrusive but relieved when this noise stopped and conversation was good enough not to need a distraction. Maybe wonderful kitchen staff could play their choice of music in one ear bud and let the diners enjoy their conversations?

After watching the fantastic matinee performance of The Commitments, we were looking forward to having dinner at the Apolean Restaurant. I ordered Lamb Tagine being, and being a fan of Moroccan food was very disappointing. It was more like canteen than restaurant food, and was very mediocre and tasteless, and the cut of lamb used was fatty and chewy. Also... More

Highly recommended. We had a fantastic three-course meal at the Ashmolean's Rooftop Restaurant. The ambience is really cool (there was even a jazz set playing the night we were there), and I really liked the sense of calm and relaxation that comes from getting away from the hustle and bustle of the busy street below. The food was really delicious,... More

Fabulous place to enjoy afternoon tea, Looked after very well, although I did quite like being sat with my back against the glass wall near the stairs, took the shine off a bit x but the afternoon tea was good

Having constantly reviewed this place through its improving customer service I feel compelled to say.... It's arrived. Fabulous food, excellent service, good vfm. Can't fault it. Make sure you book and look up the Jazz evenings. I'm very excited about this. Esp as once the shopping centre is open the competition for good eateries in Oxford will ramp up and this... More

I'd heard good things about this place. Our welcome was a bit 'tired', the table by a frequently opened door (it was a chilly day in October) which the staff using it kept forgetting to close behind them. The wait for our food after ordering was a very long one and when the luke-warm food arrived, there wasn't much of... More
