Expensive and terrible food. Microwaved tasteless quiche. Even the coffee was tasteless. Exploiting the tourist market.

Went in here to try and find a table for 6 of us. No one asked to help or even pointed out if they could accommodate. Instead when we tried to walk upstairs, got shouted at that this was for staff only (maybe put a barrier up or maybe a sign). We promptly left, not a word spoken by the... More

We visited the premises twice during the day and on both occasions we were warmly met and the value was excellent.

We stopped at this café as we wanted to support a family run business ...... how wrong we were!!! We ordered a quiche, salad and coleslaw and a tuna melt Panini, with crisps and salad. I must mention here that we clarified before ordering that the quiche would be served hot. The quiche had been microwaved so therefore the pastry... More

Friendly cafe with great waiting staff, the home made cakes are lovely with a good choice (plus gluten free options) can't understand an earlier comment about the use of tea bags - I'm a hardened tea drinker and I thought the quality was good - no supermarket blend cheap bags on offer here!

We stopped here for tea and cakes. The tea was okay but the cakes disappointing. Not sure we'd bother again.

My family of five visited The Buttery for breakfast two days in a row. We were staying in the hotel as well and found that experience perfectly fine. On the first morning, breakfast was more than adequate. The cafe/ hotel has a lot of advantages, such as its superb location and great views of Broad Street, but my experience was... More

Our visit left me with mixed feelings: the positive: the cakes were homemade and excellent. The negative - I remain unimpressed by the use of 'teabags' - there's no excuse not to offer fresh leaf tea for the tea drinkers, especially those who like the more delicate varieties. Not everyone likes coffee. teabags are lazy.

....however the staff and speed of service let them down. We ordered 2 coffees, bottle of water, bag of crisps and slice of cake (cake was already sliced). Was given a table number and sat outside. I think it must have taken 15minutes for our table number to be called. This was at about 10:15, so not really a busy... More
