We arranged to meet friends for Sunday lunch at the Oxford Kitchen. Typical Sunday menu but far from typical Sunday food. Excellent scallop starters, unbelievably tender roast lamb with the best roast potatoes I have had anywhere, even in Michelin establishments. Roast beef similarly excellent and an inventive, beautifully presented chicken dish (rather than just plain roast chicken) for my... More

Great seasonal fresh ingredients, perfect balance of flavours! Minestrone soup light and delicate, followed by the tender British lamb and a sweet strawberry finish with the desert. A mixture of a few complimentary dishes thrown in also. Friendly and attentive staff, definitely recommended spot! Only slight down side is the £5-10 taxi ride out of Oxford city centre, but well... We have lived in Oxford for 30 years and we know every venue that you can possibly go to. Browns and the Mitre are the only two main restaurants that have lasted this time. Although Browns has had more changes than Prime Ministers and the Mitre suits a certain client, unfortunately not us! Anyway, Oxford has needed a new dining... More

Was here for lunch today with a friend. The restaurant itself is inviting and contemporary inside and we were seated in a booth towards the back of the restaurant. We both chose from the 2 course menu at £35. I ordered the beef dish (£7 supplement) which was very tasty and the portion size was good. My friend ordered the... More

Have been here about 1/2 dozen times in the last two years. Oxford is really short on fine dining restaurants for the size and wealth of the city so the Oxford Kitchen is very welcome. The service staff try really hard, perhaps it doesn't come naturally to them but they have clearly been tutored on customer service but nice people.... More

We chose The Oxford Kitchen from previous reviews. The restaurant is in Summertown, approximately 2 miles from the City Centre but on the main bus routes into town. The set lunch offers 2 or 3 courses with a broad and inventive choice. I had Confit duck pate as a starter and breast of chicken as a main, followed by cold... More

We chose The Oxford Kitchen for our wedding anniversary dinner, it having been recommended to us by friends. From the moment we were welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff, the whole experience was excellent. We chose the tasting menu, a very wise decision, as we had some unique and delicious dishes. The decor is modern, comfortable and tasteful, with... More

Went with family for birthday dinner and had the spring tasting menu. The dishes are nicely presented with an attempt to present interesting combinations of flavours. Unfortunately it fails to do that in some of the dishes. The best one was the lamb. The service was attentive but not as refined as you expect in a place defining itself as... More

Went for a outings with friends. The food was nicely presented and tasted superb. The service was also enthusiastic. The only complaint that I might have is that the portions were small! The prices are towards the high side but then it's worth it

One mistake (leaving the black pudding off a scallop dish altogether) but overall this was a very nice meal. A particular highlight for me was a poached chicken breast with black truffle, pomme puree and broad beans. It was absolutely delicious and was a very well made plate of food. Fellow diners also enjoyed their choices including a skate wing... More
