Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

What a gem of a restaurant! We booked for 6pm thinking it would be quiet on a Saturday evening. How wrong were we. We initially were a little disappointed to be sat upstairs, out of the main dining room (which was full), however we had...a much more quieter and intimate dinner. The service and food were of equal high standard. I had moules et frites for my main course...some of the best mussels I have ever had. My husband and I are already planning our next visit! Bravo, bravo!More

Our recent visit to Pierre Victoire was a bit of a revelation! The menu is varied and tempting making it actually difficult to choose, always a pleasant situation to be in and the service is attentive but never intrusive. Our food was simply delicious -...cheese soufflé and a fantastic fish dish with a moreish Thai inspired risotto. It was lovely. Great atmosphere, generous portions - clearly food made with love and pride. Outstanding.More

If according to you French restaurant means old place, old music dirty place, greasy plates and British pudding, well that’s a good place for you ! If you expect l’élégance à la française, in a trendy clean place, with great and light food, just avoid...that place. This is a scam … Go to PompetteMore

Hospitality at its finest 👏 👏 Been to Pierre Vitois for the past 15 years. It’s a very special place to go and is by far the best in Oxford! We dined last night and the place was full. Speaks for itself on a dark...cold Sunday evening. The menu has a superb range of dishes that makes it a real difficult choice when ordering. We all had a different three course option and all were blown away with the flavours and dishes on offer. Service was superb, even though it was busy the waitresses were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for an incredible evening and we cannot wait to be back!! Merci Beaucoup!!!!!More

Not bad French country cooking, but overpriced for what it was. Service was brisk but friendly. I had the chicken main which was warm-hot and I suspect reheated or prepared earlier in batches. We had the 2 course set dinner which was £28.50 each for...2 courses (accompaniments to the main courses were extra at £3.50). So for two people including 2 glasses of standard house wine came in around £83 for two including service. At this price point, I personally expect more to be honest. We were tourists and maybe for Oxford this is average. Curiously, most the restaurant seemed filled with much younger twenty-somethings, which seemed surprising to us given the prices; I’m assuming Oxford youth must have a much higher level of disposable income compared to the rest of the country’s youth!More

Ate here with friends and had a thoroughly good meal. We all had the filet steak and various starters and the quality was excellent. Wine list comprehensive and well priced and the ambiance and attitude of the staff were first class. We would definitely return!

We had our last meal of our two week trip to England at Pierre Victoire and it was perfect in every way. The food was delicious and classic French cuisine, including the Steak Frites and Creme Brulee. The atmosphere was absolutely charming. It was a...nice way to end our wonderful trip.More

Lovely restaurant, great staff, such good food, very reliable on Gluten Free food, good wine. Initially we were pleased to be in a smaller room at the back upstairs but sadly one other table of four in that space behaved as if they had the...entire 3 storey restaurant to themselves, and therefore ruined it for ourselves and another table of 2 in the same space. We should probably have asked to move downstairs, but hey, the British, what are we like, don’t want to rock the boat! We definitely go again.More

The most amazing independent restaurant in Oxford, which is hard to find these days, amazing staff, used to go every week for lunch only stopped when we moved. Still miss the place, the amazing staff, the delicious food. Such reasonable prices to boot. Do go...you will not regret it, 8 think it’s Oxfords best kept secretMore

We visited the restaurant as a part celebration of my 60th Birthday. Oh my life i was not disappointed i truly can say this was one of the best meals i have had in a very long time. The Moules Mariniere were simply divine, so...tasty and the sauce absolutely perfect. This was followed by duck in a blackcurrant sauce with a potato rosti like no other. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, wine excellent, ambience lovely and not rushed.More

Excellent. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to for a while. £38 prix fixe three courses. Drinks were not extortionate. Excellent service nice atmosphere, I must say the portions might have been a little more! The carbs were tiny. I thought rice packet would...be a portion of rice not two tiny pieces of rice in batter , like small potatoes! I’d have ordered potatoes or something as well. But I’d certainly go again. You can't fault x2 course and 1/2 bottle of wine for 2 of us under £80! The Soufflé starter was amazing, but the new pork main needs some work. I did feedback that the cracking needs to be crackling or just leave it on the...plate. Everything else was a winner...More

Thanks for your question . Yes that’s correct the evening menu meats on offer are duck , lamb and chicken . If you’d really rather turkey then we can do that for you , as long as it’s arranged in advance . Best wishes PV
