Been here on several occasions and never fails deliver on tasty food, at exceptional value. Small, buzzy restaurant with attentive staff. The fixed price menu £11.50 for 2 courses or £14.50 for 3, is fantastic value with plenty of choice. The house wine for a bottle is just over £16 and a good choice. All in all perfect value and good food, not fancy but value for money. The celeriac & beetroot starter is delicious. A nice touch is they always put a bread basket and butter on the table for no additional cost. Only one small gripe is I asked for a hot chocolate after lunch but they don’t serve it, just coffee.

Had lunch here during a visit to Oxford to see exhibitions at the Bodlean and Ashmolean. Had booked a table and glad we did, the place soon filled up. Our table was on ground floor and 'off the street' customers seemed to be taken upstairs. THe lunch menu is primarily 'Prix Fix' with other options such as Mussels, Steak, Fundue. A good range of starters (£3.00), mains (£8.50) and desserts (£3.00). We shared a whitebait to start, I had duck confit, my wife slow roast belly pork with Isles Flotant and chocolate/bannana creps for dessert. All was beutifully cooked and presented, with attentive service. With a half bottle of Cotes du Rhone and two coffees the total bill was £45.80 - outstanding value for money. Definatley on the list for a return visit.

There's no shortage of places to eat in Oxford, but this was outstanding. It was busy on a Sunday evening (always a good sign) and the staff, clearly working very hard at the end of a long day, still went out of their way to smile and ensure we had everything we needed. The food was very good, decent quantities, not much hanging about waiting for it. I had monkfish, my husband had cassoulet and we were both very pleased with our choices. These sort of bistros are never very cheap, but this one offers more value for money than many. It is proudly independent and family-run, and it shows. We'll be back.

My daughter and I have spent a couple of nights in Oxford as a treat post GCSEs (that weren’t actually taken due to Covid - weird times for those who didn’t get to sit their exams!). We love Paris and usually visit for the French Open - another victim of Covid. Pierre Victoire is like a little bit of Paris in the trendy Jericho area of Oxford. Everything about this wonderful restaurant oozes authentic French charm from the jazz music to the pictures on the walls and the amazing food which is better than most French bistros I have visited in France itself. Everything is freshly home cooked using locally sourced ingredients. The wines are excellent and competitively priced and the service is friendly and attentive without being oppressive. Even on a very busy Wednesday evening when the restaurant was as full as social distancing would allow the staff all maintained humour and grace under pressure. Covid measures were apparent with each table having its own hand sanitizers and the staff wearing masks or visors. If only we lived in Oxford we would be regular visitors.

As part of a Covid-19 imposed home road trip we found ourselves with one night to spend in Oxford after finding this restaurant on TA we rang and were booked in straight away, they offer a fixed price set menu and are a family run business.
i have travelled far and wide and have to say this is some of the best food I have ever tasted also I have paid much more for comparable fayre.
Excellent service and mood. I will head straight here if in Oxford again.

I've been going to Pierre Victoire for many years and thought it was about time that I left a review. I love this restaurant along with my family and friends, it has a really cute atmosphere with the candle light and the staff are always very friendly and helpful.
The food is always delicious and very reasonably priced, if you have a look at their set menus you will see what good value the food is especially for the quality you are getting. It's always clean and they have been following covid procedures carefully which is great to see, it makes me feel very comfortable when visiting.

A group of us ate here using the fixed price menu. There is a selection of about 6 items for each of the three courses, £3 each for starters and desserts, and £8.50 for the main course. The portions are reasonably sized, and you can add more vegetables etc if you want to. Service was a bit slow at first, but picked up once the orders had been taken.

My parents visited Oxford and I took them to Pierre Victoire on a Friday night. We booked in advance and took advantage of the set menu, 3 courses for £27.50. The food was amazing, all courses were delicious and cooked to perfection! I had the duck and rabbit terrine to start, roasted duck with potato rosti with side of carrot and french beans for mains and then for dessert I split with my mum. We tried the iles flottantes and delice au chocolat, all courses were amazing and I would go back many times again! The staff were very helpful and friendly despite it being a very busy night.

We have been visiting Pierre's for a while now and are used to the poor service which seemed almost part of it's charm (waiting at the door to be seated can sometimes take 5-10 minutes) or not having the table ready despite booking it. However, yesterday hit a new low. We had booked for 2pm for my husband's birthday and were excited to see a new menu. The starters were fine, chicken liver parfait and moules. The mains were really not up to standard. Husband ordered cassoulet (his mother is French so he is very used to eating cassoulet) however he was really not enjoying it so I swapped my chicken with a bacon and mushroom duxelle for his. I have to say the chicken came out and the dish looked awful. It was covered in a sweet cloying cider jus which didn't go well with the dish. The cassoulet looked dried out and the duck on top was cremated. We have eaten better cassoulet out of a tin. The waitress took our plates and remarked that we hadn't eaten them, and not liking confrontation we just said they were not to our taste. We ordered pudding as we were still hungry and the poached pear was inedible. There was no hot chocolate sauce, just a pear in watery slop with ice cream, which I left. I love food ordinarily but this was so bad it was out of the ball park. Then at 3am I awoke feeling ill and proceeded to be sick. Was it our meal?? My husband wasn't sick and the only thing he didn't have were the Moules. Based on this we have decided never to visit again. Very poor indeed. I no longer find waiting at the door charming. It is rude and irritating.

Found this little place on Trip Advisor and it was tucked away in a side street. It has a real French vibe complete with the waiter trying to speak some French although he was an English student! We sat upstairs on a hot evening and it had air conditioning which was welcome. There was a very good value Prix Fixe menu and I had Roquefort souffle and my husband had scallops both of which were delicious but my steak which I had with a pepper sauce and frites was wonderful - it was 8oz which I thought I would never eat but it melted in the mouth and I finished the lot. My husband had duck which he thought was superb and we just loved the place - it will definitely be a regular place to visit now on our trips to Oxford.

We came to oxford for the Bank Holiday weekend and did Internet research to find a nice independent restaurant that suited our taste. We travel to France a lot so Pierre Victoire seemed the perfect choice. Although it should be noted that it’s not quite in the middle of the city centre and was a 15 min walk or a ten min drive.
Arrived five minutes before our reservation and had to wait outside until a staff member noticed us which took a good few minutes but we were soon brought into the warm and taken to our table.
We ordered drinks that were brought to our table along with some bread and water, I honestly could’ve eaten a couple of plates full of the bread.
Our starter came very quickly, l’escargot with garlic butter and smelt and tasted amazing. Our mains followed quickly after, steak frites and chicken supreme and both were very well received. The steak was perfectly cooked and frites were crispy and plentiful. For the dessert, we ordered the chocolate fondue which was a slight disappointment as the chocolate was very bitter and not sweet at all and the marshmallows being toasted were very hot and soggy inside.
Overall we much enjoyed our meal here. The only criticism I could give that maybe the time between courses was a bit quick for me (all food delivered and eaten in 50 mins) and the chocolate too bitter but that’s personal taste and I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again should I be in oxford again 😊

A little off the beaten track but definately worth the walk. A few very good wine bars nearby before our meal. We had 2 courses plus bread plus house wine for £76 - pate and scallops to start followed by fillet steak and Bouillabaisse , all absolutely excellent. Staff very attentive and efficient, certainly one of the best meals I have had.

A lovely authentic French restaurant. The menu is typically French and the dishes were really outstanding value for money.
Our waitress was delightful and made the evening really special. Would definitely visit again.

My wife and I had a two-day break in Oxford this week and I saw some good recommendations on Trpadvisor for Pierre Victoire restaurant. I am so glad I booked, the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere, the staff were so friendly and helpful and WOW, the food was just incredible. We liked it so much, we booked again for the following day. The quality of food is as you would expect for "Fine Dining", but the cost of the meals is very reasonable. Next time we are near to Oxford, we will most certainly go back to this restaurant. I recommend it to everyone.

Lunch for 2. Had not made a booking and were very lucky to get the last table! Excellent from start to finish, lovely buzzing ambiance , brilliant staff. Took the Prix Fixe menu and we were not disappointed. Probably the best lunchtime meal we’ve had in this country for years! Why can’t more restaurants manage to produce such goo quality food at such a reasonable price?!
Only wish we lived nearer- would be there again and again!
