Stale food. No Authenticity. A supermarket take-way taste far better than madras cafe's food. Unfriendly staff. I ordered pepper chicken, I can hardly taste pepper in it. Biriyani is just boiled chicken pieces with over cooked rice and no flavour whatsoever. You will be better off buying Indian food from Tesco nearby. They only accept cash and long wait even... More

We went here recently after a long time and felt that the food has improved since a decline in quality after a new management take over. The ambience however is somewhat lacking , maybe due to the almost total lack of service( in terms of waiter/ waitress). You have menus on the tables and there seems to be a large... More

Last day was my third visit to Café Madras. We most of the staff member from Bio/University of Reading was there quite often. We were not treated as a customer. Staff doesn't know what is service industry? How they treat their customer. Nether they understand what we asked for? This is not the first time. I was seriously disappointing. Food... More

Very Disappointed with today's visit. NO NEXT VISIT. Severe quality and food safety issue. Idli ordered was very hard and nothing like texture of idli. worst ever idli. Mix vegetables was completely spoiled. They offered to replace it but we were so concerned on quality especially when the food was meant also for toddler and pre-school kids. Horrible masala chai.... This place serves good options ranging from the classics- Idli, Dosa, Vada, Sambhar, etc. in various varieties. They also serve other good Indian dishes (both North Indian and South Indian) as well. Value for money if you want some traditional stuff. Location is excellent as well.

The food was nothing close to the south indian taste, in fact was stale and served burnt and smelt horrible. Informed the Manager about the burnt food and all he had to say was ok and laughed! This is pathetic customer service and I would not recommend anyone to try Madras Cafe in Reading.

In spite of reading horrible views, we decided to go to this restaurant for a quick south Indian bite. When the food arrived, it was ugly! I smelled vadas, it was horrible. Vadas were refried and upon questioning the server admitted that those were prepared on previous day. When I asked him why do you serve stale food to customers?... More
