Had a good family late lunch. Good selection on the menu and speedy attentive service. Even brought out candles on brownies as a birthday treat made nice with fresh fruit and happy birthday piped on it.

Quiet at lunchtime, attentive friendly service. Menu gone a bit upmarket since our last visit - better than the other chain pubs. Whitebait was superb as was steak and best sweet potato fries ever. Bit more expensive than an average pub but worth it. Car parking

This is part of a small chain of gastropubs. When we visited, it was quiet, but the rooms are small enough to make the atmosphere cosy and welcoming. The food was well presented and not over-priced and the staff pleasant. There is also a well-chosen wine list. We have booked a return visit.

Good example of a modern European/British casual dining, and yet still feels 'formal' enough for a special occasion. Started with the juicy lightly battered whitebat and - again - I had the suckling pig to follow. Such a rich jus! Washed down with a Malbec. Service is always good. They were busy, so was slightly slow to get seated etc,... More

Ate here last night and was delighted to find somewhere a bit more up market in Reading. Food was excellent - duck amazing! Atmosphere lovely and relaxed. Only fault was slow service at the bar where we sat after dinner

I went here for the first time and I firmly believe that I was either invisible or that apartheid has reared its ugly head in Reading. Not one member of staff acknowledged that I was standing in clear view beside the front reception desk (waiting for a party of fellow diners), whilst the manager (?) and the staff bowed and... More

Group dinner - food was of quite a good standard there was pluses and minuses. Eton mess as a desert was a disaster! Lump of cream - no-one liked it. Mains and starters were good however! Wine was expensive but good selection. Staff friendly and helpful.

Just brilliant...from the seating environment, the food and the staff. We had the Sunday roast menu which was so delicious. My mum only eats fish and had the most amazing meal whilst we enjoyed a roast. Our waitress was Hannah and she was so sweet, attentive and provided great service. Well worth a visit to enjoy this amazing setting and... More

Bel and The Dragon has everything you'd want from a good restaurant; a stylish yet not garish interior with sensible space between tables. Options to eat inside or outside (weather permitting), great service and a good drinks selection. Food is consistently good, with a cleverly seasonal menu which keeps the options limited but the quality high. Also good for lunch... More
