Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From the arrogant and rude doorman who made my friends and myself feel very uncomfortable to the surly and rude staff, this place should be avoided at all costs. A horrible little stain of a venue in an otherwise excellent area.

Delicious food, lovely place. We shared the mushrooms and wings for our starter, followed by burgers and fries. Very tasty! We’re looking forward to going back soon.

We met here for a reunion Saturday night as a gathering place to meet up before going on. It was great looking place spacious and well lite. It was interesting when a drink was not available at the bar we were not informed they just...did not serve anything. So when we were missing a drink we went back and they just said yes we don’t have that! It’s located well and the beer was good!More

I really like having drinks here, but it has really been let down by the bar, ordered a G&T and the tonic is on tap! It was like lemoade, I did ask but he assured me it was tonic. Switching to tonic on tap is...a bad move as it is rank. Go back to tonic in bottles and we will return.More

You need to know where this place is as you’d easily drive past it without knowing Love Kelham Island and how you drink eat in a mixture of old and new buildings and the vibe is chilled with all age groups Old Workshop is an...old building I’d suspect part of the steel industry in years gone by but has a great charm about it. Staff are great and chatty and they serve a good selection of beers and lagers, be aware it does get busy (there’s no surprise) not a huge amount of seating so be prepared to stand but nevertheless a great spot for a beer and to socialise Definitely recommenced to visit and chill for an hour if you’re in Kelham 👍🏼More

It was late when we arrived, and the bar staff were great, drinks served no issues, however no body said closing in 10 minutes. Bouncers (floor staff) were then quite pushy to get us out and when we went to the toilets they took our...drinks away even though they were still half full. Obviously profit before customers.More

I love it here. Always has a great, friendly vibe from both staff and other people in the bar and great drinks on tap.

Neepsend is a great new area to try, It is more casual than going into the city centre, so fab! The Old Workshop has a good atmosphere and the imaginative decor reflects the industrial area which surrounds it which is great. There are a good...range of special beers, lagers and other drinks too. definitely one to try.More

A popular bar with reasonably priced drinks and a good atmosphere. We went on a Friday night when it was very busy so no seats available but still a good night!

Great place for drinks. Love the decor. Staff really friendly. Had rhubarb gin which was delicious with ginger tonic. Good selection of drinks. Been with work colleagues recently on a Thursday around 5pm (on road parking) but also visited a few times on Saturday evenings,...where it is busier as quite popular. V near the Pedlers Market. Will be returning.More

What a great bar, from the outside it looks like nothing special, but when you open the double doors its like a tardis inside. Good selection of drinks excellent gin shelf , nice atmosphere and a ramp up to the bar, so easy access for...wheelchair users. The kitchen was closed so just drinks only, definitely on the must come back again list.More

Was taken here when visiting friends. On the small side but with a great atmosphere and some good beers on offer. Would certainly go back.

We were really looking forward to having the pinchos early evening before going out to eat somewhere else. Very disappointed to get there and find they they are no longer offered, and we were told the kitchen is permanently closed, What a shame - this...was such a good idea and a welcome addition to Kelham Island's offer. Now it looks as though it's just going to be another drinking establishment.More

On a “pub crawl” around the area and stumbled on this little gem. Good beers, wife and friend tried the mulled gin and loved it. Very good atmosphere, worth a visit.

I was taken to The Old Workshop by a friend who knows what sort of place I like. He didn't get it wrong. It is full of atmosphere and somehow pulls off the "bare brick, as it was, rough and ready" look that other bars...in the City don't quite manage. Staff were very friendly and had good banter, Friday evening early doors trade was building nicely as we left. Good range of 'proper' beer and they specialise in Pincho's to eat but we didn't have time. Good excuse to go back soon (as if I needed one!). It is slightly outside the 'real' Kelham Island immediate area (just over the Ball Street bridge on the Don), but as the area is rapidly expanding it can still be called Kelham Island I'm sure.More

No car park obvious but plenty of street parking (some not so well lit) in the surrounding area.
