Fantastic food, great menu, excellent service and in a good location. Just make sure you get confirmation through if you book online as when we turned up there was no record of our booking but they were still happy to seat us.
We were up for a graduation a couple of weeks ago and had a recommendation for Domo, which we were very grateful for, because it was excellent. Even on a Tuesday lunchtime it was busy enough to have a bit of a buzz. We shared...a Frito Misto to start, which was generous and contained a good variety, and was well cooked, crispy and not at all greasy. We actually ordered the starter to buy us more time to fully study the menu, because it offers something different from the standard Italian fare. I ended up going for the octopus stew which I just wanted to carry on eating. It was excellent. I had my eye on it anyway, but when I asked the waiter to recommend one dish above all others, that was the one he suggested, which made my mind up. The seafood carbonara and halibut received similar reviews. Driving out of Sheffield the following day, we said that we’d change future travel plans to include a stop off in Sheffield, just to come back. We’ve just booked tickets for a band next year - guess which city we chose to see them? I’m studying the menu already.More
Well… unfortunately the waiter was rude and disengaged with our table, we felt very awkward and on edge during our meal. The food took over 40 minutes to come which created much controversy, as we waited an hour, 10 mins in total. The food was...nice and wine was respectable, overall a pleasant meal.More
A new restaurant to us, sounded interesting and it was. It is in an area that used to be old factories but is now flats and 'urban village' housing, which makes parking a bit difficult. Inside has kept many of the old building's features but...is warm and atmospheric, with plenty of bustle. On a cool Wednesday evening it was nearly full, and booking is definitely advised, especially at the end of the week. We were warmly greeted by Luccia, who looked after us all evening. She brought us two glasses of Prosecco gratis as it was a birthday celebration - a good start. She was also good at explaining the specifically Sardinian dishes and recommended ideal wines to accompany them. We enjoyed everything we ate, though my main of halibut with a very thinly sliced Sardinian proscuito was in a rather spicier sauce than expected. With a starter of bruschetta laden with creamy pecorino and ham there was no way a dessert could be even contemplated. Our meal was quite pricey, but we did choose special dishes, and there are pastas an pizzas as well. The only thing that prevents me giving five stars are the toilets, which need some attention.More
I took a late November drive across the Peak District, via Snakepass, from Manchester to Sheffield to experience Domo in the cities Kelham Island district. I had high expectations, after reading a nice review by Jay Rayner and I was not disappointed. I enjoy dining...solo but sometimes it can be intimidating, especially when a restaurant is rocking and buzzing. The Wednesday night I was at Domo, was one such night, with groups out for office Christmas dinner and a couple of large family groups out for birthdays. I felt at home and was made most welcome by the team. It was like being the solo guy at a nice family party, where everyone makes sure to welcome you into their home. I have never had Sicilian food before, but found the menu reminiscent of Maltese food. I missed family as I sat watching other people with theirs, but the team who looked after me were brilliant and the memories of holiday food with my mum and dad (we loved octopus in Malta) made me feel warm on a bitterly cold night. I highly recommend Domo for somewhere to dine when you find yourself in Sheffield. I enjoyed the following dishes, which were homely and filling, combined with the joy of a family team working a busy service. Bruschette Aritzo Sauteed procini and mixed mushrooms, chestnuts, truffle and a touch of cream (V) Can be made vegan. Polpo di Papa The owners Dad’s special recipe of slow cooked octopus in a rich tomato sauce with chilli, garlic and olives served with crusty bread (GF on request). Cannolo Siciliano Sicilian tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with ricotta cheese and chocolate chip (v).More
The best lunch ever!! Domo has lived up to our expectations from all the great reviews we’ve heard. The service was so friendly and attentive, and the food was incredible! It is the best Italian/Sardinian food we have had outside of Italy. Dario was our...waiter, and he was so lovely, and provided us recommendation for dessert (the torta pistacchio is a must!) and then he kindly finished our visit with a limoncello 😊 so happy to find this gem of a restaurant in Sheffield and will be back very soon to try some more delicious dishes. Grazie mille Domo e Dario!More
Fantastic food in a restaurant with a great family atmosphere. We hadn't booked and they managed to fit the three of us in. Lucia kept my glass topped up.
Lovely ambience, great food and especially attentive service from Dario. Many thanks.... we'll be back! 🙂
A fantastic meal at this excellent restaurant. When we arrived at 5:45pm the restaurant was already bustling and the atmosphere was buzzing. The menu was extensive and the food was well cooked and beautifully presented. A superb Italian restaurant and the staff were helpful, very...professional and worked very hard. Our waiter, Dario, was an absolute star- and he was right when he said that the white wine we chose from his native Sicily would be excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.More
Bright spot on first wintery night. We were early for a 7pm booking but the place quickly filled up and the initial gloominess passed. Great attentive welcome and subsequent service and friendly chat throughout, from our waiterJose and other staff. A few more things and...changes on the actual menu from what was on the web site. Not that we are, but lots of choice for veggies. Lobster bruscheta starter was excellent, inspired me to recreate at home (super luxury "toast topper"). Chicken main dish superb and plenty of it, especially with generous side of saute/roast potatoes. Pasta main with courgette fritters our other order and also excellent. Overdid it with the lovely breads and couldnt finish it all but all our food was packed up to take away with us without having to ask. Wine is good quality tending on IGP/DOC grades, but not quite as steep mark-ups as at most restaurants. We will be back having recently moved to Sheffield. With 4 or 6 people the generous sides/breads etc are more than sufficient to share. Keep your servings generous the food cost doesn't affect your overheads/costs much, too many places are penny pinching.More
Simply wonderful, attentive, genuine staff, so friendly and excellent food and drink. I was in Sheffield on business and didn’t really want to dine on my own but I’d recommend this place wholeheartedly. The olive starter was to die for and the pizza excellent. It...was just one of those fortunate right place right time moments in life. Thanks.More
