Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Second visit to tamper after a stunning first visit. I myself went for the dish that blew my socks off first time round-the beef brisket Benedict and it certainly didn’t disappoint. My partner went for the avocado on toast a favourite of hers and it...was good however the one disappointment with the dish was the chilli and orange marmalade. It (in our opinion) was just too much on the sweet side which detiriorated and overpowered an otherwise perfect dish. The coffee is outstanding, the service brilliant and we will continue to returnMore

What a great find this was. Absolutely lovely atmosphere and location. The food was great - caraway fries were a revelation! Friendly staff and great for watching the world go by. Will be back again when I next visit Sheffield.

We visited for brunch and had a fantastic meal at Tamper. We had the salt beef benedict and the egg florentine and both were absolutely packed with flavour. Portion sizes were generous and we finished our meal feeling very satisfied. We also had a coffee...and a mocha; both of which were very tasty. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere is warm and vibrant. I would highly recommend a visit if staying in Sheffield. Very well located for the city centre and theatres.More

We were warmly welcomed into this quirky cafe, old tables and what looks like school chairs adds to the casual feel. Excellent coffee was quickly served and then I had mince on toast with a poached egg which was superb. (My father used to love...leftover mince on toast for his supper) My wife had the french toast with blueberries coconut flakes and cream which looked stunning and tasted superb. We left very happy.More

Visited Tamper on a Friday mid morning for brunch. The environment looks great but lots of hard surfaces which makes it quite a loud place to be. The staff were friendly but busy so our time there felt a bit rushed. Coffee wasn’t very warm...and one of our party felt the coffee tasted odd, waiting staff then asked a little abruptly and with no apology “what do you think is wrong with it” but it was replaced. I wasn't feeling great so didn’t pick anything too exciting off the menu that day but the toast wasn’t toasted and butter was not spreadable, disappointing for a basic request. The eggs royale was tasty. An average experienceMore

I visited recently with friends and a baby. It was very, very busy and unfortunately we were given a table with no room for a high chair without it being in the way of staff squeezing past with hot food and drinks. I'd made a...request for a high chair on the booking so was a little disappointed with this set up and baby sat on our knees instead of in the high chair. No offer of help getting the pushchair up/down the big step or through the awkward door either which was a shame. The food was excellent though so I would return - just without the baby.More

We visited today with our son and fiancée as they had been in the past, and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the place had a really nice ambience. We will definitely be back.

Close your eyes as you go into Tamper and then open them to find you've been transported across the planet. They have elegantly captured the look and feel of Kiwi coffee culture for you to enjoy in fairly central Sheffield. If you know what to...expect then you can probably skip the rest of this review. For the uninitiated however, you can expect excellent coffee and a truly innovative food menu in a very stylish but laid back cafe format. I would highly recommend the Turkish eggs - the description may sound a little unusual to Western diners but it just works....brilliantly. Whilst it's a novel experience there is some room for improvement. Service, at times, goes beyond laid back and can feel non existent - we had to practically beg to pay, even though the lunchtime rush had subsided and the place really wasn't that busy. Furthermore, the seating and tables are not as comfortable as you might like so sitting around for a long time waiting could feel like a bit of a trial. Overall though, I'd highly recommend Tamper and my visit evoked some welcome nostalgia.More

Had an excellent brunch here, yummy avo on toast with beautiful thick bacon and a pot of tea. Great service and atmosphere. Staff really nice and friendly. You can dine in or take out. Buzzing on a Sunday morning. I just wish I had found...this cafe on my first day in Sheffield. Would 100% recommend.More

It gets very busy and food took a long time to arrive but was delicious when it did. Flat white was not hot though and downed it in one! Seems a young person's place.

Colourful, well presented food, interesting flavour combos and friendly staff. So good we visited two days in a row! Recommend booking ahead on a Sunday morning, but they do have a social table available as well. Also good for a midweek takeaway coffee

Been here twice this month, such an enjoyable breakfast experience. A varied and interesting menu with milk alternatives also. Both breakfasts have been very flavoursome and well presented. Love the decor and relaxed atmosphere, just perfect.
