Good stuff:
lovely food for veggies vegans and meat eaters, polite staff, happy to alter dishes to make them veggie. Food tasty and plenty of it.
Bad stuff:
menu VERY difficult for veggies and vegans to find stuff on, although it is possible.
**** As of JAN 2020 CASH ONLY *** which we were not told until one of our group offered to pay by card!! Luckily we were able to scrape enough together.

I came across the China Red Restaurant in the Moors shopping area by accident and thought it looked good for lunch - even though i was 15 minutes after their 4pm lunch time menu, they were happy to serve me.
Happy to point out food allergies.
Good quality Egg & Seaweed Soup with Ginger Prawns, washed down with a soda for a great price.
Very filling, authentic.
Only issue was they brought out a folk and spoon (i guess being white), but they were happy to bring chopsticks when i asked.
One to remember!

We were staying in Sheffield for the weekend and looking for somewhere to eat early evening on the Saturday. We hadn’t looked at the menu prior to entering but all found something tasty to eat, so much so that we returned the following evening to try more dishes. The portions were huge but we still managed to eat most of it. We started with dumplings and salt and pepper ribs then pork and coriander, chicken and mushroom and shrimp in chilli. Egg fried rice, chicken fried rice and deep fried shredded potato with pepper. The shrimp in chilli was amazing as was the deep fried shredded potato. Service was good and the 11 year old with our group was given some chop sticks to take away so she could practice at home. Don’t go expecting a typical ‘British’ Chinese as you will be disappointed but definitely give it a go. It was delicious and well worth the money.

Worst meal out for ages
Waited 20 mins to order a drink and food ..then a hour before our starters came with a half hearted apology
The reason ......they were too busy with take aways, unbelievable that customers who have taken a 40 min tram ride to visit this place are made to wait while they service take away customers
The food itself we found vile....goodness knows what the small white rubbery grey balls were they passed off as chicken and the duck was mainly fat
Both dishes were extremely oily and salty
However the egg fried rice was good ..small mercies !
Had communication been easier we would have complained however we had gone past it and would have been very difficult anyway
Very unfriendly and miserable staff
We will never go here again

My wife is vegetarian and her options were extremely limited and looked particularly unappetizing. Not much better for the non-vegetarians, large number of dishes comprising pigs intestines! I ordered the beef in black bean sauce which was extremely oily. My wife settled on shredded potato and pepper, which was completely tasteless. Their card reader wasn't working (hmmmm) so can only pay in cash. Bad experience, wouldn't recommend.

Today I was lucky enough to try the hidden gem that is China Red. I often don’t like Chinese cuisine as I find it too oily and greasy but this is just delicious!
The restaurant specialises on authentic Chinese cuisine with a menu that suits the tastebuds of all. The king prawns today were large , juicy and extremely tasty but also were the classic likes of prawn toast and egg fried rice.
The staff were friendly and Kelvin who owns the restaurant really knows his stuff and made brilliant recommendations based of my preferences with meats and seafood and also heat.
I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for delicious, authentic food in a relaxed environment.

One of the best Chinese I’ve had in the UK this is a fabulous authentic Schezuhan restaurant. Yes, there are lots of unusual dishes of bits of animals we wouldn’t usually eat, but there were loads that were more accessible for western tastebuds. Everything was freshly cooked and flavourful and came piping hot. Portions are massive and therefore the restaurant is excellent value. We highly recommend the salt and pepper pork (wonderfully crispy), the green beans with chilli and pork, the duck and winter melon (1st time for us to eat winter melon- the duck was very tender), the sweetcorn and pine nuts (simple dish and a nice contrast to other stronger flavours), and the steamed dumplings.

Me and my family have been regulars at the China Red for a couple years now since the Zing Vaa closed down. The quality of the food is excellent, the staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. The only thing stopping this review from being 5 star is that on a couple occasions we have had the dishes come at different times about 5 minutes apart.

We booked a table for a family birthday. When we got there the was no table ready for us so staff tried to sit 6 of us on a table for 4 right by the draughty door. When we requested a better table we were seated right at the back of the restaurant on an un set table, next to a dirty storage area and a massive freezer! Someone came to put plates and cutlery on the table after about 10 mins. After 30 minutes had past we got sick of waiting for someone to actually serve us and even ask if we wanted to order drinks. We all walked out. The staff were so unobservant and indifferent to us that they didn't even notice the 6 of us walking out! Will never go there again. We went to Wong Ting around the corner and the service was brilliant.

Everyone around us seemed to really be enjoying their food. Me and my friends all ordered very different dishes and they all had the same weird horrid fatty flavour to them. The pork was fatty and chewy, and my vegetarian friend ordered shredded potato and I don't understand how it tasted the same as my pork dish. We were distraught to have to pay for such bad food.

A really good Sichuan restaurant. As good as I’ve had. Not really a place for sweet and sour chicken, they excel at traditional regional cooking. We had a very generous poached fish in chilli oil, diced chicken with dried chillies and some vegetable sides. A starter of spicy ox tripe was great.

We love Chinese food but are always deflated with the Chinese-English types of food because we know it is not authentic and it is to cater to the English perception of Chinese food.
We have travelled the length of the UK, including China and honestly, the food here is better than anything we have tried AND, it is consistently excellent.
Dependent on how truly adventerous you are there are a variety of dishes from the ones you usually find e.g. sweet and sour chicken to the more Szechaun based dishes (hot pot).
More often than not the food is spicy but there are equally tasty options.
We travel from out of area to come to this Chinese, it is simply the best (and not by a little) we have ever had.

We ordered a takeaway with crispy shredded beef and a whole duck. When it arrived the duck was in battered packaging and was more bone than duck and completely inedible. The crispy beef was not crispy but soft and the whole meal was Luke warm and not hot. I called to complain but the person on the other end was completely disinterested and would not let me get a word in edgeways. All they would say was we needed to complain to Uber eats and not them. To me this is completely out of order they cooked and supplied it but won’t take any responsibility for what they have sent out. For the extortionate prices they have charged they should be ashamed to send out food of such poor quality. The worst takeaway food I have ever had. What ever you do never order from this company as you will be ripped off and they won’t take any responsibility for anything. Completely ruined our New Years Eve.

We ate from China red’s small eatery at the cutlery works last night. Unfortunately despite the place only being half full, it took an hour to receive my food. I ordered the salt/chilly squid which was mildly flavoured, but very dry and rubbery, then unfortunately I had the sea bass, what a mistake. It was a plate of salt! I could only manage half of one fillet as my mouth couldn’t cope with the taste of salt, and I’m still feeling the effects of it now! Definitely won’t be eating food from there again. On the other hand though, cutlery works was fabulous!

We had a reservation. We arrived on time. The restaurant was half empty and we were told that our table was not ready and we would only have one hour before our table would be needed for another party so we were asked to choose our meal from the menu while we waited for our table to be ready. We were polite and left. We travelled over 70 miles and booked a hotel just for this dinner and we were excited to eat here. Sadly, we never got the chance and we never will. I can say that ChinaTown Restaurant was very welcoming, friendly and excellent food and value.
