Have been on quite a few separate occasions. Not once been disappointed and have now worked way through a fair bit of the menu (looking forward to the rest of it). The balance of food quality, attentive service and overall “vibe” of the place is...difficult to compare against similar establishments. It’s a cut above in my opinion. If in the area just go. They will bust a gut to fit you in and it’s a VERY busy place. Which I guess tells its own story. Message to owners - You have a winning formula. Please don’t ever lose sight of what you have by cutting corners in a way so many other establishments have, to their detriment ! Keep it up 😀👍.More

Brilliant to see a Pub trying so hard and packed to the rafters. Food, Service and Atmosphere absolutely outstanding! Even came around with Santa’s sack with a little present 🎁 for the kids. And they had Bradfield Breweries ‘Belgian Blue ‘ 🍺 💯 Recommend 👊🏻👍

Have eaten here quite a few times and the food and service have always been excellent. Today was a last minute booking but the staff were able to accommodate us in the main restaurant. We ate off the festive menu; delicious sea bass and brie...starters followed by lasagne snd seafood pasta. The seafood pasta was the best I’ve had anywhere with a most generous amount of prawns and mussels. Will definitely be returning soon in the New Year even if we hadn’t been given vouchers.More

First time visit for dinner yesterday. We ate from the "Specials" menu - lamb rack and mussels, followed by creme brulee. Need to be a little more heedful of what people are actually ordering and ensure that tables are properly cleaned and dropped serviettes, etc...collected before next seating. Otherwise very good and would return if in the area.More

The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were efficient. Some of the food was good like the large fish & chips but some was pretty average - my husband and I had burgers and the meat was quite a strange almost rubbery texture which wasn’t...particularly enjoyable. Diet Coke at over £3 a glass is extortionate in my opinion.More

Last night was our first visit to this lovely pub and it won't be our last. The service was great, staff very friendly and the Sunday Dinner was one of the best l have ever had. Top marks to the chef.

They've done a great job with some outdoor decking, strength with pretty ship-like lighting and heaters above. The tents were also a great effort and the ambience was fantastic out there last night, on a busy Saturday early evening under the stars. The menu was...exciting, I tried the vegan Kimishu with slices of tempura aubergine which was well presented and delicious (even though I'm a meat eater), tmy OH had the Ribs and Mac and my son had the Italiano flatbread. All 3 dishes were fantastic to look at and taste. The service was brilliant, but we didn't half feel sorry for the poor staff having to dash about with great big masks on, even outside. It must be awful for them and made us feel uncomfortable, as it's so unfair.More

We booked a table for 5 for my mums birthday and requested a table near the kitchen. When we arrived we were shown in to the taproom. I mentioned that we had requested a table near the kitchen to be told they were taken as...it was busy. I didn’t make a fuss as previously mentioned it was my mums birthday. The room had a roaring fire which was uncomfortably hot to sit and relax in. We ordered food and the starters arrived and were a bit mixed some plates were good and some average. Then a couple came in with a dog, my partner has asthma and is allergic to most breeds of dog. I questioned the waiter to be told dogs were allowed in the taproom. GREAT! Our main courses arrived, these were brought out in intervals of 5 minutes which left some food going cold. Once all the food had arrived we then had to go and ask for cutlery and condiments. Again the food was mixed my lasagne was very stodgy lots of pasta but not much filling, however my partner had the lamb shepherds pie and he thought this was ok. My poor mum couldn’t eat her chips in her words they were little bits of crunchy potato - just scraps. My son fared the worst he had mac and ribs, there was a plateful of ribs all were dry with barely any meat. I really wanted to complain but my mum looked so crestfallen I couldn’t do it in-front of her. It was our third visit to the Castle since August we really thought we’d found a fab place to eat out close to home, we won’t be returning.More

Quick service, great portions, food is excellent. We had not booked, but staff were very kind and able to accommodate. Explained meals very well and were considerate of allergies. Very polite and charming staff. The chef came from the kitchen to ask how the meal...was, a very nice touch. Will be back +++More
