Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely outstanding food! Fabulous service! Superb views and cosy vibrant ambience! We enjoyed our family lunch with this first experience at CSONS in Ludlow and are planning to drive the 2+ hours again as soon as possible to return. The best food we have eaten...in years - full of amazing fresh flavours. We were a party of 5 and all selected different dishes, all of which left us in awe of the kitchen. We even chatted to our next door table and all remarked on how delicious the food was. Really hoping they keep doing exactly what they are doing so we can keep returning!More

A lovely setting by the river; very pleasant staff, and lots of good looking food options (we only went for drinks). Needed a break after doing the hill one side of the river and about to climb up to the castle and market square.

We went for lunch today for the second time and it was fabulous. Tasty and delicious food and so good to be able to choose large or small portions. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the chef is amazing. We will definitely be...back soon.More

We wanted an intimate wedding venue reception which was less traditional with high quality food in picturesque surroundings. CSONs went out of their way to accommodate us. From the first meet they turned our dreams into reality, not just with fantastic food and service but...also going out of their way to cater for children and mature adults who needed special dietary requirements. Their menu advice and guidance was invaluable. They decorated the room and made it into a magical setting that we and all our guests will long remember. A special thank you not just to the wonderful Emma and Reuben but the whole team!! Love Barbara and DerekMore

How lovely to find somewhere that puts real thought into their vegetarians options and their children’s options. The food was just perfect, and the waitress who served us was really nice and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning.

First time at CSONS Ludlow, I can't believe we haven't been before. Lovely spot by the wier, lots of choice on the menu with some interesting dishes. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices. Food was delicious and service was quick and friendly. We'll be back.

Popped down for a breakfast and got a table outside by the river. Lovely place for a bite to eat. The breakfast menu was very diverse with some intersting choices. Had the full breakfast which had locally sourced produce with some nice homemade additions which...were really nice. Well worth seeking out.More

Stopped here for breakfast while visiting Ludlow and was not disappointed. A beautiful location looking over the river, we sat at the outside seating area to enjoy the view. We had the full csons breakfast and the Scandinavian which were both delicious along with a...perfect cup of tea and a latte. The staff were welcoming and friendly and would recommend a visit if your in the area.More

We were looking for somewhere relatively "safe" for our dogs to have a paddle and a swim. We'd parked at The Linney and CSONS was only about a 5 minute walk back up the road. The sun was shining and we couldn't have picked a...better location as the cafe overlooks the River and the Weir. We let the dogs have a play in the shallow water first in order for our youngest to burn off a bit of energy but she was still very vocal (she's only a year old and a 'rescue'). We were seated and given menus and the food came out quickly too. My husband had a double burger and I had the smaller plate Scandi style Smoked Salmon with a side of Roast Potatoes with Aioli. We both also had a local cider each as we like to try locally produced food and drink whilst away and on holiday. The food was delicious and yes, it is dearer than a 'standard cafe' but you do get something different and with an interesting mix of flavours. I could have quite easily eaten what I'd had again! The female member of staff was very friendly and welcoming and never made a fuss when our hyper youngest dog jumped at the empty table next to us knocking a small glass pot of salt off. She was more concerned with picking any bits of glass up so that our dog didn't cut her paws. Thank you for your care and consideration and apologies for the accident. I'd definitely recommend this place, not only for the excellent food and service, but also for the beautiful riverside location, where you can also go wild swimming if you fancy it!More

Not only is this café situated in a beautiful place by the river, the food is top notch! We visited one day and had a mushroom brioche (sounds simple but it was delicious!), then the next morning for breakfast. Again, outstanding food - my husband...says “the best bacon I’ve ever had”. Their homemade beetroot ketchup is also outstanding! Don’t hesitate to eat here….in fact, make a beeline for it.More

One of our hosts had recommended Csons and so we went to give it a try. On arrival there were no staff around so we sat at the outside section near to the main door. After a few mins. staff could see that we were...sat and waiting to be greeted / served but we received no service at all. I went into the inside of the building and grabbed two paper menus from an empty table. It was at this point a staff member approached me and politely informed me that there was no hot food available and also a few more cold items were also off the menu. Looking at the remaining choice on the menu there was nothing at all that appealed and so we then pondered the idea of just having a drink of some kind at this establishment. With the generally poor service (although the good reviews on Tripadvisor suggests this was a one off) we received we chose to make our way to somewhere else instead. Nice views although there were a lot of screaming children there too which was a shame but that can happen anywhere nowadays.More

We called in on the off chance for breakfast. It was fairly busy, and they asked if we had booked but then gave us the offer of 3 tables. Our table wobbled, and we fixed it with a tissue. It's a small place inside and...although the tables are close together they are arranged well. The tea would have been nice if it was served with extra hot water, I should have asked, but the staff seemed very busy, and as we hadn't booked... I felt uneasy about doing so. It was weird but afterwards my hubby said the same that although the staff said all the right things and looked after us well it felt like they were going through the motions rather that it being sincere. The hot chocolate was lovely. My hubby had the full breakfast, and I went for poached eggs on toast with some sides. I wasn't asked and should have requested how I wanted my eggs to be cooked. They came cooked through with hard centres and were a little tasteless with a taint of vinegar. There was no butter on my toast. The bread used was lovely. The kale was very chewy, the tomatoes and mushroom were very lovely. My hubby enjoyed his full English but would have liked 2 slices of toast with it instead of 1. The bacon, sausage, and chorizo patty were cooked well. The setting by the river is beautiful. The loo was clean.More

We have visited Ludlow several times over the last few years and have been fortunate enough to eat at some wonderful restaurants in and around the area. Although we were aware of CSONS, we've always given it the swerve because of its outside appearance... What...an error of judgement that was!!! The menu was inspiring and the team at CSONS are clearly passionate about their food; flavour, presentation and provenence. What we really liked was the absence of a starter course. Instead, CSONS offers both small and large plates of their main menu allowing customers the opportunity to dip their toe in the water if unsure about a particular dish. Alongside all this there's a solid burger menu, a generous selection of snacks & sides and a pudding menu that made me want to order the lot and go sit in a dark corner with a big spoon! So much of the menu is locally-sourced produce which absolutely delights me. Obviously this will make the offering slightly more expensive, but the quality of the food really does speak for itself. To top it off, the staff were amazing. Very amiable , super-attentive without being annoying and dog-friendly (although please check as I'm not sure they are allowed in all areas of the restaurant). CSONS is definitely top of our list the next time we're in Ludlow. Bravo!More

Friends of mine that live locally brought me here for a lunch time treat and it was delightful. An enticingly interesting menu where the dishes are served as mains or tapas. We went for the tapas and every mouthful was a festival of flavour! The...staff were friendly & knowledgable and the location is beautiful. Would love to visit again!More
