Wonderful lunch yesterday for our 25th wedding anniversary. The food is amazing, we have been a few times now and it’s always delicious . Do make sure you book though as always busy.

I had heard good reviews about this place and what good value their lunch special is, but I have never got round to trying it - went to try it today and realised I had been missing out! Pasta of the day, side salad, bruschetta...and a drink.. all for £8.50! It was all so tasty and the service was good. The place is small and I saw people getting turned away. It is an old building so it is dark but it suits the atmosphere of a little Italian restaurant. I would love to go back to try their evening meals and will definitely be back for lunch.More

Visited twice while on holiday after having a delicious meal on a previous occasion. The food then was delicious and it still is, the whole package of having a meal at the La Lanterna is brilliant. The location in a vestry, the atmosphere, the generous...portions, quality of the food, staff are fabulous.More

As usual the food, all four main courses and two puddings, were wonderful. Service is very good. Wine was lovely. Everything is very obviously homemade and fresh. Both the prices and the food are better than any of the big franchised Italian restaurants in town....I will continue to recommend La Lanterna to everyone I know.More

We booked La Lanterna a considerable time ago as it was my birthday and we were staying in Shrewsbury. We never come to Shrewsbury without visiting this fabulous restaurant, it’s quite small and quirky and you seem spot different each time you visit. We’ve been...many times but we’ve never seen it as busy as it was last Friday. When we walked through the door there was another couple queuing in front of us and we questioned ourselves as to whether we had actually booked!!! They just couldn’t turn the tables around fast enough but my goodness was it worth the few minutes wait while they cleared our table. The food was as usual absolutely superb and excellent service. The staff at La Lanterna work so hard to make sure everything is spot on. Can’t wait for our next visit.More

This is a wonderful little gem of a restaurant that serves great Italian food in a very unpretentious manner. The interior is quirky with classic style pictures and memorabilia. My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic lunch the portions sizes were excellent and the staff...were cheerful and attentive but not overtly so. I would recommended that you book as the place is always full of happy dinners which surely, is the best recommendation you can get.More

Entry is down a few steps but they are easy. I’m not very agile but I can manage ok. Once inside it’s flat and easy to access whole restaurant.

Mmm wasn’t convinced the one waiter was following the rules as in he was wearing (the same?) gloves. Tables were distanced though
