A great Sunday lunch at the Red Lion today. Good choice Randall dishes were excellent. Food is home cooked and delicious. Good beers and wine to accompany the grub. Staff friendly and helpful.
We had a great meal this evening. Staff were friendly and welcoming and food excellent. Good value for money
We were very disappointed to find this pub was not dog friendly. There is a sign on the door of the pub saying No Dogs allowed…such a shame
Fantastic meal for my dads birthday lady behind bar very helpful and was quick to tell us there would be a short wait for our food , but once food arrived it was well worth the wait , Highly recommend this pub we for sure...will return very soon ….More
Would like to thank the team for a lovely meal. The staff where so helpful and polite. They came and asked if everything was OK a couple of times. We both had starters, steaked and syrup sponge and ice cream for desert. Will be going back...Thanks again for a lovely meal.More
This is a good pub with great food and drinks, excellent staff. We enjoyed two different very tasty burgers.
The Red Lion changed hands a couple of years ago and we hadn't met the new owners until last Sunday. We went for lunch with another couple. It was great to have a pint in a pub again - very well kept beer too. We...all enjoyed our lunch and the licensees were very friendly and efficient. We enjoyed it so much that we returned yesterday with a different couple. Same experience. On both occasions we ate inside - very well spaced out tables and lots of fresh air circulating. We could have eaten in the garden either in a marquee or outside it. I like this pub a lot - especially so as we had our wedding reception buffet there and have fond memories of the day.More
I’m pleased to say that this pub is our local and it’s always been great. We visit frequently and the meals are always delicious with a good selection of drinks. Excellent value for money also with a wonderful atmosphere. Can’t recommend enough!
My husband and I went here for dinner during our stay in the area after noticing it as we drove past and had a lovely meal. The lady serving was lovely and menu had good choice including vegan chilli, curry or a pasta dish for...me. Pub had a real country old world feel about it and nice garden to sit in too. Plenty of parking. Prices very reasonable and service brilliant, this is another pub that we would definately return to if in the area and would have no hesitation recommending that you try it.More
Meet up with some friends here and food was amazing will definitely returning the manager Sarah couldn’t do more to accommodate us as.
First of all my wife and I have visited The Red Lion at Longden Common on a number of previous occasions. Following a conversations with our dining colleagues we were informed that The Red Lion at Longden Common had been renovated and opened with a...new chef in residence. Enquiries revealed that his name was Sam Hill and he had previously been employed at a large private residential establishment in Shropshire. On Sunday 5 May 2019, having made a Sunday Dinner reservation over the telephone we arrived at The Red Lion at Longden Common at 1300 hours in company with our friends. We were shown to our table in the conservatory (great views of the surrounding countryside - a true rural setting). The waiting staff (Becky) was very attentive, polite and took our drinks and meal orders. The drinks arrived and shortly afterwards our starters arrived, we had ordered garlic mushrooms. The sauce was amazing and the mushrooms cooked to perfection with just a hint of garlic. (The alternative starter was cauliflower soup which looked delicious). We all ordered Roast Beef and Yorkshire Puddings off the menu. The mains arrived about 15 minutes after we had demolished the starters and we all agreed that the timing was perfect. I had four large slices of roast beef cooked to perfection, roast potatoes (lovely and brown but not crisp or soggy - perfect), boiled potatoes, leeks in a cheese sauce, mange-tout, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots and peas + a dish of suede & potato mashed. Two boats of gravy which was very tasty and of perfect texture. The waitresses were very attentive and at the conclusion we had a short rest. Becky brought the desert menu about 15 minutes later and we apologised to Becky but we all agreed that we had eaten sufficient food of an excellent quality that we couldn't possibly digest any more. However our male friend decided that he would have the steamed sponge pudding, which he said was very good. Coffees were offered by Becky, but we declined. We continued to confer in the restaurant for a further twenty minutes. There was no pressure for us to vacate the restaurant and we left at 1420 hours completely sated!! We paid the bill which for four persons was less than £14.00 per person. I was so impressed that I personally thanked the chef Mr Sam Hill for such an excellent Sunday dinner. We will certainly visit this establishment again.More
Whenever we shop in Shrewsbury we always visit the Red Lion for a meal. We have never been disappointed! The sizzler steaks are really good - cooked exactly as we wished and served with a smile.
3 of has lunch here today, fairly quiet. We ordered 2 burgers and 1 sausage and chips with a side salad. We thought they would be "light bites". The burgers proved more than enough for the two ladies, tons of chips, nice salad, great burgers...with bacon, cheese and so on! The sausages were OK, not brilliant, but tons of well cooked chips and the side salad was the best I have ever eaten with a standard pub lunch, cold, crispy, several types of lettuce, green peppers, cucumbers, pea shoots and all so fresh and the salad was just £2!!!!! Service was a bit slow, but everything was cooked fresh for us and well worth the wait. We will visit again, it's great quality for pub food and very reasonably priced. Small menu, basic pub food, but all cooked from fresh. I'll be back to try their fish and chips. A good experience, very pleasant owners who have been in for less than a year, I'll support them!More
Our second meal here. Simple pub menu but well done, freshly cooked to order. Nothing fancy but just good pub grub in a friendly country pub setting . All staff very friendly & accommodating.
