We took a trip out to this country pub that we used to visit regularly in our teens nearly 50 years ago whilst we were taking a break in Bath. Whilst they were heavily booked they managed to fit us in early evening. We arrived...More

The previous reviewer Trish Roath says it all, and perfectly. It was our first visit too, and even the owner's spaniel was delightfully friendly and well behaved. On a sunny day it'd be complete bliss.

Amazing location, peaceful, lovely views and a great fireplace. My wife and I visited for a rare night out without the kids. The welcome was friendly and I was directed to the appropriate wine quickly and successfully. The place looked, however, as if it was...More

A lovely pub with beautiful grounds. We ate inside and had a traditional Sunday lunch of pork with all the trimmings. Beautifully cooked and presented. Will certainly be back.

The Wheatsheaf is a well positioned pub, with many of the components needed to compete in the country gastro pub market - but oh my, how it fails to deliver on the promises it suggests it will make. The decor is firmly country-Sloane; collections of...More
