We had the pleasure of dining at Mantra Progressive in Bath! They are all about providing you with a delicious meal that is not rushed. The owner greeted and seated us and was very particular in the way he served us one course at a...time and wanted us to enjoy every morsel and flavor of food from the Northern region of India. He helped us select the items off of the menu and each bite was amazing!! Very reasonably priced. We had the cod appetizer and potato dosas and they were light and flavorful. We then ordered an assortment of vegetarian dishes and one chicken special in a delicious sweet curry sauce. The chicken pairs well with the spinach saag paneer with garlic naan to soak up the sauces! The black lentil dish was delicious as was the eggplant that he insisted we order. It was delightful with just the right portion amounts so that we left satiated but not overstuffed! A must if you are looking for a restaurant in Bath!! And don’t forget the Espresso martini for dessert!!More

Great food, curries had great flavour and the vegetable platter to start was very tasty and beautifully presented. Service was excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable about the food providing advice on what to have. Will definitely be back.
Hydrabadi chicken biryanani was so delicious and amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for nice Indian meal.
Not going to say the food was rubbish because it was very tasty and full of flavour, but if a limited menu! The service on the other hand is organised chaos, I booked a table 2 weeks before going and when we arrived they didn’t...have a table for us so waited around for that, people running around like headless chickens very strange Indian restaurant !More

We ordered food online. Waited an hour and a half for food and rang up and were assured it was on the way. We waited another half an hour and rang again. We were then told all the deliveries had been completed, they then realised...they had missed our order. They were very hard to communicate with on the phone and were very dismissive. We were told they would still deliver the food and provide a full refund. We eventually received the food. No refund had been made and it’s been a month since our order, extremely disappointed as we were assured we would 100% be fully refunded. Will not be ordering again and would avoid their delivery service.More

Mantra is quiet honestly the best Indian restaurant in Bath. We've been going there literally since it opened 6 years ago. In the early days, the food was very edgy with some exciting regional cuisine that added a new dimension to standard Indian offerings in...Bath; presented in a fresh and delightful way. It still does. Dine in, do, its a wonderful place. During lockdown, Mantra very successfully pivoted to expand their menu and position themselves to offer broader choices for the "dine at home" market whilst keeping staple treasures like their glorious Hyderabadi Chicken. And more people learnt, this is not just take-away, its high end restaurant food at takeaway prices delivered to your door. Dine in, you get fabulous presentation, lovely, willing and attentive staff and a great terrace in the summer. At home, the quality surpasses all the competition but the price is the same....who else does Gingery Spiced Lamb Chops or that stunning Methi Murg? No-one, that's who! We order (probably a little too regularly!) through Deliveroo (always quick, always). Then last weekend we picked Uber Eats (having been told they are even more efficient). WRONG. Massive delay. Nothing to do with Mantra at all, all to do with driver shortages, platform pressure and one driver's decision to come to us last. I have learnt through MY errors. Mantra = Deliveroo or just go and pick it up and save myself 10%. After our one glitch last week, it was Mantra and Prasad (their gentleman of an owner) that stepped in to rectify Uber Eats' mistakes and take very seriously the complete satisfaction of every customer. The way to judge great service is what happens when things go wrong - how fast can and do they put it right? Mantra absolutely ace this. So my review is to acknowledge that and say thank you. The food does, has and always will speak for itself. (Please try those lamp chops....seriously.....just try them!).More

Absolutely awful. Restaurant trying to do too much. Takeaway and sit down. Satisfying no one. Service too slow, confused orders. Food was actually quite good when we got it it but we’d actually disengaged by then and were actually enjoying our own company. Not a...place to go twice!More

Very disappointed. Was looking forward to a good Indian meal but had not fully appreciated the distinctive 'experimental' style of the food. The best things: the pappadoms (light and fluffy) and the staff. I had a king prawn biryani which is what I would normally...have; in other restaurants it usually comes with a vegetable curry sauce, but not this time. The prawns in the rice were in some sort of pale cream sauce at the bottom, which was slightly spicy, but overall the dish was dry notwithstanding the raita (cold) served with it. Not my cup of tea. My husband had a madras which he declared as unlike any madras he has ever had before. I was also a bit surprised to be charged £9.95 for a mushroom bhaji (shown as large on the bill) when I hadn't been offered a choice of large/small and I was the only one eating it. I also did not like it much. If you have a hearty appetite, then the samosa starters (two large ones) or the onion bhajis (three large ones) will satisfy you. I couldn't eat two samosas: one would normally be almost enough for a whole meal for me. The restaurant could easily cut down the portion sizes of its starters and charge slightly less. (It is not a cheap restaurant). Overall this was a disappointing start to our trip to Bath. We would not return (a) because of the price and (b) the food is not up our street.More
