Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stumbled across this place and very glad I did. Food was excellent. The prawns were really good, as was all the food we ordered. Very friendly place. Was guided around the menu, which was very helpful. Will definitely be going back.

Superb hakka food and service that with a few tweaks to the restaurant itself could be 5 stars! We all loved the food but the restaurant was too bright, and the toilets have seen better days, but the food was insanely good! They even offered...us a Chefs Special to try for free, which was so good that we ordered more! The only disappointment were the Messy Fries which were much drier than expected, maybe we were given the wrong dish there. We were expecting something more akin to Hakka classic, Kung Pao Potato which hopefully they will add to the menu in future, along with my other Hakka favourite, Tai Pai Chicken or Paneer. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy something different from a standard Indian. They could even lose the odd Thai and Japanese dish on the menu which felt like fillets to try and get people through the door, when often having a mixed culture menu can often have the opposite effect. The Hakka is the main event, so Maaya should just lean in more on that. Hope they are a Bath fixture for a long time!More

Had a deeply unpleasant stench. Menus a bit dirty and windows filthy. Toilets appeared not to have been cleaned in weeks. Should have left... but we soldiered on.... been on the bog all morning. AVOID.

Orders a takeaway which took 2 hours to deliver despite being advised 40 minutes. Restaurant told me the food was on its way each time I called. In the end they blocked my number. 2 hours later is showed up. Substandard food at best I...contacted the restaurant to complain the following day and received nothing.More

Went there with friends recently. Food was really good. Service initially slow. We must have been waiting for 15 minutes before our orders were taken. Wasn't too bad as we chatted. After that food and drinks came quickly. And aa stated food was delicious Marking...it as average aa accessibility for a disabled person wasn’t good. Toilets down stairs into a cellar. Will come back though as food was goodMore

Warm and friendly welcome by the owners son/manager. Gave good recommendations on what to eat but also where to visit in Bath. Recommended the cauliflower and it was the best cauliflower dish we have ever eaten!! If we lived in Bath we would be regulars!

The only reason for the 4 is because we were a bit sceptical when we first arrived. It all seemed a bit slow and we weren’t sure whether to go up or wait. But then everything kicked in and we had a great night. We...had popadoms with some really tasty dips and the Katsu and mango salad to start. The tamarind dip was particularly good and we really enjoyed the katsu salad. Then we had 3 fish tapas, squid, prawns and fried fish. All were really good but the prawns were the best. We also had 3 meat tapas, chicken wings, Manchurian chicken and crispy lamb. Again all were excellent. We also had madras fries, cauliflower and garlic naan. Probably slightly overdid it for three people but honestly enjoyed every single dish. We will definitely be going back.More

Passed a lovely cold, rainy evening at Maaya, where I was the only diner for most of the time. Enough time has passed where I don’t remember much of the food specifics, though the Indian chips were amazing. The owner was lovely, happily chatting away...with me in between fits of work. I promised a good review — sorry it’s taken so long. I would recommend highly!More

Very disappointed with rather unkempt feel about this eatery. The table was not properly clean on arrival, although reserved. Drinks poorly presented, not anywhere like as attractive as photography suggested. Food varied greatly. Two of our chosen dishes were delicious, but the others were ‘soggy’...and appeared not freshly prepared. Overall very disappointed.More

Really tasty food that is different to what you get elsewhere in bath. Cocktail offers (2 for £12) very reasonable. Friendly waiter, family business. A hidden gem!More

Stopped off here, by chance, while having an evening walk around Bath. A small unassuming restaurant, not particularly eye catching but the food is absolutely delicious. Cannot fault the service and the young gentleman serving was polite and friendly. Portions are very generous. We had...four between us, but to be honest three would suffice. Obviously cooked freshly, as dishes arrived at different times. As you would expect for a tapas. The spicy squid had to be the best squid I have had and the papadi chat was delicious. If you are in the neighbourhood, give it a go. You won’t be disappointed!More
