The perfect little pub packed with great people and excellent food! Lou cooks the best fish and chips I've ever had all from fresh ingredients - nothing frozen. She cooks traditional English pub faire better than any. A real chef. Paul behind the bar is...More

It only took one pint at this pub to feel like we have lived here for years. The food is amazing, all local and natural ingredients, prepared and obsessed over by Lou, the pub's wonderful chef. Her 6 hour bangers and mash sauce is a...More

Just stopped for a thirst quencher on the way around. Not too happy as barman was a little confused over order of large glass of house red, which was bitter to the palet . Maybe we choose the wrong time to visit.

Visited at lunch while on a tour through town. Cozy pub. Local brews available. The best fish and chips I had anywhere - not overly breaded, hot when served and great chips. Enjoyed immensely and would return if I make it back again. Well done!

We stopped at The Ale House for lunch. We had the fish and chips, and sausage and mash potatoes. Both were very good. I’m not a connoisseur of fish and chips, but this was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The fried batter...More

As a Billy no mates I was looking for somewhere to watch the Six Nations on my own. Great, quick service - many others in similar situation and chatted freely to bar staff and punters. All out for fun without being rowdy. I'd definitely go...More

Central location, good selection of beers and friendly likeable staff. Didn't have any food but what I saw looked good. Nice atmosphere in bar and on certain nights they have a magic show upstairs and a magic bar in basement that are good fun.
