Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food was excellent - crab, soup, risotto and sea bass all beautifully cooked and presented. Staff were lovely - attentive and accommodating. Would definitely return next time we’re in Bath.

A Sunday roast that whilst tasty and well presented did not offer anything to justify the prices. The service was personable and prompt.

A return visit for me after 2 years that didn’t disappoint. I was lunching with a friend who hadn’t been there before but will be going again. Despite a hiccup with delayed trains - the restaurant kindly held the table for an extra half hour...after a frantic phone call from me. Lovely lunch from the set menu - smoked salmon, a nice piece of bream & then a rhubarb pannacotta dessert- all very tasty, nicely presented & excellent service. There was no sense of being hurried, all very relaxed. Will definitely be returning again sooner than 2 years when next in Bath.More

I would go as far as to say that it was the best food I had in England. The dishes are fresh, tasty and well presented. You can tell that chef has Michelin star. I gave my table location preferences with the reservation and it...was honoured to the detail. Service is attentive but nit intrusive and they are genuinely happy to see you there.More

Me and my partner visited Clayton's on a Saturday night. We hadn't booked anything and were struggling to find a place to eat !! A passer by mentioned Clayton's to us. So we ventured over not expecting them to have a space ! But they...did ! Downstairs had a lovely atmostphere. Perfect for couples looking for a romantic place to eat. Staff were really friendly and inviting. The menue is rather pricey. We ordered the lamb rump from the specials menu which was £38 each. BUT it was AMAZING, and well worth the money !! Meat was incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and even the carrots were delicious ! I would absolutely reccommend visiting this place. One slight annoyance was the addition of water added onto the bill - only £4.50 but we were not asked in advance and the waiter filled our glasses before we even had a chance to realise. Wine was also not the best and paid £11 each for a glass which I thought was quite a lot. Although this might be average for the area.More

Excellent venue, in the heart of Bath, with tasteful calm decor. Small but the table still gave a private experience. The service was personal and very efficient, and the whole experience was relaxed and nicely informal. The food is excellent. Prices of food and wine...are as you would expect for a high quality restaurant. The food is very good… and the portions are far more generous than many restaurants of this style and standard. Crispy goats cheese starter with tomato and sliced Apple chutney, candied walnuts and basil oil was the best opening dish I’ve had for a while. All courses were very tasty and we left full and satisfied. Highly recommended.More

We are both vegan, and it can be hard to find restaurants that produce good vegan dishes. The dishes we had at Clayton’s Kitchen were well thought-out, delicious, and beautifully prepared. We loved it here, and will definitely be back. Whilst it may be a...little more expensive than some other eateries nearby, the quality and experience are worth it. The surroundings are relaxing and I loved the design of the place.More

What a great place: a real feel good restaurant. The £35 3 course lunch menu is good value, with an excellent choice of terrific dishes. Probably the best Sea Bass I had all year. Desserts were fabulous and served in generous portions. Great service, lovely...atmosphere. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.More

Clayton’s Kitchen is the best restaurant in Bath. Every single time I go, I love the food! The menu is small, but everything is exceptional. My partner and I came for my birthday and we loved every single dish. The flavours were amazing, the service...was excellent and the atmosphere is lovely. Staff are really friendly and although food is pricey it is absolutely worth every penny. My partner has already chosen to go there for his birthday in June.More

Visiting Bath, went here for dinner having read the reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. Best meal I've had in a long time. Each course was delicious. My crab starter and duck main was cooked to perfection. My wife's fish equally so. Drinks fairly...priced and the staff very welcoming. Would recommend to anyone. The true test of a restaurant is when you sit back at the end and say well, that was great I really enjoyed it. - and we did! When next in Bath will go again.More

We were in Bath for a special break, so were looking for a special restaurant and we found it in Clayton's. Wonderful service and we loved how the restaurant was divided into 4 distinct areas. We were by the bar downstairs which was beautiful with...a great atmosphere. Food was outstanding and I particularly appreciated having being able to have a vegetarian starter as a main instead of ghe obligatory risotto. Highly recommended.More
