We visited the Boatman for Sunday lunch after a day at the Bath Christmas markets. It offered us the perfect atmosphere to relax and warm up. It is clearly very popular, but didn’t feel over crowded or rowdy. Our meals were generous and the menu...offered a good selection of roast meats, starters and puds, especially for the price. Super service and a homely atmosphere away from the hubbub of the city centre.More
Due to mistake where we thought we had booked here and hadn’t, we found ourselves calling on a Thursday evening trying to book for the next day. Clearly meant to be because they had their last table available for our party of seven. We had...a lovely evening celebrating a reunion of friends and our daughters birthday. The Christmas atmosphere in the restaurant was fab and the whole place joined our rendition of Happy Birthday. Food was excellent, service a delight and great value after a day at the Bath Christmas markets. And it has parking!More
We came here for my wife’s birthday on the 1st and we’re promptly greeted by the loveliest staff you’d ever meet! Talked with the owner as she sat us down, had a lovely conversation followed by a delicious lunch meal!
We had the most amazing meal tonight. Rosy was so welcoming and looked after us. The turkey was delicious and the vegetables were super scrumptious. The Christmas pudding was the best I have ever tasted. Superb. The waitresses were wonderful too.

What a revelation. For some unexplainable reason, we hadn't been back for some time, and what a pleasant experience, totally unpretentious and the food was of the highest quality, delicious, fairly priced with fabulously relaxed service.
We came for Sunday roast and it was delicious! We went for the three course meal; each was incredible and the perfect portions to leave us full. Service was attentive and the place has a lovely atmosphere and views too! Thank you guys :)
We always come for Sunday lunch when dropping our son back to University. Food always gorgeous. Such a lovely team of staff. Beautiful venue, we love to sit outside on the balcony, nice ambiance ❤️
My daughter suggested meeting for lunch and chose the boatman because although it’s near Bath City centre it has great parking facilities. Neither of us had been before, but it turned out to be an excellent choice. We were warmly greeted and providing a high...chair for my granddaughter was no problem. The setting next to the river is lovely and most importantly the food was excellent and approaching Michelin star standard in my opinion. The lunch menu offered a number of choices for starters, main and dessert courses which at £30, bearing in mind the quality of the food is extremely good value. We both had calamari with chipotle mayonnaise and a dressed rocker garnish to start, it was fresh and melt in the mouth tender. For mains my daughter had the slow cooked pork belly which she declared to be delicious. I had the catch of the day which proved to be sea bass. Fish cookery is a delicate business and easy to get wrong. My sizeable portion of sea bass was cooked to perfection. The skin side crispy and the flesh beautifully soft and moist, the chef who cooked that certainly knows what he is doing! Dessert for both of us was stem ginger pudding with clotted cream ice cream and toffee sauce. Another triumph! Along with the excellent food the service was equally good and although I spend most of my time in Spain these days I look forward to coming again as soon as possibly.More

Lovely Sunday lunch celebrating my parents Diamond wedding anniversary. Friendly staff, lovely Sunday lunch and beautiful location. Thank you Rosy and staff for making this a memorable occasion
A lovely location looking over the river. Amazing food, and friendly staff. Will definitely visit again when next in bath
Beautiful set restaurant by the peaceful riverside. Greeted by Rosie who was welcoming and friendly. Our table was on the covered terrace with views of the river and boating. Table set with beautiful fresh flowers. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious and well presented. Service...was great with a lovely dining experience. Highly recommend this individual restaurant and will definitely be returning maybe with a punt of a little boat trip..More
Hidden gem in a beautiful location on the river. Close to Sydney Gardens so lovely walks close by. Restaurant is really pretty with a lovely covered balcony overlooking the river. Lunchtime was very quiet and the service was excellent. An authentic Bath business definitely worth...visiting away from the tourist hub. Menu could have been a bit more exciting and seasonal, especially the desserts, but we will definitely return as we had a lovely time.More
