Found this nice character pub while out on a drive around the Cheddar and Wookey hole area and luckily they had room to fit us in for a Sunday carvery. The food was excellent and although not cheap it was excellent with generous slices of...meat and a large selection of well cooked vegetables. The staff were all very pleasant with a special mention to the young lady who took our orders, unfortunately I can't recall her name.More

We managed to book this just 24 hours prior to our visit and were dubious......I mean, who has the ability to accommodate a party of 26? However, we have just left, and what an awesome experience we have had! The staff were wonderful, really patient,...and attentive to our needs. The food was delicious, a proper Sunday roast , and the deserts were really special! We have left with full bellies and a plan to return to this gem of a pub when are next in the area!More

Outstanding! Took my parents for my mums 79th birthday. Our table was waiting with birthday balloons, a card & box of chocolates …. Completely unexpected & such a lovely gesture. Food was delicious & very reasonably priced, staff very friendly & welcoming. When I came...to Pay the bill they also hadn’t charged for my mums glass of wine because it was her birthday.. As a local I don’t use this pub enough but will certainly be using much more in the future. Well Done to you all.. you made my parents day ! 🎉🎉More

Such a lovely pub, full of character, incredible food and brilliant staff. We visited as a family of 6 ranging from 9 years old to 70 and everyone enjoyed the food so much. Steak done to perfection, the Rodney Recker burger was amazing and every...dessert was so delicious. The staff were so attentive and lovely and dealt with a dairy allergy with in the party with such much care and attention to detail. My youngest loved the play area outside and meeting the chickens. Couldn’t fault it, only wish we lived nearer to make it our local.More

Had two outstanding meals here during our holiday to Somerset. It really is a remarkable village pub with delicious food and a huge varied menu. The first meal I had the “Mendip Muncher” burger (I asked specially if I could have it in the famous...rainbow bagel bun as this is normally used for the plant based burger & they let me have it which I was thrilled about) The burger included a tasty hash brown, bacon and cheese as well as the delicious meaty patty with salad. A side of fries came with the meal too. I have to say, it was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. The quality was incredible and I could tell it was locally sourced. For dessert I did ask for a lotus biscoff pancake but unfortunately they were out of pancakes on this day, so they asked if the waffle would be okay instead and I of course agreed. The Belgian waffle with lotus biscoff was nice too. Couldn’t fault it, obviously I’d have preferred the pancakes but it had to be waffle on this day! Service was good and the atmosphere was lovely. We sat in the “Snug” area right by the open log fire and it was lovely. The atmosphere made it just as nice. Second time we ate there I had the chicken and ham pie which was delicious and pancakes were back on the menu! So I had the Rodney mess pancakes (like Eton mess) and it was scrummy. This pub/restaurant really surprised me, I expected it to be good but not as amazing as I found it to be and I can’t wait to return again in the future. Will recommend to others too! 100% up there with one of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time.More

Great carvery here with lots of meat, vegetables and trimmings. Staff very polite and efficient. Every effort has gone into making you feel safe with regard to Covid - tables well spaced out, carvery set well back and masks and perspex screens in place. Couldn't...fault it!More

Absolutely vile. The staff where rude, defensive and underaged to serve alcohol. The manager was aggressive. Out of 4 meals 2 were incorrect and we was informed we would have to wait for the other guests to be served before our corrections would be done,...this being another 40 minutes. Disgusting!More
