Another Visit to Lichfield and Brewhouse

Whenever I say to my Partner can we go to Litchfield, his face drops( he finds it boring), whilst I adore Litchfield, and always sway to brewhouse & Kitchen for Lunch. We visited Saturday 29th for lunch, and pre - booked my table ( request for nice table near fire which we got ) Was super cozy as always, the weather was all seasons in Litchfield, sunny, snow, hail, so a nice break in the warm. My Partner ordered the Buttermilk chicken burger, and I opted for the BLT with fries, which was a really good size sandwich, my 1st choice was not available( steak and avocado) but I really enjoyed it all the same. After 2 glasses of wine, a Large shandy and food, the bill was a reasonable £38, which I thought was very good value. We should branch out a little when we go to Litchfield, but no doubt will end up back in the cozy corner at Brewhouse ☺ See you again soon guys

Ok visit

friendly staff. There was Quite a wait for food to come out but staff cannot do enough for u and Always service with a smile. Food is ok , was a little disappointed with my Camembert starter as it stated it came with honey and thyme but there was definetly nothing added to it so was very bland which was a shame. Rest of the food was ok. Big portions but a little bland for me my burger should have been spicy but couldn’t taste any spices . Overall was good value as we Only paid £40 for 2 alcoholic drinks, 1 kids meal with ice cream , 2 fruit juices ,2 starters , 2 mains and 3 sides! This was with the eat out to help out deal. I perhaps wouldn’t revisit to pay full price purely as I felt the food I ordered was a bit bland for me . My other half however loved his pork bites to start

Gin Tasting & Food

We had a fabulous gin tasting with our host Polly. She was very knowledgeable on the history of gin and did not rush us at all. We had 5 single gins (none of which we had tried before) with London Essence tonics. We then got to choose our favourite of the 5 and have a double measure with our favourite tonic. At £25 it was great value for money and we would definitely do it again. We upgraded to have a meal for an extra £10 - cheeseburger and fries for me and beer can chicken and fries for my friend. Thank you Polly.

This was our first visit to the Brewhouse – we were tempted by the halloumi and chips on the menu, and we weren’t disappointed. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food excellent. Adding mint to the mushy peas was a nice innovation! The restaurant is characterful, being a brewhouse with brewing equipment, and 1940s-style posters around the dining area. There is a good range of vegetarian options. We noticed that you could place and pay for your order by using a QR code on the table, helping to minimise physical contact during the present Covid crisis. To entice customers to return to dining out, a 25% discount is offered from Mondays to Wednesdays during September. We’ll certainly add the Brewhouse to our list of places to dine in Lichfield.

What a great find this place.

What a great find this place was. We hadn’t visited Lichfield for ages so when we recently went we dropped on this fantastic pub with a difference. Brewhouse & Kitchen has it’s own brewery on site in the pub. Inside it’s spacious with the brewing part just as you walk in. We had lunch there and tried one of their flight boards where you sample three different beers of your choice and there are plenty. We had some lunch there and the food was excellent. The staff were lovely as well and had great knowledge of all the drinks available. You can also buy a brewers day which is cracking value for money and unlike any others I’ve seen before. Also you can purchase a mini keg and other souvenirs. All in all we will be going back very soon, don’t miss out on this venue if you find yourself in the area.

Gin experience

What a fabulous gin tasting with our host Polly. She was very knowledgeable on the history of gin. We didn't feel rushed at all, very relaxed event. We had 5 single gins (none of which we had tried before) with London Essence tonics which is very unique. Great staff attitude to diverse needs of the group

I had Sunday lunch there yesterday, the meal was very nice, good value for money, fairly standard pub Sunday lunch fare with vegetarian and vegan options and child portions on offer. What has really inspired me to write this review is the friendly and helpful attitude of the staff: our party included 2 elderly people, someone with a learning disability and a vegetarian. Sometimes eating out with this group can be tricky as we are made to feel that simple requests eg, please can you serve that meal in a bowl not on a plate, or for vegetarian gravy, are too much trouble, but here everything we asked for was willingly accommodated without any fuss. When we asked about an accessible toilet we were shown the way by a member of staff, possibly the manager I didn't ask, unlocked the door with the key which was in his pocket, no hunting for it behind the bar. The bathroom itself was clean and properly equipped, again not something we can take for granted. The friendly and "Can do" attitude of the staff definitely made a huge difference to making this an enjoyable and relaxed meal out, would definitely visit again.

Long wait, food poor

After being told the food would take an hour we were extremely hungry once it did arrive an hour later. I ordered a New Yorker burger and my partner order half a beer can chicken. Both were dry, several ingredients missing from my burger (no dill pickles, no mustard) so it was basically pastrami, beef and cheese which isn’t a New York burger. We appreciate it was very busy but at the prices charged perhaps turn away customers instead of providing people with substandard food and a long wait?

Dreadful food

I visited the Brewhouse with friends on a late Saturday afternoon. We ordered food and drinks online as directed by staff. Our drinks arrived but our food was forgotten and we had to chase. I ordered 1/4 beer can chicken with rice and onion rings. The chicken was tiny (more like a small drumstick) the rice was not edible and the onion rings were a pool of grease served on a metal tray which looked like it hadn’t been washed properly. Very disappointing and I won’t eat there again.

Could so easily have been better.

I don't like writing negative reviews, but I felt a bit let down following my visit for a bite to eat on a Saturday afternoon. I suppose the look of the place gave me what turned out to be a false impression of quality and service. We ordered a 1/4 Chicken, Chunky Chips and House Slaw, and a Battered Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas. The chicken meal was served on a baking tray, with the slaw in a small saucepan. I really don't know what this is meant achieve. The Chips and Slaw were fine. The Chicken was dry and the Fish dry and coated in overcooked batter. The fish meal was served with a small separately served portion of mushy peas. Again, I don't understand why the meal has to be served in such a manner. I also wonder why portions of peas are so small these days in many establishments. Is there a pea shortage? I admit that I cleared my plate, but I was hungry. However, the quality of the food was average to poor, considering the price. I've definitely had better food at much better value. The table also had food debris from previous customer. I presume there must also be a shortage of condiments, as I had to ask staff to bring some and then later napkins. The service didn't come with a smile either from those initial interactions, but another member of staff doing the obligatory 'How's everything for you?' enquiry was much brighter. My other half pre-empted any negative response from me and politely said 'fine'. I've seen a lot worse, I've left food untouched after the first taste. It was not as bad as those experiences, but it could so easily have been a lot better.

Drink, don’t eat.

Visited on a whim as a couple on late May Bank Holiday. We found the drinks menu comprehensive and beers available were cold and lively. Food however was poor, my “black and blue” burger was lukewarm at best, and by the time we waited for condiments to arrive was cold (a good 5 minute wait). The blue cheese sauce turned out to be a bit of grated Stilton which could have been better... my partner chose the Chicken burger which was acceptable, warm at least, despite a “gristly bit” found halfway through. Service was mediocre, staff seemed harried and disorganised, we turned two erroneous orders away from our table and got a huff out of the waitress each time. The opportunist in me would have accepted, but not with food this poor. Come for a pint, but if you’re looking for grub in Lichfield, go elsewhere.

Lovely staff, disappointing food

We arrived late on an ‘eat out’ evening, so were very happy they could accommodate us without a booking. They had run out of the item I wanted off the menu, but we were told before ordering which was fair enough. But an incident in the kitchen left our meal a bit wanting, the nachos were rushed and the cheese was cold and not melted. I had ordered ribs, but these became unavailable after the kitchen incident and was asked to change my order. I swapped to a burger, with bacon, but this addition came out fatty, pale and unappealing so I ended up taking it off. The chips were cold, the meal as a whole was disappointing. That said, due to the change in order they did refund my meal, and I can’t fault the friendliness of the staff. I’d potentially try here again on a less busy and frantic occasion, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Rude staff and pretentious atmosphere.

We booked a table here to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. From the start the staff were hostile and rude. When my husband went to the bar they refused to serve him, once they had had enough money from us from a previous round of drinks. The staff looked at me like dirt and I hadn’t done anything at all. I politely questioned them not serving us and It was met with rudeness. After reading all of the poor reviews below there seems to be a pattern emerging. We have never had such rude treatment before. We will definitely not return. I can see from the replies on other bad reviews that I will be receiving a reply from you. So I shall await your patronising and condescending reply. There are much better places to go in Lichfield Like ‘The Feathers’ , ‘The spiritualist’ and ‘The Bowling Green’ where the staff served with a smile and were welcoming, much more professional regarding Covid etc. I would avoid this place if you intend to have a pleasant evening.

Family meal out to celebrate 2 birthdays. Arrived and spent half an hour trying to get online to order drinks. Once ordered waitress came over to say certain drink wasn’t available but didn’t offer much of an alternative. We then started to order food, system wouldn’t let us order certain things off the menu, so we called the waitress over to be told if you can’t order online it’s because we have not got it. We were left with about 3 choices as a result. Still no drinks after an hour of being there. Called waitress over regarding meals again and where our drinks were, her attitude was so off we decided to leave. Asked for refund on drinks, as of this morning no refund forthcoming. Not happy!! It should have been advertised limited menu for whatever reason. Now got to persue refund!

Visited with 4 friends on Saturday evening, it was very busy and our food and drinks did take time to arrive. When the food did eventually arrive it was very hot and tasty and worth the wait, it would've been nice to have been advised of the wait time when ordering. We had the very lovely Emily looking after us and she did a fabulous job!
