We dined here for the first time last night and the whole experience was exceptional. The staff are all very professional and attentive, as well as being very Covid secure along with the surroundings. Every course we had was gorgeous and presented equally as lovely. The special touches of the bread and marmite butter along with the post dessert sweets was also much appreciated! For the calibre of the food, venue and overall experience, the menu and drinks is also very well priced. On what was I’m sure a very uncertain and disappointing night for all staff with the new lockdown announcement - they all contributed to such an enjoyable treat night out for us (the last for at least this month!) Thank you and we can’t wait to return and support you when possible!

We booked this for a last minute meal out. We were presented with several choices of menu's which was good. However, we had already looked on the website and decided that the fixed price one looked great value so went for that one. We were slightly concerned that the portion sizes might be tiny as fine dining is generally on the small size anyway so we thought they may but the portion to fit the price. We were completely wrong there! Portion sizes were larger than expected. I had 2 courses: Lichfield Asparagus to start and shin of beef main. Both were exceptional. Husband had broccoli soup to start with fish and chips main. Again both were fantastic. Service was as you would expect from a fine dining restaurant which went over and above toward the end. I explained I couldn't eat desert due to a yeas allergy and was advised that next time we book, we should email them and the chef will knock me up something that I can eat! How kind!! 2 courses £16.50 3 courses £20. We were seated upstairs with plenty of social distancing measures such as clear screens and tables set apart. My only negative was that the air conditioning was on full blast and so it was cold. I took a light jacket on a hot sunny day so was ok, it was just a tiny thing - not enough to complain about or to spoil what turned out to be a lovely couple of hours in a lovely restaurant. We will most definitely be returning soon.

Had been trying to get into this restaurant on a weekend for ages. This time I was promised a call back if they had a cancellation.
Much to my surprise I got the call.
We were greeted at the door and seated in the bar area to look at menus, were served complimentary taster with our drinks - Fab!
On seating in restaurant we were again treated to a chef taster whilst waiting for our starter.
All the food was excellent, service was good without being invasive and the best time was had.

Another great meal and first class service, despite Covid restrictions.
Our son, and his American wife, who has recently opened a top notch restaurant, the Bird and Wolf, in North Andove, MA, had the Taster Menu just before lockdown in 2020 and said it was Michelin standard.! This is the second time we have been and we would recommend the Larder to anyone who enjoys fine food, at a reasonable price, and good service.

We enjoyed a fantastic Sunday lunch. Wonderful attention to detail with the quality and all the interesting bits and pieces they bring out during the meal even down to things like sage and olive butter and warm focaccia bread to nibble on and homemade petit fours to finish. We all had different things and all enjoyed them. For the quality I think the value is very good indeed. At £28 for 3 courses it is more than worth every penny. Best Sunday lunch in Lichfield by far. It is a great place for a celebration or special treat. I prefer it upstairs though it’s still lovely downstairs.

We feel very lucky to have larder on our doorstep!
The Sunday menu was delicious.
The choice menu on an evening is amazing!
The ox cheek dish is just like heaven in your mouth..
The service is wonderful, Alec is so welcoming and friendly along with all the other staff that wait on upstairs.
All the little gestures that come to your table such as the breads, tasters and the fudge to finish just makes the experience feel special.
We love it and will be back to try all of the different menus throughout the year!

A real asset to Lichfield City to have such a such a fabulous restaurant here. Alec and his team are all very covid aware and plenty of space between tables, masks worn by all staff so all customers reassured of their commitment to protect their customer. First visit here and we were seated upstairs which had a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a definite buzz amongst the other diners. Having tasted the food I am not surprised. I can highly recommend the following starters, smoked duck breast, wild mushroom and tarragon and grey mullet pastrami. Main course I opted for Belly Pork which was delicious as were all the sides particularly the parsnips and the hispi cabbage. I cannot wait to try The Taster Menu. Alec you lead a great team, the service is impeccable and cannot wait until our return. For the quality of food, the price is incredibly reasonable so definitely recommend.

This restaurant is truly a real treat. The restaurant combines superlative gastronomy with fantastic individual service. You don't often get this kind of experience today.
Came here for an evening meal with my family on a Friday evening. We all ate two courses - the food was of the highest quality and the staff provided detailed descriptions of each plate of food. We were delighted with the unexpected amuse-bouche which we were served whilst waiting to be taken to our table and between courses.
The place is very friendly but also highly professional in terms of commitment to great food and customer enjoyment. This was really one of the best places we have eaten in a while. Would definitely recommend and will return.

We visited for lunch last Sunday just the 3 of us & really enjoyed our time @ The Larder.
We received a very warm welcome & were shown to a table in the bar quickly where we looked at the menu & ordered a bottle of Chablis to start.
The food was lovely & the sirloin of beef melted in your mouth, all of the trimmings were cooked beautifully & a portion of truffle infused mash potato which was really special.
We were not rushed at all at any time which was really appreciated & the owner Luke even came over to us to say hello.
There is a Italian Evening there on the 11th March, I hope there are some spaces left.
Well done to you all @ The Larder & see you again very soon.

Four of us had lunch last Sunday. We had heard very good things about The Larder and they were completely justified. From the minute we arrived until we left the staff were extremely polite and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. There was a good choice of menu, the food was absolutely delicious and we all agreed we would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

We visited Larder on a Friday evening and the restaurant was nicely busy with a buzzing but relaxed atmosphere.
Alec greeted us warmly and was so helpful in agreeing for us to increase our table size literally as we sat ~ he organised our courses to flow perfectly while we waited for our extra guest and even had a nice cold beer pulled at the moment my husband joined us at our table!
We have dined at Larder previously and been wowed with the tasting menu. This time we chose asparagus and the beignet staters, our main meals were the burger which was juicy and tasty and also the stone bass which cooked perfectly, all enjoyed in a clean elegant contemporary setting. All the staff who looked after us were excellent but we were especially thrilled to meet Steven, who’s charm and attention was delightful and our wonderful bar tender (sommelier) who kept our fizz nicely chilled in his fridge but also kept our glasses nicely topped up too! Finally a shout out to Alex and the team behind the scene for creating simply stunning food!!
We will be back whenever we can grab a slot and we also now have a ‘must do’ to add to our list with the chefs table!
A truly wonderful experience all round ~ thank you Alec and you team, it was a pleasure.

Arrived to a warm welcome in beautiful surroundings. The wine was amazing. My partner's mackerel starter was fine. My parfait was the consistency of yogurt and both I and the couple next to me left it. We both had roast beef sirloin for our main which alongside the roast potatoes, cabbage, gravy Yorkshire puds and cabbage was lovely. The parsnips were soft and wrinkled and the mashed potato poor. The cheese was lovely to end. I was gutted that some parts of the meal were just so poor don't know why they served them.

First visit and when we're in the area again we will definitely return. The welcome was warm and friendly. The service throughout was excellent and the food was brilliant. The menu was interesting and innovative and while some might find it a little expensive, for the type of food delivered it was really good value. Also, in these 'interesting' times we felt very safe. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Having had a quality meal to celebrate a 60th birthday on Friday night (there was even a birthday card on the table from the staff greeting us) we can totally recommend this restaurant.
Every starter and main were fantastic, I had the crabcake and totally recommend it.
Staff were friendly and professional, all COVID measures were in place and adhered to.

Nice relaxed atmosphere in rustic type restaurant.
We had heard very good things re this restaurant, but overall were disappointed.
We started with carrot soup which was bland and a bit oily at £8 each
The other 2 had Crispy Belly Pork which they enjoyed
For our main we chose Chateaubriand which we asked for medium. When it came it was nearly raw in the middle. More rare than medium. We would normally have sent it back but as it was our daughters birthday meal we didnt want to make a fuss.
Side dished were disappointing - chewy cabbage and 4 small stems of broccoli for £4.50 each. Chips were also a bit disappointing, being a bit undercooked and oily tasting.
Service was a bit fussy with waiters almost standing over us waiting to top up small amounts of wine or water.
Not a disaster but overpriced at £240 for 4 people with 1 bottle of wine and a beer.
