They are taking the social distancing regulations very seriously, one at a time at the counter, sanitised menu, hand gel on entry etc.
Charming staff, very friendly. Try the High Tea which is great value for a sandwich of your choice, large wedge of cake of your choice, plain or fruit scone, butter, jam, clotted cream and a hot drink. Absolute bargain. Currently half price during the Eat Out To Help Out scheme in August from Monday to Wednesday, so it cost us just over a fiver each.

Came today for breakfast with my husband. Greeted like old friends the moment we walked through the door. The menu was adapted with no problem to allow my husband to add bacon to his toast and they catered for vegetarians fantastically. The place is spotless, no concerns about covid-19 here, and the atmosphere calm and enjoyable. A lovely place to sit back and relax and enjoy great food.
Well done Amy and team. It’s a pleasure to come every time. ☺️

6 of us had afternoon tea here on a Wednesday afternoon - what a lovely place! The decor is nice with all the royal themed pieces... the food was lovely can highly recommend the Duchess Afternoon tea - we were so full after! It was my Nannas birthday so they decorated the table and even put candles in the scones which was a lovely touch! Staff were very friendly and helpful when we need extra sugar, cream etc...
There was a small mix up with the booking which was sorted with no issues
Can highly recommend! And will be returning
Small note for parking - B&M is the closest but has a 2 hour time limit which was plenty of time but worth knowing.

We had afternoon tea, 2 vegans, 3 dairy free. They gave us 2 seperate trays for each dietry requirement. Were able to supply this no problem. Good, friendly service.
Choice of cake and sandwhiches was limited. The sandwhiches were ok, extremly thick bread with little filling between so ended up being a bit dry, could have done with some sauce e.g. mayo .
Filling choices a bit boring, a few blobs of stuffing between very thick bread. Could have done with some egg mayo for the dairy free. Either make the bread thin or fill them a bit more, a piece of ham wasn't enough.
Sweet wise, there was the choice of one main piece of cake either chocolate or carrot. The chocolate cake was devine but quite heavy and sickly, which is fine if there were some other lighter options but the other 2 things were a flapjack and a macaroon, which in my opinion don't go on an afternoon tea. Could have done with a lighter sponge aswell. The carrot cake was very grainy, it was possibly gluten free so this may have been the reason. The sweetness of the frosting helped but had a bitter aftertaste.
I personally don't like tea or coffee and there was no other option included with the tea, he offered me hotchocolate which was really nice but that turned out to contain milk powder so that was a no too.
Finally, I found a hair in my sandwhich. A bit off-putting...
I actually set out to give good feedback, but I think I enjoyed spending the time with my friends but the food didn't really hit the spot sadly, I'd heard some good things about this tea room so I was suprised.

Thank you for visiting our tearoom and taking the time to review. We welcome all feedback as it helps us to grow as a business.
I’m really sad to hear your comments. Feedback throughout your visit was very good and especially when speaking to you all individually upon payment at the end. You all spoke so highly so I’m very saddened and disappointed to hear the first of this via an online review. It is something that wasn’t brought to my attention to allow us to rectify on the day.
The Mediterranean filler was accompanied by a vegan mayonnaise. I’m sorry you felt this wasn’t a great sandwich filling. We rarely get complaints about our sandwiches particularly the bread but we are always looking at trying new options that can appeal to those who are dairy intolerant and vegan friendly.
The chocolate and orange and banana and cinnamon cakes were chosen as they offer a variety in flavours. We do much more but these tend to be our most popular. We are sorry to hear you felt differently.
At present we don’t offer vegan scones as part of our afternoon teas. Sadly, the demand hasn’t been there previously when we have. Again, this is something we are hoping we can add very soon but as everything is made fresh and with the current climate we can’t afford waste and try to offer alternatives which are tasty and are lighter to the slice of cake we also provide.
We feel we are very competitive in offering unlimited tea and coffees in our our afternoon teas. Alcohol and soft drinks can of course be purchased on the day, but it is not feasible to offer unlimited soft drinks within the afternoon tea price.
We are really sorry you feel we didn’t get it right for your visit.
As a small business and for future visits to independents, I’d say it’s always worth speaking to someone on site to rectify your issues or any concerns you have on the day. Most businesses and that’s us included would have been more than happy to resolve any issues on the day. We like all customers to leave feeling happy and having spoken to you all, we truly felt that you were from your feedback and kind comments on the day.

I enjoyed the Palace Ploughman's lunch, which was well-presented and delicious. All food items were freshly prepared, and the meal was very enjoyable. As always, staff, including the owner, were very friendly and enthusiastic.
I look forward to my next visit. Highly recommended.
(For those travelling by car, there is a free (2 hour maximum) car park opposite the venue). The Gaol Square bus stops are also nearby.

I visited Amy and her exquisite establishment on 03.08.20. I ordered the plated breakfast that arrived piping hot and was absolutely delicious.
There are so many different sorts of Royal memorabilia to peruse and the ambience of the place is so friendly and homely. I took a piece of chocolate marble cake home and that was also delicious.
This is a lovely little gem of a place and a visit is a must when visiting Stafford. I look forward to sampling more mouthwatering food off the menu.
Keep up the good work Amy and her staff. x

Me and my fiancée visited here last week (Fri 8th July) for breakfast and we were not disappointed. I wasn't feeling massively hungry so I opted for cheese on toast with Worcester sauce and was amazed just how much cheese I got! I'll be back for this.
My other half had a plated breakfast and commented on how nice it was and that she'd have it again.
Two pots of tea, and one banana milkshake for me, all delicious. The only thing I would perhaps change is that when I had the milkshake it wasn't cold. Not sure if that is how they are always served, but I expected it to be cold. Not complaining though as that is a minor thing, and it was extremely tasty.
Inside is beautiful, and the decor is very......patriotic, with pictures of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family adorning the walls all around you, with various other bits and pieces relating to the Royals hanging up too.
Well worth a visit if you're near, or visiting the area, and we will be back for sure.

Thanks so much for visiting our tearoom and taking the time to leave a review.
I’m glad you enjoyed your visit and both enjoyed your food. I’m sorry the milkshake wasn’t colder. We have noted this and going forward, (especially in this heatwave) will make sure they are made with more ice so thanks for bringing it to my attention. We really value feedback as it helps us to improve experiences in the future.
Thanks again for taking the time to write up about our tearoom and for supporting our independent. We look forward to welcoming you in the near future.

We visited today for afternoon tea to celebrate my moms birthday. The staff were very friendly & welcoming & the table was beautifully decorated. We enjoyed a soup shot, a large variety of delicious sandwiches, crisps & cakes; along with a large pot of tea, coffee, & a hot chocolate. we ended up taking some cake home with us as we couldn’t finish it! A lovely royal birthday celebration enjoyed by all. Thank you.

Visited with my friend on Saturday afternoon for afternoon tea. What a lovely treat. Attentive service with a smile from all the staff. The soup & the fruit tea provided something different to the norm. Having said that, the sandwiches & cakes were lovely. Sandwiches were generously filled. Although we didn't have any dietary requirements, a little card with the sandwich fillings would be of assistance so we knew what was what, but that said, we had a fantastic time & would not hesitate to come again & recommend to others. Fantastic value for money too!

Booked after reading reviews. Hadn't really absorbed description about Royal theme but went with location and reviews. I urge everyone to go. The service marginally outshines the food and that is no mean feat. We were treated like 'royalty' from the moment we entered. The humour was great and instantly welcoming. Iced tea to start was refreshing but the shot of tomato soup was spectacular. A great start to our afternoon tea. We ordered 2 Duchess and 1 Duke to give us a variety. The sandwiches were fresh and varied and the thick cut breads a lovely change. However, the cakes and scones possibly stole the show. Think whoever baked them would easily deserve a Paul Hollywood handshake. They were moist and light and I was tempted to buy more to take home but was full to bursting. Overall, an incredible experience and we will definitely visit again soon. The memorabilia was all around us but do not think you have to be a Royal Fan to visit. The food and service make the surroundings irrelevant.

Visiting for breakfast, it was a surprise and a pleasure to note that Cup a Cha has its full menu available, not a very restricted and limited menu as do many of its competitors. The food is freshly prepared and delicious, and the service friendly and efficient, as always. Highly recommended.

Went for Afternoon Tea with my sisters at Cup a Cha and it was wonderful.
All of the 3 members of staff were very warm, welcoming, friendly and efficient.
The basil and tomato soup shot to start was a lovely touch along with the iced fruit tea. The sandwich fillings were generous and a good selection with a nice added touch of fresh salad garnish and crisps.
Nice sized scones with more than enough cream and jam.
A little chocolate eclair each and a hearty slice of cake - which we had as a take out.
Lashing of hot tea topped of what was a superb afternoon tea.

Booked afternoon tea for my mums birthday, for her, my daughter and me. Beautiful food, very welcoming (as always) and the 3 of us had a lovely lunch together. Even though we hadn't paid for full afternoon tea for my daughter they still gave her a cup and saucer for some tea too to fully join in.

Mum and I visited this beautiful and quirky place after a recommendation from a friend and were so happy we did.
What a great place and full of fun Royal memorabilia to look at.
We both chose soup and sandwich with a glass lf red wine. It was delicious. Leek and potato soup was thick, creamy and piping hot. The delicious sandwich was served on thick bread with plenty of tasty filling. Would definitely recommend and visit again when we are in that area.
