First visit for us. The pub/restaurant is very nice indeed. Well kept inside and out. The service, again very good. Not overly intrusive which is good for me. the main courses were mostly very good indeed. Shame about the poorly roasted potatoes (at least, I...think that was what they were supposed to be). Luckily it was just me having the roast beef, so the tray of vegetables was all for me but I did see a table of four also having roast beef & they got given the one dish of vegetables between them. they looked suitably disappointed. The starters? Well VERY small and not very tasty at all. very small prawns in cold butter, very small slice of terrine. not good. If I went back I would give starters a miss. Puddings however, very good.More

Ok pub food. Lack of detail between what is advertised on menu and what you get in some cases. Ordered the pie which should contain chicken, bacon and leek, no bacon or leek insight and lacked flavour. Husband ordered bbq pork loin, this was dry...with no flavour. Not sure what the bbq element meant, did not have bbq flavour. His meal was noted to contain spicy fries, no spice at all on the fries. All in all it was ok meal however would not return. Service was ok. The location and venue is lovely.More

I'm writing this review whilst sat in the restaurant having just finished my father's day dinner with my wife and 2 young children. Upon arriving at the exact time of our reservation, we were asked to sit in the bar area to wait for our...table to be ready, this wait lasted around 25-30 minutes, which we weren't overly happy about. The waitress did take our food order whilst we were waiting. After our wait we were taken to our table, upon which I asked for a highchair for my daughter. We then saw the waitress go to a dirty table and take the highchair, which was covered in food and placed it at our table, I then spent 5 minutes wiping it down with baby wipes - whilst doing so, 3 different waitresses walked past (including the one that had seated us) and not one asked if we would like it cleaned, or a clean replacement. When the food arrived, we were dissapoited to see, that between 3 roast dinners, there was only 1 small dish of Carrots and Cabbage to share (picture attached). Upon moving some of the food across our plate, we were yet again disgusted to see a measly amount of mashed potato hidden at the bottom (picture attached). Also, myself and my daughter had the roast pork which was advertised with apple sauce, and neither dinner came with apple sauce, so I had to ask for this. Not one person came to us throughout our meal which was annoying, as I had finished my drink shortly after arriving at the table (due to our long wait upon arrival), so ot would of been nice to have another. Overall, we are absolutely gutted we booked here, the reviews were so promising and we feel that this Father's day meal has been truly disappointing and wished we had gone with one of our other options. Well it's safe to say we won't be returning.More

We are local to the village and are so glad we have this brilliant pub / restaurant so close by. We have visited a fair bit since they reopened after the "lockdown" and have never failed to impress us from the food to the service...everything is perfect. The way they are dealing with current restrictions is excellent and we have always felt safe while dining here. The staff are working brilliantly given circumstances and challenges they must face in the "new normal" from ensuring that social distancing is followed to kindly reminding us close to the new 10pm curfew so that we have enough time to leave without causing any issues and having to rush out of the building. Thank you to everyone involved in keeping the red lion our favourite local venue!More

Great food all piping hot and tasty, managed to save room for pud although a bit on the small side for the price you pay. No check was made on the table to see if everything was ok had a small issue but we just...ate around it!. Good social distancing measures in place although no details were taken on arrival as we hadn't booked.More

We rate the Red Lion highly and have been customers ever since LP resurrected this village pub and turned it into a super place to eat. We had not been since the lockdown (we are both in our seventies) so today was a bit special...for us. We had lunch. The menu is shorter than pre-covid19, but everything looked good. My rump steak was cooked perfectly to my order and was as tasty as always. My wife chosethe teriaki chicken skewers dish and was very impressed; I was happy to clear her leftovers and found it good - to be revisited next month. My pint of Hereford Pale Ale was excellent and the barman friendly and helpful. We were made to feel welcome, safe and valued by the restaurant staff (Olivia and Tom, on this occasion). We have booked again, for my wife's birthday and are already looking forward to it.More
