Excellent food and service. Just had the special for the day, slow cooked belly pork. It was fantastic. Possibly the nicest I have ever had. Nice beers and wine to go with it too.

We have been visiting this pub for over 15 years, but won't be hurrying back. We ate there early last Friday evening. Ordered pork chops with chips and veg. Chips were inedible, were as though they had been cooked and then reheated. Worse was the attitude of the duty manager who made some excuse that they could not get good... More

We had a very tasty sensible lunch, I can recommend the Cod Goujons sandwich with a side order of chips and salad.

I am a regular to the Hollybush and generally really rate the place. Tonight though the chips were inedible and the meat over cooked. I did ask for a fresh portion but they were equally bad. The duty manager came over and he could see how bad they were rock hard in places. He just apologised and walked off. Really... More

What a wonderful find.A historical inn- the second licensed in the whole country dating back to 1190. Super homemade food in cosey traditional environment with warm friendly ambience. Very attentive staff and great value extensive menu. Highly recommend their homemade casseroles . Freshly prepared and locally sourced.

Lovely pub. Beautiful day for a walk, and stopped here for a few drinks on the way home. Staff were very pleasant. Will return to try the food next time.

Pies were poor. Scampi over cooked and like bullets covered in sandpaper. Mussels were ok. However cosy pub and was busy so must suit some people. Thought it was pricey. 1xshared mussels, 1x shared pudding and 4 x mains, 5 x cokes, 1 x pint = £80 for pub-grub for 2 adult and 2 kids

I've just experienced the most delightful and original meal at the Holly Bush - beetroot ravioli, tarragon, goat's cheese and rocket leaves. A lovely treat. Thank you Chef.

We'd gone for a walk with the dogs across the fields on a beautiful sunny day. we stopped at the holly bush for a beer and a bucket of chips. The waiter brought the dogs some water and we sat in the packed beer garden. It was lovely and most enjoyable. this places not the cheapest but the ambience is... More

We met for a birthday celebration. As there were eleven of us I had my doubts when I found they did not take bookings. They sorted us out in no time at all. The liver starter was gorgeous, it wasn't overcooked. Unfortunately, I was uncertain and ordered a mixed grill without thinking. This meat-fest arrived and it eventually beat me;... More

The historic Holly Bush Inn is generally recognised as being the second licensed pub in the country. Dating back to the 16th century the thatched in sits in the quaint village of Salt. We serve all home cooked food using local produce, wherever possible, all served in a relaxed traditional environment by our friendly team. We have a large beer garden for enjoying a glass of wine or a pint of real ale during the summer months. Although we are only a few miles from Stafford town we pride ourselves on being a traditional country pub that serves home cooked food at honest prices.
