Absolutely delicious fish and chips, served at very reasonable prices in suitable portions - not too big, not too small. Both the fish and chips are cooked with very little (if any!) residue fat left after serving. Batter tastes as delicious as the fish. Service is very friendly. Arrived about midday and a queue had just started. 15 minutes later it was 15+ custoners deep. Best to arrive early. Food was presented in stylish reusable bag - great idea. Will definitely return when next in this neck of the woods.

My wife and I have been eating fish and chips from here for many years without complaint. We go generally once a month traveling for an hour . On this occasion we were second in the queue and asked for Haddock and chips twice. The server asked the frying lady if any were ready, she told her to use the fish piled in the corner of the cabinet. I thought at the time that I hadn't seen these come from the fryer. We walked back to our car to enjoy the F&C. Upon unwrapping the paper cover we discovered fish that had obviously been cooked a long time previously, possibly the day before. We put the food in the bin and went to thier other shop in the high street for F&C of good quality. Was it really worth giving long standing customers poor quality food and loosing our business. How many times previously have they lost customers? John Kent.

A large queue had formed but was quick moving. We had either the cod or haddock and chips. There was 6 of us and secured a table at the adjacent pub-The White Hart. The arrangement being buy a drink from the bar and you’re welcome to eat your fish and chips on the pubs outdoor benches. The fish was a lovely although a little too much batter for our liking. The chips were perfect though. Would be nice if there could be salt and vinegar on the tables-I know it’s the pubs but I’m sure the pub wouldn’t mind! A very popular place and easy to see why. The service was quick and efficient In summer, prepare for longer queues but worth the wait. Nice pint of Adnams washed it down!

We always go to this fish and chip shop and after the lockdown we’re really looking forward to enjoying them today. What a big disappointment, after queueing for 20 mins, fish was dished up with no friendly greeting. Fish was greyish not white and chips soggy and mushy. Also all was just Luke warm. No receipt given for card payment. We felt we were just a cog in the wheel. Hope this is not how it’s going to continue, if so we won’t be going there again.

Any good reviews on here must be put on by friends and family going by the utter rubbish they served my husband yesterday. Husband ordered four Cod and four chips both needed longer cooking as very pale soggy chips and soggy batter on the fish, As husband said the server turns her back to you when getting the fish from the cabinet and puts it straight into a bag hence it is not until you get home you can see what disgraceful crap they have the cheek to boast is top quality food. They rely on day trippers who will not come again so can get away with this standard of food.Once back either home or where you are staying in the area and see what rubbish you have been served you will not go back with it so they get away with it. No standards at all to serve food up like husband was served with. Lets Aldeburgh down big time.

My husband was the first person in the queue to buy fish and chips for our group of 6. The fish and chips were dry and tasted as if it was leftovers from the lunch servings. When I rang to complain about how unhappy we were about our meal. I was told that the shop hadn’t had a complaint in ages and they apologised if they were losing my custom (NOT!) and then promptly put the phone down on me. I’ve eaten fish and chips many times from this shop and was hugely disappointed with the meal and the response I received. Members in my party have never eaten here before and I have been raving about the best fish and chip shop in the area / Britain to be let down with the unsavoury food and the flippant, rude attitude to my complaint. Yes you are right you have lost my custom and any recommendations.

As the title says but there are plenty of walks in the area with lovely beaches BUT the reason you ended up in Aldeburgh is to also have these fish and chips. It’s a staple of the area and there is a reason you will see people queuing before it opens. Chips are incredible And they sell Stokes ketchup which is a winner on its own. Battered sausage is great but with an appetite have the large as the normal felt a little small though it did fill a hole and the batter on it was good. Current covid restrictions mean only 2 in the chippy at a time but don’t let the queue put you off as it goes down quick and is 100% worth it

We travelled for 4 hours (so an 8 hour round trip) just to try the fish and chips that we had read so much about on the internet etc. We fully expected to queue as we had also read about the queues. There were 62 people in front of us in the queue. Although the fish and chips were really nice and lived up to all of the comments, the whole experience was spoilt by the lady who served us. All we did was to ask her if she could put salt and vinegar on and her reply was a very brusque "I've only got one pair of hands". The fish and chips were a really good price (I expected to pay more) and I liked how they were put into a handy bag. Be aware of the seagulls if you are eating your chips on the sea font. They are a nightmare. One actually swooped down and grabbed a piece of fish as my hubby was putting it in his mouth. He was left with a cut lip where the seagull caught it.

Tried this fish and chip shop as there always seemed to be queues so must be good!! We went in the evening so queues not bad, but still queued in rain. Such a shame to be met by a miserable woman serving and miserable man filling chips etc, was made to feel very unwelcome despite spending money with them. Of course their days must be long but they should be grateful that people queue in the rain for hours, especially at the moment when many small businesses are struggling to stay open. Wish we had gone to the other fish and chip shop in town.!!

Fish and chips from this establishment is a must on our visits to Aldeburgh. I would say the best in Suffolk. Fresh fish in a crispy batter. It is so good that expect the queue as soon as it opens, in fact, at weekends the queue is there BEFORE they open. TIP. The pub next door, The White Hart, are happy for you to eat in their back and side area on condition, naturally, you buy a drink. Fair enough, I say.

I queued 40 minutes on a hot sunny day to buy cod and chips for lunch. Despite the heat and busyness the lady serving had time for a pleasant chat and supplied a non plastic carrier bag so I could take my fish and chips to eat on the beach. They were delicious, light crispy batter, thick white cod and great chips. We always enjoy some when visiting Aldeburgh.

Really good fish and chips. Fish was flaky and fresh, chips were freshly cooked. Mushy peas were delicious. Service was quick (although a bit of a wait in the queue) and very friendly. We ate then in the pub next with a pint. Fabulous.

Second time we’ve been here in a few months. The first time (June) was excellent, some of the best fish and chips I’ve had. Crisp, dry and fresh. The second time (November) was terrible - THE worst fish and chips I’ve ever had, I left them all. The haddock batter was greasy, the chips were floppy and the service was awful - the woman behind the counter was extremely offhand. I’d have complained in person but it’s safe to say she certainly didn’t care what her customers think! Won’t be back...

The thinnest piece of fish fused into the over cooked tough batter left me totally unimpressed and disappointed after queuing for an hour in fevered anticipation of experiencing the hype of the best fish and chips in the area. I don’t usually leave reviews and so hope my experience of poorly cooked dish and chips was a one off not to be experienced by others. Chips were ok btw albeit nothing to write home about.

I am a little lost for words at this moment, as all the reviews I have just read say everything however I must give you our experience. We visited on Tuesday 9th August at about 8pm and joined a long queue waiting outside. This was our first visit and was encouraged by the queue, first lesion, a picture douse not tell all that we were about to experience. When it was our turn in the production line we were hastily asked for our order, he produced a very small bag putting a scoop of damp soggy chips into it along with their Medium piece of Cod. With a flash of my bank card I found us both out on the street ( wow what an experience) it took about ten minutes to drive to our holiday home and with hunger on our lip’s served up our delights, Ugh Ugh what a mess however we tucked into it. Now the main point. The fish was small but with lots of bones and the chips soggy and not as normal chips from your local. We had to throw it all in the bin as the Seagulls would have not touched them. Terrible, appalling, do not waste your money.
