Sister takeaway of the Aldeburgh Fish and Chip shop, but it was not as good. The Cod was very small and full of bones, tasted fine but the filleting do not seem to have been done very well. The Golden Galleon is open different evenings to the Aldeburgh Fish and Chip shop, I would recommend choosing an evening for the... More

It has been a while since I visited this place and the food has improved. The batter is now great and the chips cooked perfectly. My only gripe is the fish itself. It was tiny and dry. The piece of haddock I was served was mostly batter on skin and dried thin fish. There was no fleshy piece in it.... More

As many will be aware, fish and chips are legendary in Aldeburgh. This place is very good. Go to the upstairs restaurant where we had Sunday lunch. Lovely fish - fresh from the sea which is a stone's throw away, good chips and mushy peas. Well worth the visit.

Looking forward to the fish and chips from this take-away. What a shock to walk into being served by Lauren Cooper ( Catherine Tate) and mates. I would like to say the food was worth the shocking bad service but sadly not, tasteless fish, small chips ( Meant to be large ) So am I bov-vered to go back? What... More

We have just purchased a take-a-way meal from the Golden Galleon Fish and Chip Shop. The fish was labelled as medium and the chips as large. My 3yr old grandson could have polished off the fish and still been able to eat more. I wouldn't describe the portion of chips as large. The taste did not compensate for the size.... More

This and the main F&C shop used to be outstanding. No longer. The fish was fresh but the chips, batter and service were average

As it was a windy day we decided not to chance sitting on the sea wall being bombed by the gulls with food from the famous takeaway and ate here instead. Swift service of well cooked portions with a choice of medium or large fish. Batter was light and crispy, and the chips well cooked and fluffy.Good service. We joined... More

Sunday evening and limited choice of takeaway in Aldeburgh. Got there 15 mins before 7pm closing time. Medium cod and chips twice. Had to wait for chips to be cooked but that's OK. Fish was in a really nice crispy batter. Fish was a bit small and thin but tasted fine. Chips were nice. Overall not special but it was... More
