The Bull is a (Greene King) standard chain pub. Nothing wrong with it, food was OK, service was OK. 'Gastro-pub' it is not. Not bad, not great.

Having been staggered by the extortionate pricing of antiques in the village, we were not expecting to find such brilliantly priced food in a noted restaurant. My wife, daughter and I were needing refreshment after our furniture hunting so were wondering which of the many restaurants and pubs in Long Melford to try. As I had heard of the Bull... More

I went there last weekend with my friend for a dinner as I got 30% discount, and I wished to use it. I had sea bass and scallop risotto, which was absolutely magnificent, and I also had Banoffee Pie which was nice and creamy not too rich but not shallow and nicely cooled me down. I also liked the decoration... More

Decided to try out the Bull Hotel on Sunday 19th Feb for a roast dinner. After over an hour wait our food arrived but only warm. When we complained to the waiter about the long wait he replied 'this is what happens when you book a £5 roast dinner deal' Not the reply we were expecting and no apology. We... More

We have stopped here before for a meal, and as I recall it wasn't too bad. I don't know if we were just unlucky this time, or they were under staffed, but it was a pretty awful experience. We arrived on Sunday at around 3pm and placed our order. Having already been told there were no more "Sunday Roasts" available.... More

We stayed at the Bull for two nights and our daughter was married there in February 2017. We had the most wonderful time. The room was gorgeous, all oak beams and uneven floors, totally charming. The breakfasts were very good, a wide menu choice and cooked to order - the Salmon Benedict was much enjoyed - coffee, tea and toast... More

This could be a fabulous place, but it needs refinement and imagination. It's used to be equal to Lavenham Swan, Good helpings of average food. Tired lettuce should NEVER be served! The front of house staff are very obliging, but attention to detail and is lacking.

We stayed for a 3 night midweek break. The food in the bar and in the main restaurant was very good throughout. Breakfast in the restaurant was well presented with a good choice, and the full breakfast was tasty.

Where do I start? We arrived ready for a weekend of relaxation to celebrate our wedding anniversary and to take my wife's mind off her hospital stay starting the next day. It turned out that hotel management had booked a golf club event which we were not warned of when we booked (nor when we called again to pre-book a... More
