We have now had two takeaway meals from the Galley since lockdown started. This is a restaurant we know well and have used for more years than we care to remember. Delivery is prompt, comes with reheating instructions and the choice of wine is always interesting (Agur takes great pride in his wines). Our first meal, some five weeks ago, was very nice; this week 's was delicious. With delivery, it comes at £65 for a three-course meal for two people and a bottle of carefully selected wine, which I think is good value. We really enjoyed our Portuguese rosé this week, as well as the sensational salmon and mackerel salad, the paté, the seabass and the mushroom veg option! Pudding was delicious too. We will continue to use as a takeaway for as long as it takes, but can't wait for the actual restaurant to re-open, for the "proper experience".

It was a delight for us to have two takeaway meals from the Galley. We thought it was reasonably priced, with a bottle of wine included in the menu. Whilst the food had to be reheated, the instructions were clear and it tasted delicious. With four of us we were able to sample all the options. Particularly tasy was the fish soup and the vegetarian baklave. Many thanks.

We were so looking forward to our Easter Saturday dinner being delivered to our door by Ugur, and we were certainly not disappointed. The food was of same usual excellent standard that we’ve come to expect in the restaurant, and a very nice bottle of wine too. The Meze for two was ample for a starter and a light lunch on Sunday (with a glass of wine enjoying the sunshine in the garden). ‘Galley’ food two days running - just wonderful, in these crazy times! We had a takeaway, our first one since lockdown and unfortunately we were not impressed the starter had only one vine leaf parcel to share between two of us ,all the dips where very similar in taste
My husbands main of the fish cake of which there was one, was supposed to come with a side salad this comprised of three limp salad leaves , thankfully we had some salad in the house and we made a salad for him. My lamb was tender and tasty but very small portion
My husband loved the pudding , brioche bread and butter , but we had to remove the blob of whipped cream before he could microwave it to warm it up , as directed.
My pannacotta Tasted floury and was set solid no wobble as expected
The wine was good quality
We both thought it was very expensive for the quality and quantity we had.
We have eaten at the restaurant before some time ago and both felt we wanted to support a local business at this time so therefore

The Galley delivery service provides quality delicious meals to warm up at home. The meals are the high quality you would expect from the Galley and are good value at £60 including a bottle of wine. Makes a lovely treat!

Enjoyed a wonderful meal from The Galley’s pre ordered takeaway menu - 3 courses plus a bottle of wine for £60. Everything comes well packaged with easy instructions for reheating each course.The halloumi/aubergine starter and the asparagus soup were both so delicious - I could have eaten the halloumi quite happily for every course! The main courses of stuffed green peppers and karniyak were fantastic, both full of wonderful fresh ingredients and amazing flavours. Finally, sticky toffee pudding which was light and a perfect end to the meal . Thank you Ugur and your brilliant team - a highly recommended way to enjoy excellent food at home during lockdown. We shall definitely be ordering again until we can return to the restaurant again .

We ordered one of The Galley's take out prepared meals for two for Easter weekend. What a pleasure to be eating Ugur's food again! All beautifully prepared and presented, with helpful heating and service instructions. We did enjoy ourselves! Thank you Ugur!

Stopping locally we fancied finding a quality restaurant with something different on the menu than the standard steak or curry house, with an interesting wine list. The Galley seemed to fit the bill and so it proved. We precooked via the website for 7pm and received a very warm welcome, not only from front of house, but even got a greeting from the kitchen team as we walked past en route to our table on the upper floor. We were shown to a good size table for 4 in a cosy and atmospheric room . There was an eclectic choice of North African, Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, and we all chose something different and each course was well prepared and presented - delicious. The wine list offered a good bottle selection , and Rioja was a particular feature. We chose a Chateau Musar from Lebanon, which was excellent at a fair price, and the house Turkish red was also very good. The service was well paced and friendly, overall a delightful evening had by all.

The Galley definitely delivered for our special occasion take away. The food was excellently cooked and just needed finishing off in the oven for around 10-12 minutes. All the food looked excellent when cooked and was absolutely delicious. We can highly recommend The Galley for quality, price and reliability for delivery.

We had The Galley's "meal for two and bottle of wine" delivered - £65 for two inclusive - and it was all very good indeed. Cornish sardines as starters, fresh lobster salad as mains, and sticky toffee puddings. The cuisine was excellent, nicely presented, and all very fresh. We chose a rose wine and had a lovely Chateau Musar (Lebanon) - a wine of real quality, which perfectly complemented the food. As it happens, we both chose the same dishes throughout, but you don't have to do that and there was a good choice at each stage. We'd thoroughly recommend this on quality and value for money and we'll definitely be back for more!

On Friday we had a fantastic second lockdown meal from The galley. The food was quite simply delicious and the substantial portions meant the amazing panna cota had to be left for the following day. The foie gras Starter was delicious and the Sea Bass to die for. The instructions for reheating were very simple to follow and all washed down with a wonderful bottle of Rose in the evening sun. Well done to all at the Galley for providing such a fabulous service in such challenging times.

We have visited the Galley on a number of occasions - even the Galley in Ipswich many years ago - the food is always well presented with great flavours of local produce and eastern influences.
But I've come to recognise what makes the galley special is the welcome, hospitality and engagement by staff- particularly of course Ugur, who makes all clientele feel comfortable and part if his family.

We tried The Galley’s splendid 3 course and wine “takeaway” last night and were very impressed. As we live outside the delivery area we were delighted to discover that you could click and collect. Salmon starter, followed by lobster, with a blackcurrant meringue dessert, washed down with a bottle of Lebanese rosé. What’s not to like! Great value for £60, clear and simple cooking instructions. Well done Ugur! Until we can return to dining in the restaurant, this will keep us going and we now eagerly await Monday’s email with details of next week’s menu!

I love the restaurant and I have had two of the meals since lockdown, one my Mum ordered for her birthday a couple of weeks ago and one I ordered for my birthday this weekend. The food has been excellent and the reheating instructions were simple to follow (also good if you don't want to eat everything in one meal). As it was a significant birthday last weekend, I even splashed out and added the local sparkling wine to the order which was lovely. Can't wait to be back in the restaurant when you reopen.

Our favourite local restaurant is now providing wonderful takeaways during the Covid-19 lockdown. You have to book in advance but the process was very smooth and the food was delivered on time with reheating instructions and in recyclable containers. The food was just as good as in the restaurant, complete with a bottle of wine. What's not to like?
