Blue Salt opened just as lockdown was starting so this was our first opportunity to try this local new concept, and we are delighted we did.
The service was very good with the owner Feyzan leading the front of house and able to clearly explain his concept. Most of the food is cooked on a wood smoked grill which produced a lovely, tender flavour to our fillet steak of which there was a substantial amount. I started with the grilled octopus which was very fresh and tasty. A good selection of sides was available ,the sweet potato fries were a nice addition for the steak. The menu is not large but wide enough to give a number of tantalising options including desserts.
The wine list likewise was compact but with bottles ranging from £18 to £500 ! and a selection of good priced wine by the glass along with cocktails.
The atmosphere for a Monday night was good, even though the tables are well spaced with interesting artwork on the walls.
I hope the concept works in Woodbridge, we will certainly be visiting Blue Salt again and hopefully trying the Wagu special.

Only popped into Woodbridge for tea and cake but as it was getting late, these establishments were shutting. So we turned to the blue salt, not even realising it was Turkish, but liking the idea of wood burner cooking plus the decor was fantastic. Apart from waitresses wearing masks it all felt very normal which was a great relief.
I had the halloumi burger which was fantastic, the chips were different and delish and watching the chef, he looked like he really liked to cook. I dont even like peppers but I loved the one in this burger, what the chef dud with it I have no idea. My partner had the chicken and avocado salad which came with art ( a viola on a flower of avacado) and was just so much more than a salad . Well done for being different. Hope you survive in these difficult times. We don't live near but hope to visit again. Good luck 👍

We hadn’t booked but we’re made welcome as there was only one other table of guests. We were offered drinks and I chose mint tea which unfortunately wasn’t available. I was then given green tea instead of Earl grey but did get the right drink in the end. I chose stuffed squid which was delicious and very generous in size. The salad was delicious and they sprinkle some magic spices on the chips which make them extra tasty. My partner had chicken wings which he also said were delicious, particularly as they had been cooked over the wood fire. The decor was lovely ( look for the swan tap in the loos) and I couldn’t fault the staff ( particularly in dealing with the tea issues) I would have given 5 stars but the music kept being mucked around with and was very loud at times. We went from loud R&B to Ed Sheeran ( but only the tracks that some one liked as they kept switching them) to some more appropriate music to suit the clientele of the time. It was rather annoying and spoilt the atmosphere.

Booked a table here after several recommendations from locals.
Upon arrival we were refused the option to have drink at the bar before our meal but were advised that we were welcome to sit at our table as it was ready. However from the moment we sat down we were being chased to order our food, even though we had explained that we were not ready.
After finally relenting & ordering we were amazed that our starters arrived so quickly that we had not even received the bottle of wine that we had ordered, when we pointed this out to the member of staff we were rudely advised that it was coming.
Our main course of very expensive Wagu steak were so over seasoned with dried herbs it was impossible to appreciate the taste, again when we advised the staff of our thoughts we were met with the unhelpful reply of “that’s how it’s always served”
The final nail in our night out was the arrival of a large party of approx 15 people that completely dominated the place as it is so sparsely decorated it is very echoing.
All in all not a place that we would return to or recommend to others.

First of all, we apologise for our late reply. Our restaurant does not have a bar designed for our customers to have a drink only, we apologise that you couldn’t have a drink in a section that does not exist.
After you sat at your reserved table, you said to our waiter, “give us more time and then come take our order and mentioned that you don't want to order a drink right away.”
You did order your first drinks on arrival to your table and as you wish to took your time to order your starters and mains, by the time you order your starters and mains you did order a bottle of wine afterwards. Between your first drink and second drink (bottle) I believe it’s quite normal to get your starters if you already ordered, but again we are sorry the service we cannot provide up to your expectations.
Earl Stonham Wagyu Sirloin which you did order (280-300gr.) is cost £50.00 with sides including as it stated in our menu on the table and window. If this is expensive I really don’t know where and how we can get Best British Wagyu. Please provide us with the details where you had the same size Earl Stonham Wagyu and we will make sure to investigate and talk to our supplier as they are pushing us to increase the price of it; is because they believe we are selling less than what it should be.
You also mentioned on the night you were not happy with the Wagyu; because it contains meat fat and our reply was we are getting this cuts ready from Aubrey Allan butchers our Earl Stonham Wagyu Suplier and there is a standard for all Wagyu and we can’t change it as it’s a special breed. About the herbs you made the complaint it’s a small pinch of dry herbs we use on all our steaks and does mention on our menu, again we apologise for this.
Finally the final complaint you made. We don’t choose our customers they choose us and all that 15 people were our customers as well as you’re and we try and make sure all our best to make our customers happy. Again we are so sorry on and behalf of the those 15 people as well as we do apologise for our decoration for not being up to your expectations.
Your opinion is very important to us as we are a small family business. You can be sure that we will do our best to review all the mistakes that you have stated and that you are not satisfied with, and to do our best to do better. We hope that we can see you again in Blue Salt.

We arrived early and were shown to our table. The mask wearing staff coupled with the background music made communication a little strained. The menu had enough choice and the wine list was better than some other local eateries. I had the prawns for starter and at £9 for four shell on prawns that tasted more of wood than prawn was disappointing. The Wagyu sirloin however was very tasty. The same can be said for the fillet steak which my wife ordered and thoroughly enjoyed.
The atmosphere was good and staff were attentive . Would I go back - yes, would I order the prawns - no.

The snakett sharing platter starter was really good and we both enjoyed it. We waited quite a while for our mains and noted our plates sat under the heat lamps for some time.
My pork ribs were really dry and tough, the sweet potato fries were borderline burnt so sent back. My partner's calamari was very rubbery - possibly overcooked or just not very fresh.
I would be very cautious ordering the £50 steak from here.

Food was ok - steak medley / meal offer but the service (particularly the manager who was quite rude) was a real disappointment.
We’ve had better for the same price in London.
Steak and veg were over cooked and thrown on the platter and the waitress was unaware of what we’d ordered and the manager when asked really didn’t have the time/inclination to clarify.
No atmosphere.

We were really looking forward to our first evening out since lockdown and had been told that a new steak restaurant had opened so we were keen to try it. If you want a good steak and aren’t bothered about talking to your eating partner or having a drink with your meal then this place would suit you. The staff were very friendly and tried to accommodate but due to total lack of management and staff flexibility this place fell short .
My husband waited more than 45 mins for his beer which we ordered on arrival. (We were already eating when it arrived. )
I asked for a salad to replace chips and this caused a problem due to lack of flexibility. I ended up ordering a side salad which arrived woth chips.
The acoustics in the restaurant were dreadful and impossible to have any conversation.
Staff however did try to give us a good experience but we left feeling disappointed

Five of us ordered starters, mains and desserts. Friendly staff but run off their feet. Disappointed with prawns starter. Only 3 on each dish for £9.50.
Chargilled and tasted very nice.
I don't want to put this restaurant down as the food is very tasty.
We had steaks and although they were absolutely delicious, they were so so salty. The chips were also superb but again, salted up heavily.
The steak stayed juicy and succulent throughout. Very well chosen meat supplier.
Dissapointing to have mustard served in an old used half empty Colemans jar with a spoon in it. The mayonnaise and sauces came in small twist top individual plastic sachets.
This restaurant deserves small ceramic pots of condiments to compliment this lovely restaurant.
Please take this review as an improvement for upgrading the small things mentioned in this review.

We first visited Blue Salt when they first opened in early 2020, then lockdown hit and they were forced to close. The team did offer a Take Away meal which we used a few times. Since they have re-opened we have been a few more times!
Their steaks are excellent, and the fillet steak is great value.
Over our visits which we have had Fillet Steaks, the whole Seabass, the Squid and the Lamb amongst other dishes.
We love the Snackette as a sharing starter, plus the desserts are also excellent!
Breakfast is great also!
The staff are attentive and service is good.
Blue Salt has become a regular dining destination for us, whether it's breakfast, a snack/coffee or dinner.
Highly recommended!

Really impressed with the food, an usual twist of grilled food and really would recommend. We had grilled lamb, chicken and ribs with salads, chips, Coleslaw and sweet corn, all really excellent. Service was also good and we were made to feel very welcome. Very good 👍

Most places seem to be closed on Monday night in Woodbridge but we came across Blue Salt in the afternoon and were pleased to know that it does open Mondays.
Welcomed immediately and were looked after throughout our meal.
The food is delightful and the restaurant has a buzz about it; relaxed and not stuffy. Toby seems to be a bit of an asset with his chatty way with customers.
Lamb fillet was particularly tender and the Greek salad a meal in itself.
Well worth the visit.

What can I say…this was our first visit as a pre-birthday meal for my partner.
We had made a reservation but had run out of things to do in Woodbridge and were both getting hungry, so thought we’d chance seeing if they could fit us in earlier…they could and were more than happy to accommodate us.
Our waiter was polite and attentive during our whole time at the restaurant.
We both had starters my wife had olives and feta and I had the chicken wings off the main menu wood fired grilled.
They were easily thee best wings I’ve ever had and I eat a lot of chicken wings.
We then had the trenchmore wagyu steak each.
We both had it medium rare.
Now personally I’m not a fan of steak being served on a hot skillet as I like the steak to rest before eating it.
We did leave it a few minutes before eating it, not as long as I would have liked but saying all of that the steak was delicious and it was defiantly 1 of the nicest steaks we’ve both ever had.
We will defiantly be back and would like to try more of the menu but it’ll be hard not to have the wings and steak again.
Dessert was also really nice with us having cheesecake and chocolate brownie cake.

Went with a group of Hungry Golfers after a recommendation. Firstly the Staff (Sister’s) were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. We were all served promptly and no request was too much trouble for the Girl’s.
All the Steaks were cooked superbly and tasted lovely. The Octopus starter was well received by those that chose it and the selection of Red wines were well priced.
Overall a very pleasant experience and we will definitely return on our next trip to the area.
Chatting to the staff, they told us they were all family and the Chef was married to one of Sister’s. Special mention for Helen, who was great fun and got involved in all the banter.

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant in Woodbridge on an early Saturday evening and even though we didn’t book the staff fitted us in between bookings. The food was great and staff were very friendly. Good social distancing measures in place, will definitely go back if we’re in the area.
