Went here for a quick drink one weekday evening. It was a nice country pub, a few locals but not intimidating, just nice normal folk having a socially drink giving it a bit of atmosphere. The menu looked nice with a good burger night....ostriche burger anyone?. Will return to try the food one day as it generally felt like a... More

Excellent choice of well looked after beer and good value grub, had the roast beef, roast potatoes, veg and gravy were good but beef was over done for my taste but overall very enjoyable. Staff friendly and helpful, you have to order all food and drink at the bar...slightly unusual theses days but not a problem.

We made a reservation for three people and a dog. It was vital that it was a dog-friendly pub and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. We had mains from the Specials board: 'Wild Boar and Apple sausage & mash' and 'Honey Roasted Ham' - both enjoyable. The dessert was a chocolate orange cake with mint choc ice... More

Maybe not the decor as it's a great old fashioned pub but the menu on a Sunday certainly, Very limited menu now and such a change from when we visited only a few months ago. It is a lovely relaxed pub but for food it was a bit of let down in that not only a limited menu, we had... More

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered four meals at 1.30. food arrived at 2.40. If it was worth waiting for may be this could be forgiven but it wasn't. Fish and chips were only warm and the portion of chips and peas suggested they were running out of both. The pie pastry was according to my wife was... More

Went here for the first time last night. My friend wanted to know whether their sign on the main road stating that "a pub that's still a pub" was true. It turns out to be true. A çosy pub with an open fire, no tv. Not overly crowded. I had the sausage and mash which was delicious. I felt that... More

Landlady unfriendly! Barely a hello unless you try hard to make conversation. It's a pub! If you work in one, then the people who walk through the door are paying customers, at least be friendly and smile! Had a dodgy pie that was rock hard. Sent it back, was offered a free meal. Went back on a Saturday, said we... More

Called for refreshments on first leg of North Downs Way from Farnham to Guildford and had a friendly welcome at this lovely traditional pub. We only had one pint from the good selection of ales and bar snacks. The staff were welcoming and the pub was human and dog friendly. We will definitely be back when have more time!

First Christmas lunch of the season with four good friends and after a lovely walk over Puttenham Common. Splendid Christmas lunch with all the trimmings - more food than we could all eat, and very good quality. We thought it was good value and a really nice, relaxed and friendly pub. Would recommend,

Maybe we were unlucky but the pub was full and people were talking very loudly alongside us. My fish and chips was at best average. The fish was very dry having either been overcooked or left to cook within the batter before serving.
