We visited at about 230. We were told there was only roast pork left for Sunday roast. Or nut roast. So we ordered to roast pork and one nut roast. The person that took our order said that the kitchen was very busy and it...might be 30 minutes. We said that we didn’t have that long, but 30 minutes will give us enough time to eat and travel to my sons swimming gala. About 30 minutes later two roast pork turned up. To be frank they were disgusting. They were thoroughly overcooked and the pork looks like some rashes of bacon or something. The Yorkshire pudding was burnt and the rest of it was just like mush.  My mam ate hers as we were hungry and had driven from Birmingham to Guildford that day. I sent mine back to the kitchen as it was inedible and my server wasn’t sure what to do and pointed me to the person that ordered my meal in the first place.  She came back from the kitchen with some less burnt pork for my mam - I don’t really understand why were not serve this instead of the rubbish we were served. We did ask for some more vegetable for the roast but never got it despite  asking for a few time.  I didn’t have much choice, but to order some food as I’ve already paid and I wasn’t offered any money back and I needed to eat as it was Sunday and too late to star shopping for food. I was served a piece of steak and some chips and some vegetables. There was no attempt to make it look any good but by then I was past caring.  Perhaps the icing on the cake was when I ordered some water from the bar and the bar maid spilt the water all over me. I left very angry and really surprised that I wasn’t offered any money back. Or something towards a repeat visit (ha ha)  We were given a Feedback card which I filled in and they didn’t answer. So I did contacted them again and they answered and said that they had checked things were okay. I replied and said that I was surprised I didn’t get offered a refund on anything and they just didn’t answer me. As I don’t want people to waste their money on a Sunday roast, it’s not even a Sunday roast I’ve written this review.More

Had a lovely lunch today at The Britannia Delicious food, cozy environment, friendly staff and reasonably priced food. Had the plant burger which was nice and big plus it came with a decent portion of chips. Defo recommend

My wife and I stopped to eat here whilst travelling away for the weekend. The staff were very welcoming, and service was excellent. The food we had was very good and the portions were pretty big. The pub was very dog friendly with bowls, dog...beds and snacks available. We were very pleased with our experience, and we would happily visit again.More

I visited on Sunday with a group of friends and whilst the staff were friendly, engaging, helpful and totally lovely, the food itself was sadly over priced and very poor qualify. One of my group ordered the roast and paid £20 for a very unpleasant...looking roast. I thInk for £20 a roast they need to up their gameMore

We stopped unexpectedly whilst on a day boat hire on the Wey. What a great experience. A very smart run pub from order to delivery. Excellent team work headed up by the manager - sorry for not remembering your name! She was cool calm and...communicative and ultra professional. The food was excellent and not too expensive. Three of us had a roast, the size was healthy and the vegetables perfectly cooked.More

Don’t get the beef pie. They attempted to disguise the poor quality by smoothening the whole plate with instant gravy. The “mash potatoes” were definitely straight out of a package. The beef pie seemed more like a frozen supermarket pie thrown straight into the oven....The veg was okay but soggy and didn’t seem fresh. Again, smothered in instant gravy. Overall incredibly disappointed with the meal. Was not worth £15. I would have gave 1 star but the staff was nice and my pint was nice.More

Awful service, aggressive and very rude , i went with two freinds, and we had a drink and a meal, we asked for mustard etc, no response, waitress walked passed FOUR times, and everytime i said excuse me please, totally ignored , i then said..."excuse me babes" (not as an insult, or being aggressive , just to get acknowledged) waitress then retorted "don`t call me babes !" very aggressively, taken aback by the sheer aggression, i apologised, and sated what would she like to be addressed as , as she had no name badge, just a rude arrogant persona, at this point she still refused to acknowledge us, or even confirm what she would like to be addressed as, as i did not have a crystal ball to guess her title. Next, we are approached by the doorman, who stated that he had a report of our behaviour , "really ", we explained , as paying customers we were sitting there enjoying our meal, and tried in vain to get any service, and were constantly ignored by the waitress. The doorman left after we explained our side of the story. As we discussed this amongst ourselves in private, we are again approached by the doorman, asking us to leave . BTW , you should have all this evidence on CCTV. We paid our bill and left in disgust. For the record, if you choose to work in the service industry, you should be prepared for a customer to ask you for service , and not act aggressivley , when a customer tries to get your attention, when you have ignored them constantly. All she had to say was, please do not call me babes, please call me , sue, jane, waitress or whatever you wish to be addressed as. AT NO POINT were we rude, in anyway , and yet because we dared to request service , we were attacked for no more than calling her "babes", which in fact a term of endearment, like, darling, sweetheart etc, which is very common in the southeast , and not deemed as derogatory or rude, far from our intention. And yet as paying customers, enjoying our meal, we were asked to leave for uttering the word "babes", what has the world come to ? BTW two of us had darker skin, so im not sure what part this also played in our ejection as paying customers . check your CCTV, and the truth will out, i would never go to your pub and anyone i come into contact with, i will certainly share our awful experience at our pub, appalling treatmentMore

This is a great local pub. I’ve been coming here for a few years now and it’s often a 1st choice for us. I come here with friends and also with my family (two 5 year old kids) and it’s decent. The one slight thing...is that one particular member of staff comes across as abrupt whilst all others are super friends and accommodating.More

We booked a table for 12 for a birthday celebration but on arrival we found that the Pub did NOT have their own car park. There was a small council car park (30 cars) which charges £3.60 for 2 hours, even on a Sunday, with...a 2 hour limit!!!! We were told by the bar staff that you CANNOT top up your ticket as wardens come round regularly and will ticket those that have topped up!! NO disabled parking! So once we had been told there was a delay on food we only had time for main courses, no starters, desert or coffee. However the food, we had was very nice but we will not be returning as clearly the council favour profit over local business.More

Been to the Britannia on numerous occasions and have always had a good time and good food, but unfortunately our last visit was most dissapointing. We booked a table for 6 ahead of an evening out, only to be told when we got there that...the menu was limited, in fact they did not have 5 of the the main dishes including the steak and fish. This meant we spent quite a lot of money on food that we would not have usually ordered, ie burgers and pies. Appreciate there may be supply issues but it would have been nice to have been informed before hand so we had to option to go elsewhere.More

Review: The Britannia, Millmead, Guildford, GU2 4BE, Surrey We were meeting up with family from the Isle of Wight for the day and Guildford Station was eminently convenient. From the station it was a short walk across town to the River Wey at the High...Street/Town Bridge below the historical commercial centre. It was four years since we had last shared a similar experience – a few hours and a meal together - this thing about Covid-19 and the lockdowns that had affected people the world over. The River Wey provides a much cherished image of the town that once was – from ancient times through to the industrialization that has resulted in the refurbished 19th century images that predominate today. No longer the transport hub of earlier times, the town centre provides a pleasant, pedestrianized half green oasis - an escape from the dominance of road traffic, noise and emissions. Last time we had shared a meal on the deck overlooking the river from the Riverside Restaurant courtesy of Debenham Department Store. High Street retail has undergone something of a revolution in recent times, however, and those earlier models once thought to be there forever have, like Debenhams, gone (and probably never to return). Fortunately, there are other riverside restaurants and, this year, we simply shifted to the other side of the river to the Britannia … same kind of people, same pleasures, similar foods, tastes, etc. and we took a table on the deck outside this attractive heritage building. Once inside at the counter we met our first friendly people. Explore the menu, order drinks to go with our meal and outside again seeking a table with a view - well, a view across the public car park to the river beyond. Fortunately, the deck of the Britannia is elevated and, with our seat complete with sunshade against the white picket fence, we were above the parked cars. We had the deck to ourselves that mid-day. We had ordered probably the most popular dish on the menu – small-size fish & chips – with sparkling water for drinks. Easy … and the meals/drinks followed out within 10 minutes. Delicious. We paid £37.80 for our meal/drinks. Seated on the deck there’s that sense of time passing at a comfortable pace. When the sun’s out this is probably just about the best place to be in Guilford. The deck over-looks the River Wey and provides that glimpse of early industrial rural England; the canalized river – part of the network of new navigation that dominated transport nationally during the 17-18th centuries. In this case logistical routes for the munitions/gunpowder manufacture at Chilworth 3-4 km to the south of the town – transport crucial to the English government of the day. Then there’s the modern image of what was once the 18-19th rural community on Millmead next to the Britannia; buildings of different design, age and heritage stacked one next to the other. There has always been a community hereabouts given the original ford (from which the town takes its name). The river was peaceful with a handful of boats passing during our time there. Leaning over the Town Bridge after the meal we watched more recreational boats passing the refurbished 19th century industrial buildings that dominate the river a couple of hundred metres further north after Bridge Street and opposite the Bedford Road car park.
