Visited Dobson and Parnell for the first time today. Service was quite slow, we had to ask for someone to take our drinks order and for someone to bring the card machine at the end of the meal however we couldn’t fault the food. We all had a beef Sunday roast as well as sticky toffee pudding for desert which was 2 courses for £17. We were quite surprised to see that two glasses of wine were £24 on the bill however overall we really enjoyed the visit and we will be back.

Managed to get a last minute booking for our Anniversary by a lovely Manager squeezing us in :).
First time at this restaurant and had high expectations after hearing very good things. We weren't disappointed. From the moment we entered the staff were very friendly and polite, the bar manager Chris made a mean Espresso Martini as a Welcome drink which set us up just nicely!
Even though it was a Christmas Menu the Vegan options were just fine, the chef was more than happy to adjust a meal to suit which was very much appreciated.
The carnivore of the duo was very happy with his steak - which is no easy feat :), and we were both delighted with the dessert choices. Overall each course was very well presented and everything tasted absolutely delicious.
There was a lovely warm friendly atmosphere in the restaurant and we could have quite happily stayed longer for more drinks but the table was needed for the next lucky people so we moved on graciously.
Food and staff fantastic - will definately be back!

Had wanted to try this restaurant a few times, but never got round to it.
So finally booked for Sunday lunch,in between the Christmas and New Year.Myself and my wife received a very warm welcome on arrival, our coats taken and hung up,then quickly sat at our table.Lovely surroundings and nice decor in the restaurant,a light and airy feel to the place.
We both ordered the roast beef, when it came,it was cooked to perfection, the beef was pink and so tender, it just melted in the mouth. The Yorkshire puddings were enormous and like the vegetables went down a treat. The whole plate of food spoke of quality ingredients, cooked by a first rate team in the kitchen. For our sweet we had the cheesecake and I can still taste it now, light, and omg full of flavour.Even the wife stayed quiet for five minutes as she loved every spoonful of the cheesecake, and when she did speak, was full of praise.
After our meal,we just sat and wondered why it took so long for our first visit.Quality food, cook in very pleasant surroundings and a great team who are very warm and welcoming. We are already looking forward or our next visit.

Having eaten here before not during restaurant week we thought we would give it a go. Previous visits food has been amazing.
We ordered wine however waitress brought the wrong drinks. It was extremely busy and staff fid appear harassed.
Hubby ordered beetroot for his starter he enjoyed even though it was a very small starter portion. I ordered celeriac soup it tasted greasy very fatty and more like coconut milk very poor.
Mains were glazed belly pork with fried kale . The pork gad no glaze was very fatty had not been rendered and the kale tasted like it had not even been in a frying pan.
Chicken with mash and onion, chicken was over cooked and the jus was late to the table forgotten by waitress or kitchen.
We ordered a side of seasonal vegetables which consisted if hard carrots, few peas and 1 stem of broccoli to top it off the meal was just warm and cold vegetables.
Not once fid staff enquire if all was well.
We missed desserts headed home and hit the freezer for ice cream we could not face more disappointment.
So food here is usually good but not on a busy restaurant week not good value for money.

My friend and I wanted to treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch in a lovely restaurant, somewhere we both had not been too before, however we were sadly very disappointed with this visit.
To give the restaurant it’s due the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and the staff were attentive, when they remembered we were there.
We both had the salmon gravadlax starter which was beautiful and refreshing, that could not be faulted. We then waited about 40 mins for our mains, which was not too bad as we had good company, however the restaurant was relatively quiet and well staffed so it was confusing as to why it too so long to serve our mains, which I presume was already cooked and all it needed was to be plated up. When the mains did arrive they were very mediocre. I had the roast pork and it was a tiny and very fatty portion of meat, as if it was the remnants of the joint. The veg was cold and the gravy had the consistency of chicken broth. Not worth the money at all. My friend had the roast chicken which he did say was moist, however his veg was cold also and his gravy was basically water. We decided not to send the food back as we had waited so long for it to be served we had little faith that we would receive a new and hot plate quickly.
We won’t be returning to this restaurant, which is a shame as there were parts of the meal which we did enjoy and the wine was beautiful, however it was a very disappointing dining experience.
We hope this feed back will be considered as constructive in order to improve the experience for other diners, as apposed to berating of the restaurant.

Not a lot to say except they tried.
First course, a bit of tasteless tomato in some oily water with tasteless cheese.
Second course, artichoke I think, but may as well have been wood shavings.
Third was fried chicken, wife's was fine mine you could squeeze the oil out of, which I did.
Fourth was lamb which was nice.
We then opted for cheese, read that to mean up sold, £10.00 gets you 5 slivers of cheese, although you need it or you may starve, OK starve is harsh, finding yourself heading to the nearest takeaway afterwards is more apt.
Dessert something orange coloured.
Service was excellent but as an experience it is not something we shall be repeating.
It's trying to be something it's clearly not capable of, if your going to serve small tasters of delicate morsels to excite then you have to get it right there is no where to hide.

Went here on valentines with my girlfriend and ordered the 5 spice belly pork after seeing the dish on there social media. What came out can only be discribed as a plate of fat swimming in water! When I asked if they could crisp my belly pork up I was told because it was in a maranade it could not be done which completely wrong. Once I was finished my meal and they had the cheek to ask if everything was OK I obviously said no my plate was took away and that was that! I won't be returning here there sister resatraunt is much better!

Me and my best friend had the pleasure of eating here on Saturday night, we booked a late table for 21:15 and were fortunate enough, even being one of the last seated tables, to have the full choice of the menu.
The mushroom ravioli to start was delightfully sweet and earthy, the lamb I had for main was simply divine also.
The restaurant catered for fine dining tastes, but without compromising too much on the portion to flavour ratio.
Our waitress had a great wine knowledge and I don’t think I had to pour a single glass from our bottle myself, which is always a nice touch.
I finished the meal with a personal favourite of Pineapple upside down cake, which was exactly the way to put a smile on my face on my departure.
The evening was topped off by receiving a small loaf of bread, which hadn’t proved in time for serving pre starter, this was enjoyed the next day for breakfast to continue the experience.
Many thanks!

Service was 5 star - the waiting staff were incredibly helpful. It was brother's birthday - got a free glass of bubbly and lovely signed card from the staff. Two courses for £17.00 was very good value - food was delicious. Slight gripe and I mean, very slight is that I thought one vegetarian meal (literally a plate of vegetables) was £15.00 which I thought rather pricey. However, was very enjoyable.

Great staff and lovely venue but I’m afraid the food is ridiculously overrated. Duck starter with liver and two dollops of cream, where was the liver? My choice of langoustine wasn’t available, why wasn’t this mentioned before seating?
Main of pork with kale had so much garlic in it over powered the whole dish and my palate even after dessert! The chicken dish was tasteless and the sauce was too strong and overly salty.
Desserts were half decent but no rum flavour in the ice cream, but as mentioned I couldn’t really taste them as my palate was still screaming garlic.
All dishes were beautifully presented, but thats where the fine dining experience ended I’m afraid.

Dobson & Parnell was our first restaurant visit since lockdown, so we were a little nervous about how our experience would be. I’m glad to say that the whole evening was exceptional, surpassing expectations (quality of food, service, atmosphere and social distancing implementation).
Our temperatures were taken on entry and all staff were wearing visors at all times.
We had booked the 5 course taster menu, with wine pairing. David and his team were attentive and polite throughout, taking the time to explain each dish and how it paired with each wine.
Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented and did pair very well with the wines.
This is our second visit and certainly won’t be our last. I recommend Dobson & Parnell to anyone who appreciates fine dining.

Visited on a quiet Friday lunchtime for the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. All staff were very knowledgeable on every aspect of the menu and went to great length to explain every dish and the accompanying wine. Every course was well presented and sufficient time was allowed between courses to savour the food and the wine.
Although my wife and I enjoyed the whole experience we felt that it lacked any sort of wow factor.
With a cocktail each and including a tip the bill came to £150.

We booked a table early in the evening so we could take advantage of the earlybird Menu. Service was excellent, very attentive, but we felt completely unhurried.
We were given some delicious bread and butter, then a pre starter. Our starters were followed by two very good mains, a Beef Shortrib and a Salmon dish.
Feeling full we decided to have the selection of Ices and Sorbet, but that was precluded by a pre dessert!
Will a bottle of Chenin Blanc our bill including Service Charge was £77.00. For the standard of service and cooking I think this represented excellent value.
We had a really lovely evening and thoroughly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy modern British cooking

This restaurant is now offering a tasting menu of either 5 or 7 courses. We opted for the 5 courses for £50 and each course was very tasty. However the courses are really small, each course could have been served on one plate as they were not much bigger than a canapé. I think we would have left hungry if we hadn't had two servings of bread. Very tasty but at £10 per large canapé also very expensive.

Our first visit to a restaurant since lockdown. We were welcomed at the door, our temperature taken and hands sanitised. We chose from the 3 course set lunch menu.
I had the heritage tomatoes and spiced sausage salad with aoli dressing, my wife had the hot smoked salmon with bilinis, they were both very tasty. For our main we chose the cod, as we didn't want the clan chowder with our fish, the chef kindly changed the dish to cod with seasonal vegetables and potatoes. We decided to finish with ice cream. We also had a glass of red sangovie wine.
The staff all wore visors, and were very friendly, we were made to feel very safe.
