Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Two sides to the story. Had a great meal here the food was amazing, our waitress friendly and attentive no complaints until the disgusting language experienced from one member of the kitchen team. Leaning across yelling at staff shouting F**k off, amongst other choice words....I was here with my husband and 2 grandchildren and will never return because of this. Just feel bad for the people having to take this abuseMore

Food very tasty and fresh. Staff very welcoming and a nice ambiance inside. A bit over priced for pizza/pasta as further down the street are probably about half these prices. Sunday lunch is also very nice but please don’t stick service charges onto peoples bills....It’s not right.More

Great atmosphere. Busy but not too noisy. Had garlic bread which was really good, and marinara pizza. Also very good. Partner had seafood linguine which was packed with prawns. Friendly staff. Good service. On the pricey side for an Italian but worth it for the...good quality food.More

I have visited this restaurant many times in the past and been very happy, but feel the prices have shot up since our last visit. No complaints about the food or service however I don’t feel the prices are justified. There are cheaper Italian restaurants...in Newcastle, where the food is as good, if not better.More

Loved the food, service, decor & ambience. Especially loved sitting in the room under the railway arches! Risotto, pizza & steak were all great. Would definitely recommend a trip to this place. Lost a star as it is quite pricey but the quality is excellent....Thanks for a lovely dinner :-)More

Positive - the restaurant is clean, service efficient, and staff courteous Negative - not the homely, family run, Italian restaurant of old, when Luigi and son Paul owed this establishment. Prices excessive and quality average. For example, a sea-food pizza with tinned tuna prevalent =...£19.70 In summary, nice venue and staff, but very business focused, with happy hour quality food, but at Cordon Bleu prices, Nearby, Uno’s Trattoria is a much more preferable establishment, in our humble opinionMore

Food was ok but the female waitress spoilt the night by being patronising and rude. Don’t think I’ll be back in the future

Overall we had a good experience at Prima. The service was very good, staff were friendly enough and did not require a deposit for a large booking. The food is really good here, but from previous visits the price has certainly gone up quite a...lot and found it quite expensive for an ItalianMore

Booked a table for 20 for our annual Christmas outing. 2 courses for 30.00 was the deal and from the menu it seemed fair because of the season. I opted for the fois gras and turkey Christmas dinner. Starter was ok but the figs had...no taste, pate was just a slither and the toasted bread was stale. Turkey dinner was just inedible, only thing cooked in an oven was the Yorkshire pudding. Everything else was either boiled or microwaved. Turkey must have been cut from an anorexic bird, sprouts, cauliflower, carrots and broccoli felt like they had just been run under a hot tap, cut into a carrot and it flew across the room. Stuffing and pigs in blankets deep fried??? And the piece de resistance…no potatoes!!!! Not even cranberry sauce. No effort made on the occasion either. Colleagues had the Christmas log for desert, not sure what is was supposed to be but it was brown and frozen and yes, they couldn’t eat it as it was just rank. For a total bill of £600 it was a disgrace, as a group we will not be returningMore

We visited the restaurant as a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. The waitress was so disengaged, rude and irritated the whole time which really impacted on our experience. We had a problem with one of the dishes and she was completely unhelpful and...had no desire to apologise or rectify the situation. To make it worse - we were charged for a dish that we couldn't eat with no acknowledgement or explanation. the chef was also leaning over the pass and acting unprofessionally, pointing at tables with an aggressive attitude. We have been to Prima a lot- however, after this experience, we will not return and I will be sharing my experience so that others don't experience the same.More

100% recommend bottomless brunch at Prima, food was well presented and very tasty! The drinks kept flowing despite it being extremely busy on a Saturday evening. Lavinia & Cornel were amazing, always making sure we had a drink and that everything was ok, 5* service...from them both!More

We booked as a party of six on what was the hottest day of the year. When we arrived the place was heaving, good sign! We were seated and our drink orders taken quickly. Nice to see that they have Italian lagers on draft which...was a nice touch. The waiters were great, slight mix up when another tables food was delivered to us but sorted quickly. Our waiter Nando was great, always there to check on drinks and if our food was alright. Meals were delicious and very filling. Staple of Newcastle. Why go anywhere elseMore

This has been a favourite of mine for many years. However, the prices have soared which I accept due to recent issues but the quality is very poor. It was always value for money but there are far more better places out there now. The...menu is rubbish, overpriced and quite frankly the food is not upto much. Such a shame, our days are over Prima.More

Not sure, didn't see one. The restaurant is one level so there may not be need of one, but didn't use the toilets so not sure if they are downstairs/upstairs or not??
