We came in on a Friday evening and the service was extremely attentive and friendly - but in no way was it overbearing or intrusive.
The Ceviche to start was excellent, well-balanced flavours and came as a very generous portion size for the price.
We both had Lomo Saltado for the main course which was wonderfully spiced and offered a nice and filling followup to the Ceviche.
Lovely pisco sour and a Peruvian beer to accompany the food.
Could not recommend more highly.

This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. The entire menu is authentic Peruvian as well as boasting all of the popular Peruvian beverages you would expect too. Inside is colourful and the Latin American music takes you abroad from the comfort of Newcastle!
I would strongly recommend the Cerviche which tastes delicious and is full of flavour, and they serve a punchy pisco sour if you’re looking for a nice cocktail.
The service staff are super friendly and really bolster the atmosphere, very attentive to customer service with the chef even coming out to check back on how the food was for everyone. They apologised if the service was slow because the kitchen is small and the restaurant was nearly full, however I didn’t notice a wait at all - food was served promptly.
I have lived in Newcastle for over three years now and only wish I found the restaurant sooner. They deserve all the stars!!

Lovely food and excellent service. I am a vegetarian and one of my friends has food allergies - the staff brought out an allergy matrix to show clearly which dishes contained different ingredients which made choosing much easier. There was a dance class underway while we ate which was an unexpected added entertainment! My friend had been to Peru and was impressed with the authenticity of the food. Really pleased we chose this restaurant and would highly recommend it.

We visited Rumba, as it was the only place we could find in Newcastle that was serving ceviche. It was a very good ceviche, well seasoned, very tasty. We also had another cold starter, choritos a la chalaca, which was very tasty and well presented.
We also loved the main dishes, aji de pollo and seco de cordero, which had a good flavor, being what i would imagine Peruvian comfort food would be.
Coco, the host, was very helpful presenting the food and explaining each dish. He was also great to chat to.
Overall, great atmosphere, good food, and a great experience. We will be coming back!

We visited midweek (group of 9) and had a fabulous time. The owners were so helpful and friendly, they explained the menu, answered our questions and even gave us an ad hoc dance lesson to round off the night!
The food was delicious, the cerviche was a firm favourite along with the beef and fish mains. Empty plates all round!

This little place on the other side of the train station deserves to be much more popular. The Peruvian and Cuban food was delicious and a real change from the norm. The people who served us (I guess the owners) we're so friendly and helped us decide what to choose from the unfamiliar dishes, we had a range of things which suited us all really well.
We had our teenage boys with us who loved it as well. We enjoyed the pisco sour cocktails as well as the Peruvian beers. All in all a real treat, get over there as soon as you can!

Had a fantastic evening. The food options were great. The real standout was the incredibly friendly service from the DJ turned waiter and the chef who came to speak to us personally. I can't recommend highly enough!

The food was delicious and the staff are so lovely!
After having spent 4 months in Peru I was craving some ceviche and lomo saltado as well as an Inca Kola and Pisco Sour. This place delivers!
The food is cooked to a high standard and the staff are so welcoming and kind. The chef even came out to every table to ask whether we had enjoyed our meals!
The service was excellent, (perhaps a little slow - but it was very busy!) and really can not fault the restaurant! If you’re looking for a unique place in the heart of Newcastle, with food you’ve probably never had unless you’ve travelled to South America, then this is the place to be!
I will 110% be returning soon!

Half dinner was fine until he asks us to pay with cash without having told so in advance. After that he left for deliveries for more than 40 minutes and didn’t even discounted us a pound. during the corona virus pandemic I would expect a restaurant to keep safety measures and don’t expect people to pay cash without even notifying the customer before the meal.

We went to Rumba Casa Latina on a Friday in January and it was pretty quiet in the restaurant, but the service from Coco created a brilliant atmosphere straight away.
The food was delicious and Coco makes AMAZING mojitos.
We are looking forward to visiting again. Thanks for a great night!!!

Usually I'm not the biggest fan of seafood but preferred the seafood aspects that I tried. Between 2 of us we ordered a pisco sour, ceviche, cancha, Causa Limeña, Jalea Mixta, Seco de Cordero and Yuca Frita (cassava) for a total of ~£51. The service was great, tables well spaced out. The ceviche was wonderful!
I would definitely come again, though I usually opt to go to places with Meerkat Meals etc., but we visited on a Saturday so it wouldn't have been available anyway.

I was not going to write a review as this is obviously a family business and I appreciate that everyone can have a bad day but.....
Booked an early table as we were going on to a gig at The Boiler Shop nearby.
When we arrived nobody else there which was fair enough as 6.15 is early. Greeted by a friendly chap who took our drinks order of what turned out to be a couple of decent cocktails.
As mentioned we had booked but when it came to the food order they seemed unprepared. One starter ordered as my wife wasn't hungry but we waited and waited and waited which was fine as we enjoyed the cocktails and had plenty of time. No starter arrived, then the main courses came.
Now I had chosen the starter as it appeared to be one of the few genuinely sounding Peruvian dishes available (nearly everything on the menu is a European dish with a Spanish name) it was a dish of mashed potato Veg and chicken. Cold, hot? no idea.
Main courses. My lamb stew dish was no more than OK with poorly cooked boiled rice. My wife's frita mixta was poor with calamari rings made of rubber.
I was then asked if I wanted my starter as the kitchen had forgotten to prepare it. I said yes and was presented with cold mashed potato with some chicken in the middle. My choice which I accept but would have thought the staff could have suggested that it my be a little strange after the main course.
We declined a sweet and waited for a bill. The owners seemed to be having a meeting at the back of the establishment and despite me going to the bar to pay I was ignored. Paid and left as no apology, suggestion that they could make an adjustment to the bill for what had been a pretty awful experience.
The reason I decided to write a review was that upon checking the itemised receipt this morning I notice that not only was no reduction forthcoming but we were actually overcharged for a third cocktail we never had.
We choose the restaurant because of the reviews and because it may be something different that we haven't tried before but I have never been somewhere that bore absolutely no resemblance to such fine comments.
We eat out regularly but am sad to say was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The owners may ask why I didn't raise this on the evening but frankly I had no desire to get into such a discussion and ruin the rest of our night.
Heaven 17 were fantastic BTW and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone of a certain age.

Nice welcome and environment but food poor, not as advertised and price high. The fried seafood was overcooked and chewy, the tomatoes and onions missing. It tasted as special as a bag of frozen seafood. Chicken dish lacked flavour and the cocktails were nothing special. 2 drinks and 2 mains cost £58 ...more than on menu but may have included service charge...I didn't see a bill just a card reader! Music was good, restaurant clean but shabby with wires hanging from the ceiling....would i go back? No

First time having Peruvian food and won’t be my last. I had the beef strips (Lomo Saltado) which where amazing and tender. I also tried the white fish (Ceviche de pescado) which was beautiful and it was the first time I had white fish and will defo be back soon to try more off the menu. Staff where friendly and great atmosphere.

Awful food, awful service, awful drinks. I had the ‘slow cooked’ lamb which just meant over cooked lamb and my wife had muscles and prawns in a creamy sauce which ended up being a bunch of frozen prawns and muscles drenched in an nondescript yellow sauce/broth. We had to shout from the bar to get attention to be directed to a table after walking over a soiled towel at the doorway. The toilets were filthy, there were food stains on the walls and the whole place felt grubby. Please do not eat here until it has been cleaned within an inch of it’s life and actually serves food that does Peru credit. Such a shame.
