This was our first visit, courtesy of Christmas gift vouchers, and we couldn't have been more pleased. From the warm welcome on arrival, the attention we were given in ordering pre-meal drinks through to the meal itself all spoke of attention to detail and excellent training. The staff were superb and so was the food. We went for the 5 course Taster Menu and it was tremendous value for money, beautifully presented and very, very tasty!!

Passing through Jesmond, we noticed what my wife called Harrods, a building with loads of string lights on the facade. We hadn't booked. "A table for one hour."
We ordered starters and main courses. Very nicely decorated and tasty. The roast beef was how I like it, pink. The vegetables were well cooked apart from the broccoli which was nearly raw.
The service staff were very well trained, pleasant, quick and efficient.
£22.95 for two-courses may seem a bit steep but the quality of the place is worth it.

Great food and great service :) we both had the £20 5 course meal which was delicious. All the food was lovely. Only downside is that my partner was offered table water while I was out which turned out to be a small bottle which was almost £5. So make sure you ask for tap water (we normally do, just forgot this time and paid the price). Other than that all lovely :)

We went out for late Valentine's meal with my wife to Branches. Last time, we found it superb. This time it was mediocre to say the least.
Staff were all friendly and attentive from start to finish.
We had a drink at the bar for 20 mins and then shown our table about 7 mins after our booked time. We weren't offered any menus to browse. We were asked at the table if we wanted drinks. We asked for tap water as we had our existing drinks. 10 mins or so, and still no menus, so I asked for them, joking "don't you get menus to look at in a restaurant"?
They arrived soon after. We ordered our food. Service was quite slow, but our starters arrived. Mussels and garlic king prawns. The mussels were very over salty in the wine sauce and the bread that accompanied it was burnt. The prawns were dry and over cooked.
A man came over, who presumably was the manager, to apologize for the menus and the problems with the starters. He said he would "sort us out later on". I don't know what that meant, but I assumed he may offer us some recompense for the problems. He never appeared again.
The main courses were ok. My medium rare sirloin was actually rare, with quite a lot of grissle I had to remove. My wife's belly pork was ok.
We had one creme brulee desert, which was the best course of the whole meal.
At just over £100, it was an expensive meal at average if not poor quality. No return trip planned. The manager chap simply looked at me and nodded as we left. I don't know if this was some code that I was expected to decipher.

Most of the food was really tasty, loved the presentation but the fact the waiter asked about the starter and my husband was really disappointed and there was no offer of a reduction in price just “I’ll tell the chef.” Made me think if this was a good restaurant they would have offered something. Please We could of maybe overlooked that but the fact there was no soap in the ladies toilet, in this current situation, I was horrified I told the waiter who said he would get some but after waiting over 5 mins my husband came to tell me my meal was cold.
Couldn’t believe 2 soap dispensers were Empty how many woman just didn’t bother. Anyway enough to put me off going again.

I have been to branches a few times and it has always been lovely. The staff are really welcoming and friendly, however on this occasion our visit wasn’t the best. The chair was broken and my partner caught his finger on the joint and then I was given a dirty glass. I’m not normally a complainer, but when you’re spending over £100 on a dinner you don’t expect a dirty glass. They were probably just having an off day.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate our daughter’s birthday following recommendations from friends and we weren’t disappointed. It doesn’t look much from the road, but it is lovely inside. My husband and son even commented on the decor and they rarely notice such detail. The menu choices were varied, the food was delicious and the presentation spot on. Between the quality of the food and the standard of the waiting staff, who were attentive without being in your face, you would be hard pressed to find somewhere as good nearby.

Lovely presentation. Food was tasty. I had the fish main course which was nicely cooked. Wife wasn’t able to order her favoured beef dish but still enjoyed the lamb which again was perfectly cooked, pink in the middle. Cheeseboard was excellent as was the belly pork starter.
Slightly put off by somewhat pompous maitre D who rather impolitely told me not to order drinks at bar even though our table wasn’t ready. We then had to wait ten minutes for anyone to come over and take a drinks order and we were 15 mins late getting to our table.
Service at the table from the youngsters was great though.

We've (myself and girlfriend) have been to Branches 3 times now and thought it was the time to say a big THANK YOU to all concerned with the restaurant. What really sets branches apart is the combination of outstanding food, combined with outstanding service and a real sense of special occasion whenever we've been.
We've had the absolute pleasure of being served by Harry (fantastic waiter) on each occasion. What is really impressive, is on our second visit to Branches (a couple of months after the first) Harry not only remembered us, but remembered exactly what we'd ordered. From what we've seen, this service is echoed around the restaurant.
Service wise, what summarises Branches for me is when the couple next to us ordered, the girl ordering the roast duck. The girl stated she expected this to be shredded as this was all she'd had before duck-wise. Without a moment’s hesitation the manager of the restaurant was over and offered a replacement of both parties' dishes (whatever they'd like on the menu). The service manager is fantastic, always makes you feel welcome and clearly has the respect of his team.
The food is faultless, I must say on our first visit I had the lamb dish which is the best dish I've ever eaten hands down (and I've eaten in Michelin star restaurants around the world).
Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU, with all concerned and I can't recommend Branches enough. Always a special occasion.

It was pleasure to return here this week for a postponed Mother's Day celebration .
The restaurant has spent a great deal of time , effort and , no doubt money ,to adapt itself to the strictures under which scientific" experts" say they must operate
The staff were most welcoming and ensured that the meal was delivered flawlessly and promptly.
The meal itself was taken from the Sunday menu which offered a decent range of options .The food was beautifully presented and offered excellent value for money.Very much hope to return in the near future.

My first visit and deffo not the last. The booking system is really straight forward and easy to navigate, received an email 2 days before the booking to confirm all was good, as a planner I appreciated that touch. We were seated upstairs and even though a bank holiday weekend it was beautifully relaxed and we were really taken care of. The cocktails were amazing and my daughter and I tried a few on the menu before lunch. The servers were lovely, really attentive but still managed to keep their distance and give us space. The meal was lovely, great quality and the portions were huge. I was dreading the bill as we upgraded drinks, got side dishes etc (along with the cocktails) but was pleasantly surprised the price was super reasonable and for the surroundings and quality of the food and staff I would have been happy to pay more. A smashing way to finish a birthday weekend and made to feel special. Thank you see you soon

We opted for the 2 course Sunday lunch and all 3 of us agreed the quality of the food was the best we have tasted in a restaurant for many years. The staff were polite and efficient and the atmosphere was lively.
However, when we arrived at 12.00 opening time we were greated by loud pop music from the 70s which we thought inappropriate for a sophisticated restaurant. It lowers the tone. Once the restaurant filled up we did not notice the music so much above the chatter of happy diners.
We also had an issue over the water for the table as there was no indication that the bottle was not complimentary as it would have been in another well known restarant in the city.
Two of our party chose the 'veggie lunch' and although the array of vegetables was wonderful to behold there was just one small dish of cauliflower cheese to share for the three of us and the waitress asked if we had enough vegetables as there was a space on the plate where the meat would normally go. So we asked for another dish of cauliflower cheese. It was very disappointing, therefore, that a charge for the extra portion appeared on our bill. The fact that it seemed mean and petty to charge for it when 2 of us did not have meat and no reduction in price and no alternative for the meat such as a slice of nut roast that our local restaurant provides.
We are 3 mature, retired, professional people and have travelled enough to have high standards and strong opinions.
Despite all of our comments which we hope you will take on board we have booked again for Sunday lunch in a few weeks time because of the quallity of the food.

My girlfriend & I visited Branches for my birthday this weekend and it was just excellent. For starters we shared the Camembert which was delicious. We also were given some arancini which we wished were on the main menu as we could have ate another portion or two of them! For mains I had the oven roasted chicken which was cooked to perfection & a particular highlight was the chorizo croquette which came with the dish. My girlfriend opted for the tagliatelle carbonara which I didn’t get a chance to try but she said it was superb. Great atmosphere & staff, looking forward to coming again.

Second time over the past couple of months I’ve been here for their tasting menu and both times I was really impressed with the quality and value for money! I particularly favoured the crispy pork starter, pork belly main and sticky toffee pudding along with the rhubarb and vanilla frozen daiquiri. Both times the staff were so so lovely and went out of their way to be nice. Definitely my new favourite place to go. Couldn’t recommend enough.

We visited on 26/02/2020 for my Fiancé's birthday. The restaurant is beautiful and perfect for photo’s! The food is just as good, we got the taste of branches 5 course menu. It’s the best food i’ve had in a while. The service is also very efficient and the timing is great, you have a little break between courses but not too long so you feel like you’re hanging around waiting. Will definitely visit again soon.
