from start to finish this was one of the best meals we have ever had it was absolutely delicious the service was great too, lovley wine (turkish) we both had starters kalamari & meatballs with the complimentary bread so tasty. we both had lamb I had the ribs and my partner had the chops so tasty even the rice was delicious. the price for all those was under £60 which for 2 starters 2 mains and bottle of delicious wine was amazing value for money. thanks so much we will be back :)

Booked in last minute for our first anniversary dinner at Saray and from the minute we arrived, we had an amazing time! The staff were so attentive, very personable and friendly, and took time to talk to us during our meal till we left . To start we had the Kalamar and the Sucek which was wonderful! For the mains, we had the Lamb Shish and the Itze Kofte! Dipping bread recommended as both were absolutely wonderful, great portion sizes and amazing flavours... felt full and happy but not over- faced. Fantastic value for money. Definitely would visit again and recommend to friends. We’re also only students but really felt appreciated by the staff and that the service was well worth what we paid !!! Also noticed 2 birthday dinners whilst we were there and the staff really made those customers feel extra extra special!

Went out on the eat out to help out deal.
Shared a starter of falafel and had the mixed grill / lamb kebab dishes for our main.
Discount was not applied to our final bill; had to ask waiter to put it on who claimed there was a 'problem with their machine'.... brought our new bill and discount had not been applied to our starter only the main and it was below the £10pp limit. We were not fussy enough to ask for the bill to be re-done again but chose not to leave a tip.
Nice meal with nice decor, but improvements to service needed (brought the wrong gin and had to be replaced for us).

I and my wife booked a dinner to celebrate my new job but we wish that we didnt as it was a very bad experience. Food is even below average quality and you can have even better food in a regular dinner in Turkey. Prices are expensive for such a below average food. Service was also bad as it took ages for orders to be taken and waiter seemed careless that we are waiting for him. they are also not considered general atmosphere of the restaurant as there was another customer having a video call with no headphone, even though it was very disturbing, he wasnt warned by the staff. He was rather warned by a person in another table which is a sign of bad management. I still dont get it how they can be 3rd restaurant in Newcastle and there is definitely something wrong wit that. never So wasting money and time. Never again.

Very attentive service, we were asked on several occasions if we were happy with our food, this giving you sufficient time to address any issues whilst at the restaurant if you had any. lovely authentic tasty food, the lamb chops were delicious. I would recommend this restaurant and would definitely return. The only negative is the car parking situation as the local area is predominantly permit holders only.

We visited Saray today for lunch, the restaurant is decorated tastefully and is light and airy and very clean. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. We had hummus with warm Turkish bread and a warm starter which had prawns, peppers, onions and cheese. For main course we had chicken Shish which was stunning, the restaurant is one of the nicest we have ever eaten in and the service was impeccable. We would highly recommend Saray for lunch, evening meal or a social get together.

My husband and I took our daughter and boyfriend here for lunch on their return to university. I chose the restaurant because we all like Turkish food and it had good reviews. After our experience, I can see why they get such good reviews. The service was incredibly friendly and efficient, the food was absolutely delicious (the best lamb casserole ever) and the menu is reasonably priced. Can't recommend highly enough - we will definitely be going back! Thanks for a perfect lunch.

Chose here after staying in jesmond for a short getaway. its high rating and good reviews swayed us after originally thinking about branches. I must say we left disappointed.
The positives- service was ok and the Turkish wine good. But the food really let it down. Maybe we were expecting too much but it didn’t live up to expectations and the food overall was poor in our opinion.
My mixed grill was very fatty and quite dry. Rice lacked flavour and salad not fresh. My partner ordered the lamb chops and they was served well done instead of a nice pink and tasted very “charred”
Maybe we visited on an off night but we wouldn’t return due to our food experience.

I visited Saray at the start of February on a Sunday evening. The interior was fab I loved the open brick work walls! The lighting was perfect for a relaxing atmosphere to catch up with an old friend.
We had the sharing starter platter which was amazing there was so much tasty food along with freshly cooked Turkish bread. It was a great way to try a bit of everything.
For main I had the grilled meatballs, they were juicy and filled with cheese which is always a winner!
The waiter was attentive and was telling us about it nearly being a year since they opened. I can see many more successful years ahead for this restaurant! The waiter friendly guy who gave us honest recommendations about the food when we asked, even suggesting we wouldn’t need extra sides because the size of the starter! Even with it being late at night on a Sunday there was so pressure to rush our experience, we was asked if we wanted time between courses which I appreciate when dining out!

lovely food and service was excellent. One member of the party had a severe food allergy; the manager looked after us all and went to great lengths to discuss the allergy and food options that were available. Would highly recommend.

Visited twice last week with friends then family and already booked to come back this week. Food is outstanding, melt in your mouth dishes that are super fresh and prepared exceptionally. Most certainly my favourite Turkish restaurant in Newcastle. This place is also family run and from the minute you walk in to the one you leave you are made to feel like part of it

Booked on a Saturday evening in August. The restaurant was packed full, with no obvious regard for social distancing or any precautions.
However thankfully the food was absolutely delicious! I would have definitely given 5stars for friendly service and the tasty meal - I felt very uncomfortable waiting to be seated for 20mins, with unmasked people/waiters being so close.

My husband and I visited the restaurant on monday 10th August, I can honestly say the whole experience was amazing. The staff are very good and efficient excellent service. The food was the best turkish food we've tasted. We had starters of koftas and turkish sausage then for mains hubby had mixed grill and I had seafood casserole and shared a feta salad, then we were given complimentary dessert. This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last.

Paid another visit to Saray this evening & yet again the food did not disappoint!
Ordered a variety of starters, all of which were top notch - possibly the best falafel in the city!
Mains were a mixed grill for my partner & a seafood casserole for myself - every piece of meat was perfectly cooked on his mixed grill & my seafood casserole was just delicious.
The service in this restaurant is top drawer, the staff are attentive & friendly, they make you feel so welcome & nothing is any trouble for them.
I can't speak highly enough about this place & would highly recommend it to anyone.
Can't wait for our next visit!

We went here on a trip to Newcastle and the food and service were both outstanding. We had the cold sharing platter to start with various homemade dips and warm Turkish bread. It was divine, as were the mains - chicken shish and my wife the halloumi. The cocktails were also amazing and we had a brilliant evening. I couldn't recommend this place enough! You've got to try it. We will be back when in Newcastle again.
